the resurrection of Nintendo in the gaming market is timely. now that the Xbox brand is fading into obscurity after the failure of their last desperate shot, the danger was Sony could succumb to hubris and shift to coast mode. now they cant afford to do that.

Nintendo are not just back, they are in their best form since the SNES, so Sony need to up their game more. need more games that are for younger teens and kids(no Knack please). it's a good time to bring back the Jak franchise.

- GTA5, a game from last generation is still charting, Rockstar can just retire already and money will keep coming.

Sony must stay alert and competitive. Simply coasting or even getting arrogant on their success will hurt them in the future. It happened with the ps3, it can happen again.

They need to pay attention to Nintendo and MS(look away on the GaaS part though).

That said, why wont Sony form a studio that makes kid-friendly games only is beyond me... They can hire proven tallent in that business (I imagine Nintendo has many former and current devs looking for jobs in Japan). Then they can try and make their own Mario or whatever kids play these days. They have the resources, the demand in that market is there, why wont they invest in it?

It’s obvious exclusives are harder to chart since they’re on a single platform.

Forza 7, Cuphead scores higher than GT Sport and Knack 2 on meta and PuBG just released and over 500k XB1 gamers played it on day one. Also has the best multiplat now thanks to the X. I haven't even touch my PS4 aince Persona 5 and wont be turned on until GOW4.

GT Sport outsold Forza 7 by 3:1 regardless of metacritic.

Knack 2? Try Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, or The Lost Legacy.

I went and looked up the numbers, and NPD reports that there are two exclusive games in the top 10 for most games sold YTD. Zelda:BOTW, and Horizon:Zero Dawn. MK8 is on there too, so actually three.

The numbers I seen from the UK are devastatingly low like literally Doom sold 3500 units. I read that Skyrim VR outsold the switch version by a huge amount.

On another note not really that surprised PlayStation 4 sold the most Hardware.

So this basically means PlayStation 4 year over a year has outsold the switch and the Xbox One worldwide.

I expected this because this is exactly what we saw from the Wii in the Wii U there is just not an audience for these type of games on this system and anyone who has a huge fan of the series clearly will already be buying them somewhere else or has already played them I mean people need to consider how many people were fans of Elder Scrolls series really don't own Skyrim?

I believe they're going to get good third-party support as all of Nintendo handheld have received strong support from Japan I mean look at Capcom with Street Fighter 2 and look at them bringing over Resident Evil and Square Enix with Dragon Quest.

So the way I'm seeing this is I believe it's going to receive just as good support as you saw from the 3DS but I also believe it is not going to continue to receive top AAA third-party support from Western developers of games like this.

Part of me sees it as clearly Nintendo fans are not buying these games but another part of me sees it as a possibility that the majority of people who might own a Nintendo switch might also own another platform anyway they might have given up long ago ever having a Nintendo system as the only means of gaming you can only spend so many generations missing a laundry list of series before it becomes obvious that you cannot do this type of setup.

So we would basically be like saying I enjoyed Mass Effect 3 I better wait several generations to play another Mass Effect game or I enjoyed those two Assassin's Creed games I better wait several Generations before I play another one let's be honest who on Earth is really going to be gaming this way?

So I can't really blame the audience because it's very likely that they're not purchasing it because they don't like the game but simply because they likely already purchased it somewhere else.

The way I see it is I'm going to buy a Nintendo switch and I literally have zero intentions of buying anything on the Nintendo switch that I already own somewhere else but the exception of maybe one or two games, not because I hate those series by the way but because I already own doom on the PlayStation 4 it would just make no sense to purchase some of these games and they're the worst versions.

I completely understand why many of these Nintendo gamers are not buying these versions it's either because they're the worst or they don't know the series or if they even do like the series they're buying it somewhere else. That install base is pretty much just dead on that platform and just exist on Playstation Xbox and PC.

I mean seriously guys let's be honest that is the only three platforms you're going to see the sequels to those games release on basically almost 100% guaranteed day of release.

Does anyone here really expect the sequel to Doom or Elder Scrolls 6 coming out on the Nintendo switch the same day as Playstation Xbox PC?
