Today the North American PlayStation Store was updated with a March 22nd, 2018 release date for the upcoming God of War by Sony Santa Monica. If's the same date as the first game.
2018 is almost here!🙌🏻 Hopefully a release date for Spider-man soon
Yup...Add Dayz Gone, Detroit & MLB release dates...and I'll be GOOD for quite a while!!!
Dnt forget Nino Kuni 2
Don't forget DEEP DOWN!
Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves too, hopefully out earlyish next year.
If Days Gone makes it out by the end of next year as well this gen can officially be considered “wrapped.” And Crack down 3 looks like shit.
sounds about right. god of war all come out around spring. it was planned for 2017 fiscal year and that ends on march 31st
@obidanshinobi Hate to be the one to tell you this but Crackdown 3 isn't coming to PS4 it's only on XBOX One.
I think this release date is believable. Not long to go if that's the case. I can't wait to see where they've taken this new God of War. Ive played and enjoyed all the others.
Ni no Kuni II next month!
March even seems reasonable since Sony has been releasing some of it's big game around that time of the year the past few years.
The date seems legit, and this psx it will be official... Hit "like" if you guys feel you gonna get bankrupt this 2018 becoz of the sweet juicy PS4 exclusive gamesss.. Because i for sure i will go bankrupt :P
It would make sense because God of War is typically a March release date, plus that's the same date as the first one so it's definitely possible. Hopefully we officially find out at PSX! So close, can't wait
I was expecting a date at PSX, so it only makes sense that it'd leak now. Sony's PlayStation Store engineers are notorious for flipping switches they shouldn't :D
Yeah, they tend to jump the gun a little bit sometimes. Lol Stoked it's already almost here!
Yeah they seem to get 'flippy' finger syndrome around major events... Cant wait to get my hands on GoW!
Sometimes I think things like this "leak" before shows on purpose. Gets everybody talking and excited..
I know it would be March.
All of us real fans knew. Lol
Hurry up 2018 I need this and Spider-man ASAP!
Honestly never thought I'd be hype for anything Spider-Man related but Civil War and Homecoming changed my attitude toward the character. The reveal for for the PS4 game blew me away and then again during the gameplay reveal. So excited.
Seeing love for this and Spider-man is making me super HYPED!!!! The best part is feeling confident that we can trust these devs and publishers to make the right choices when it comes to modern ways of monetizing games. Whether they be microtransactions or not, I trust them to make the right calls.
Most of the God of War games have been released in March because the month named for the Roman God of War, Mars. Even with a different mythology this time it’d be nice to see the series continue the tradition.
In Norse mythology the festival of Ostara is held, which is the celebration of spring, which indicates renewal, rejoicing...and fertility. First two seem fitting, although Kratos does seem like he likes to practice fertility.:) It's actually held march 20-21. Probably reading too much into it though.
Sony rolling into 2018 like a hurricane!
But i've been hearing a lot of people say exclusives dont matter? When this game releases, it's going to be another game changer
Shoot I hope so I got all three main titles day one and will do the same with this dandy!
This date is significant as the original God of War launched on March 22, 2005. It’d be too good to pass up such a meaningful release date
Pls have a CE!!
That’s why I’ve been holding off preordering. A Nordic Kratos statue would go great with my Aloy and Drake ones.
I want a steel book case soooo bad.
Please dont let us down with the pro version it better have better textures framerates physics ok im ranting but I didnt buy a Pro and a Bleeping 4k tv just to use it for minimal touches that are barely noticeable or not there. I went with pro now pro me
1440p 4k checkerboard and temporal injection, yeah thats it most likely. Sony if you can see this just know we want to see the ps4 playstation like a Pro are just tell us u messed up, take the hit and refund us since its not he product you led us to believing it was.
We? You mean you. Sony first party games look incredible on Pro. Don’t know what you are talking about.
