The 3D platform-adventure game from publisher and developer Nintendo - Super Mario Odyssey - sold 2,148,546 units first week at retail, according to VGChartz estimates.
“Don't you know it's time to raise our sails?” Pretty sure this game’s theme songs meant sales 😅 It’s well on its way to outselling Super Mario Galaxy at the end of its lifetime
The sales update of this game after the holidays will shock and awe...lol. I agree, it will remain evergreen.
Jesus Mario! Congrats Nintendo
Good job Nintendo, exclusives sell
This will be the biggest selling 3d Mario game of all time. This is a true system seller and I am so happy for Nintendo.
Good, well deserved!
I'm going to get hate for this even they I'm a massive mario fan, but Mario odyssey was way too easy. I hope they don't continue down this path with future mario titles
Thought Mario 3D was too easy on the Wii U, so much so that I can't really remember much about it now. Hope Odyssey isn't as easy, I'll find out Christmas day!
It’s pretty easy to simply complete the main objective, but many moons are hard and the end game content is plentiful and challenging. However, even the easy parts stay interesting and fun thanks to the fantastic and varied gameplay.
Old McGroijn Super mario 3d world is a MUCH better game
Maybe you should go off track abit and try to find the more difficult moons? I’m sorry but I don’t understand the notion of this game being too easy. The challenges are there for those who seek them, why not just find them?
As has been said many times, It was very easy to beat the story quickly, but the challenge is there if you want it. Making games accessible to everyone is a very good thing and this game did it very well. Galaxy 1/2 was the same way, it was easy, (admittedly quite a bit harder than Odyssey), to get the 60 stars, but getting 120 was a true challenge. Same with Odyssey.
...and same with Mario 3D World. Doing the bare minimum to beat the main story is easy as pie, but if you try and do something beyond that, you'll meet an healthy challenge. The last world has absolutely killer stages, with Champion's Road being an awesome nightmare of 3D platforming. If you try to go for a completionist run, that game will last you a while.
I dare you to get all 800+ moons without buying them and then say it's easy.
Vader "Impressive...most impressive"
That is amazing. Now hurry up with another Mario title, Nintendo, preferably Odyssey 2.
The way Nintendo operates, I suspect their next Mario platformer will be a 2D one. Either a new New Super Mario Bros or a new Super Mario Maker. Either way, count me in. :D
I suspect NSMB is on hiatus for long while. We have not seen one since 2012 and that series was aimed more at the casual crowd that Nintendo has abandoned the focus on with the Switch.
@segata: every NSMB game has made Nintendo a truckload of money, each easily becoming among the top selling games on their respective platform. Also, Nintendo has published only one of those for each console, which could be the reason why we haven't seen a new one on a while. Hell, they even made New Super Luigi U. Why would Nintendo want to put that franchise into hiatus when it's one of their best selling and is relatively cheap to make? Nah, I don't believe that. I believe we will see a new entry for Switch eventually, unless they decide to replace it completely with Mario Maker... but I think there's room for both, honestly.
great game, enjoying it so far :)
One of the funnest games I've ever played. Still got a couple of hundred moons to collect and I'm in no rush ;)
