Hey, Nintendo Didn't Delay Any Games This Year

When Nintendo unveiled its lineup of launch-year games for Switch back in January, most people had the same thought: Which of these is gonna get delayed? We know delaying games is what Nintendo does. So who could have suspected it would actually release everything this year?

The story is too old to be commented.

Huh. I suppose that's what happens when you start announcing most of your games within a year from launch. I like that timing. Its enough to get hyped but not long enough to make it drag on.

Makes me excited to see what they show off in January, considering we don't know much about their 2018 lineup and it's highly likely they've got 3-4 2018 releases that we know absolutely nothing about.

Or when you games look like GCN games and not really doing much.

I mean, if you think visuals are the only thing that matter during a game's development and not gameplay or core concepts or programming...

I like when these games companies announce their games when they're close to being finished.

"Huh. I suppose that's what happens when you start announcing most of your games within a year from launch."

To be fair, Nintendo likely had a lot of these games close, if not completely, finished by the time they announced them. Their strategy was always to stagger out releases so they wouldn't have the same launch problems as the Wii U, making it easy to release them on time.

"I like that timing. Its enough to get hyped but not long enough to make it drag on."

It really depends on approach. I much rather read multiple well spaced articles than a bunch of them released in quick succession or everything under the sun being revealed or the developers feeling the need to explain every detail.

Long publicity campaigns work for many people's interests. I happen to think it drags on too much in a market with too much noise already. Take Death Stranding for example. It will have close to three years of being known before we see any gameplay. Beyond Good and Evil 2 was announced so early what people are expecting and what they'll get could be two different things which hurts messaging. I can see people get excited about potential and possibilities and that's cool for them but can really ruin the hype for me.

Yeah I was suprised they released XC2 the same year they launch. Well Played Nintendo. What a great year for Nintendo Switch.

Great 1st year compare to sony's ps4 1st year.

Please don't hate me.

davand114311d ago

It's up there with the Gamecube for the best first year lineup ever.

jaymacx311d ago

@LegoIsAwesome I agree. For me its no competition between my consoles. Now after saying that, If Nintendo Switch can have a year like PS4 has had the past 2 years (Games) we will be in gaming heaven. I really like what I see for 3rd party support. It seems new games get announced every week. I won't be one of those people that cry for 3rd party and don't buy them. Nintendo hasn't impressed me this much since Gamecube.

I don't think anyone was really expecting these games to be delayed. Most of them were probably moved from WiiU to the Switch. Heck, some of the Nintendo games released on switch this year are considered enhanced ports from the WiiU.

The only game I am legit surprised to be released this year was Xenoblade Chronicles 2, mainly because the translations and stuff takes alot of time.

I'm sorry but I find that game list pretty funny, I can go ahead and write my reasons why is that but I won't! cause Nintendo fans will get upset and I don't want that ;)

MrMagz311d ago

I'm actually really curious about why you feel this list is funny. I promise I won't get mad if you do explain yourself.

KwietStorm311d ago

Well some of them aren't even Nintendo games so that's..odd that they were included on a list of games that Nintendo didn't delay. Mario Kart is a Wii U port. Zelda, that little known game, also started as a Wii U game, and was in development for a substantial period of time. I mean why would any of these games get delayed? It's a launch year and most of them were already completed.

Sgt_Slaughter311d ago

So your entire comment is unnecessary then? Gotcha.

MayorPauline311d ago

I see the wait for God Of War and Spider-Man PS4 has caused you to have a nervous breakdown. It okay those games will launch eventually and then you won't have to troll Nintendo articles in order to have fun. You'll actually have PS4 games to play. lmfao

Nintendo's first year was solid I'll admit that. I'm just hoping they didn't blow their load in that first year. I know there are some fairly heavy hitters in Metroid Prime and Pokemon coming, but not necessarily in 2018 so here's hoping they can keep the momentum going.