@Razzer by we I mean we the people who bought the Ps4 Pro and want our games a lil more enhanced then the measily crap they been doing in just about the majority of the ps4 games that just came out. The differences between the ps4 and pro are almost pointless, ps4 pro should be more then temporal injection with 1440p.I dont know about you but I expected more with Pro and I dont think sony is taken it serious enough to even push devs to work with the new specs of the machine
I feel like the specs made it obvious that isn't going to be hitting 4K that often. Beyond that, you're on an internet message board. The odds of you being so uninformed that you haven't taken the time to see any analyses before buying are confounding to say the least. Their website even says "Dynamic 4K gaming and 4K entertainment". I don't think it was ever advertised as a 4K console without some obvious asterisks. Sorry man. You weren't mislead. You were uninformed. That said, it's not unreasonable to expect more. I think Pro is pretty capable but developers just don't care. In many cases, they're too lazy to add super sampling at 1080p for people without 4K displays. Sony could press developers a bit more about it, but developers are likely not interested since One X is more powerful and they're not willing to jump through a few extra hoops to get the most out of hardware that's still weaker than the best console hardware. In the end, PS4 Pro is Sony's Nintendo console where they're going to have to do the heavy lifting to show what the hardware can do.
What did Sony lead you to believe it was, exactly? Sony simply said Pro was an option for the devoted PS users who want a slightly better overall experience through higher resolutions and better use of HDR. It was made clear from the beginning that the PS4 experience would not change, regardless of which one you own. They never sold it off as a 4K/ 60 FPS powerhouse that would be a complete overhaul of the base hardware; that was MS who told that lie. Maybe you should’ve watched the original press conference for it. Don’t get butthurt because you failed to educate yourself. Why should you get a refund for something you never bought? And don’t say “we”. I’m more than satisfied with my Pro.
What exactly did you expect that Sony wasn't pretty clear on? they made it pretty clear that most games would be checkerboarded. Anything they weren't explicit on, there were plenty of reports about what it could offer. If you want more enhancements, i'd say go after the publishers who aren't doing much. Sony first party has been pretty good with enhancements so far. That being said, at this last E3, Sony showed GOW on PS4P. It looked incredible, and even on the stock PS4 it looked better than anything coming from any other developer outside Insomniac and some of Sony's other 1st party studios.
This guy thinks he bought a PS5
@DarXyde Where in my post did you see me ask for 4k?Why do developers have to compensate for a company adding supersampling within the game when sony could give us a real update thats better then stability like they did with boost mode.Hell psxc2 emulator and dolphin emulator has a supersampling option for ps2 and gamecube games without developer patches.I didnt buy Ps4 base I bought the Pro I expect 200$ worth of extra performance coming from the thing. If sony dosent apply pressure to get developers working on it then what was the [email protected] you mention better use of HDR on Pro and I think you just pulled that out of thin air for all Ps4's do HDR which is a better feature then 4k but like I said all Ps4;s do HDR from base, slim, and,Pro.Are you saying Ps4 pro HDR is different how?provide a source for credibility @Rememberthe 357 No I know I bought ps4 Pro I just want developers to know too.
I want better texture shadows and draw distance
I love my Pro and the enhancements it does bring, but I think it is not being efficiently utilized by many developers. I'm not expecting radically redone versions of games, but it's not unreasonable to think they should offer more enhancements than just a simple resolution boost, which is nearly all we get in many games. I think that first party developers in particular should do better. Take Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, for example. All we got was a boost to 1440p. I was at least expecting them to improve the shadow quality, since the shadows are easily the worst looking aspect of the visual makeup (Horizon has much better looking shadows and it makes a big difference). I would have preferred that they rendered at something like 2272 x 1278 and checkerboarded up to whatever higher res they could manage, while also improving things like shadow quality.
Thats an good idea since pro does have the horsepower, heck it has twice the Gpu of base ps4! I just want them to push it,show us what we payed for. I already overlooked the fact it didnt have 4k blu ray and said so what its a supercharged video game machine first so let us see Improved shadows noticeable detail to models, higher framerate, and most important besides the frame rate is smother clearer textures. On a PS exclusive I expect nothing less than an supercharged experience on the PRO take advantage of the 400$ console, that's whats expected as a consumer and supporter of playstation since the beginning#OriginalPlaystationU ndrgroundMember.
Normally I'd consider this type of comment as nonsense but it is valid in this case because it's a first party game. There is no reason the Pro versions shouldn't be a noticeable leap from the original. Horizon Zero Dawn achieved it so I have hope with God of War.
I appreciate your honesty you set your self apart from being a fanboy, were customers we bought something and we just want it to do what its was made for.
Sony first party have the best looking games around. I expect nothing different with God of War.
I agree, but Sony & their first party developers need to really take advantage of the Pro versions of their games releasing in 2018.God Of War should look stunning in every technical aspect of the game besides resolution.
Agree. People spend far too much time obsessing over resolution. There are many other aspects in making a game look and perform great.
I too also agree with you Sony has the best looking games around and we are not denying that at all.The problem stems from buying a premium product wanting an premium presentation but receiving the bare minimal. If ps4 pro is really twice as powerful than ps4 base, then theres no reason they should be neck and neck graphically on exclusive ps4 titles. The whole point of PS4 from a consumers PROspective, is more bang for our buck. 4k is overrated and is probably the reason were missing out on enchantments that could have been applied at a lower resolution. Exclusives is the selling point of Ps4, so the DEV's should be taking advantage of the hardware for we are not satisfied with minimal touch ups, its a Ps4 Pro!!!
Not far at all. Hopefully we get to see some Odin or Loki later this week.
I thought that it's now everything but official, but March 22nd is Thursday... I do expect it to release on March 20th though. Unless Sony really does break their system of releasing games on Tuesdays, just to release on the same date as the first game.
Wouldn't be like they're breaking any laws by releasing it on a Thursday. Would be a good marketing strategy to coincide the game on the same date the first one was launched.
Sometimes they release them on Friday also.
All gow come out sonys fiscal yr. Although this is one of Sonys major studios so it is possible to push it back to holiday 18 to compete with Nintendo and ms
Highly unlikely that sony pushes the game back for the sake of competing with the other two. They usually take a step back and let third parties and marketing deals do the work during that period. That doesn't mean it could not be delayed due to developement issues. But i really really do hope that won't be the case.
LOL. Sony will have plenty more by then. oh man, this isn't one of those other systems that get 1 exclusive game every 2 years..
Have you not noticed that is the last thing they have been doing? They push the big games out early to build momentum throughout the year and to keep the games away from the holiday push of big games. Also anybody that is buying a PS4 during the holidays still has access to buy the game. Just because it came out early doesn't mean it's no longer available for new holiday owners. Horizon Zero Dawn was in the top ten for a bit on Amazon during the week of Black Friday.
It’s a brilliant strategy. Sony is smart to not try and compete with the big third party releases. Working with said third parties has benefited them far more.
You mention MS like they’re actual competition Sony should be concerned about. Sony’s timing for releases is smart; MS’s tactic of trying to take the holidays by clogging it full of games has only backfired since this gen started.
2018 will be another year of PS4 arsenal of first party exclusives with jaw dropping graphics.
Nice, I'm excited for the new direction. It looks great.
I believe this post, as the past GOW games all came out in March
wow, close to my birthday!!! THAT would be a great gift :D (i don't mean a gift from the developers, before someone comments that :P )
Damn, i can't edit, too late. Well, even this site says that: https://www.releases.com/p/... i don't know if it came out after the US store showed the date.
it's gotta be true even if it's a thursday just because of the fact that it's the same day as the original game, 13 years afterwards. also Thursday -> Thor's day ;P
I like that lol
Wow that's one day after my birthday. I really hope it's true. This will be my perfect birthday gift.
I'm sure God of War 1,2,3 released in March of there respective year.
Completely possible seeing as the game has been playable from start to finish for quite some time now
