Watch out, Crash! Gran Turismo Sport is on the fast track to becoming the best-selling PlayStation 4 game of 2017 very soon.
Gran Turismo Sport Rank 5 Forza 7 Rank 7 And I'd also like to point out 5 of the top 10 are exclusives.
4 games, as of now.
I thought scoring lower than FZ7 was the game's doom...
Brand loyalty goes a long ways. As does having twice the install base for potential sales. Good news is racing games still have an impact.
@freshslocepizza so you're telling me after 7 entries and three spin-offs that Forza could not acquire even half of the brand loyalty that Gran Turismo series has?
@freshslicerpizza PD say that there will be free content on the way. They are more transparent with their community than Turn 10. PD are promising to bring back the old cars from previous GT games.
Power of Gran Turismo series goes way beyond anything Forza will ever do.
I think the huge price drop helped.
@XabiDaChosenOne: When some of those main Forza series and spin-offs happened year over year and mostly on the 360 with no real improvements whereas GT earned its following over at least three console gens while going into a fourth, yeah, pretty much.
@thekelrath 34% off less then a month after release https://s8.postimg.org/67lk... coupled with it being bundled with PS4s as a free game will do that for you
@Godmars "When some of those main Forza series and spin-offs happened year over year and mostly on the 360 with no real improvements" Clearly you don't know what you're chatting about. Which spin-off (Horizon game) didn't see any real improvement? " whereas GT earned its following over at least three console gens" Oh it earned its followed? On at least THREE gens? Hmmm what did it earn on the PS3 then? What a funny way of saying GT has been outclassed by Forza for years, spin-offs included.
@Kribwalker and @Septic Then I ask you again, why Forza Motorsport 7 sold less than Forza Motorsport 4 ? Give me the explanation from you guys. Forza Motorsport 4 have to be more than being nostalgia which Forza Motorsport 7 is missing something important.
@UCForce "Forza Motorsport 4 have to be more than being nostalgia which Forza Motorsport 7 is missing something important." What are you on about? Its simple- the PS4 has a massive player base. Forza's quality has obviously improved. Critically it shat all over GT Sport, which is one of the worst reviewed GT games ever. What do you want me to explain? Why sales for Forza are lower than previous games? Don't you always talk about 'franchise fatigue' yourself? PS4 fans are desperate to get a half-decent racer on their hands. They obviously don't have the luxury of having a racer like Forza on their console.
@UC "PD say that there will be free content on the way. They are more transparent with their community than Turn 10. PD are promising to bring back the old cars from previous GT games" That is all fine and good but I cant help feel this was done in response to the lower than expected scores it was getting. I mean if they were so sure their idea for the game was what it was then there would be no need to give back things people were initially expecting from a traditional GT game. Remember... people were saying this was NOT a traditional GT game and now it seems they are trying to make it one with old cars and more offline content like traditional GT games previously. PD F'd up and Sony let em... now they are trying to make up for that mistake. i like GT sport but i would have liked a real GT7 even better.
@Septic Try harder
@Septic: When has Forza ever outsold GT? Likewise "worst GT review" does not translate to a bad or low scoring review. Hell, fairly certain that reviews between GT and Forza have only ever differed by one point of each other. "PS4 fans are desperate to get a half-decent racer on their hands. They obviously don't have the luxury of having a racer like Forza on their console." FFS dude, get over it already.
@UCForce what free content? How many cars, which models, what tracks? I'm sure you can answer these questions with ease, seeing as how Polyphony are so "transparent with their community"... And why do you keep going on about Forza 4 sales? GT Sport hasn't outsold GT3 has it?
@Godmars "Likewise "worst GT review" does not translate to a bad or low scoring review. Hell, fairly certain that reviews between GT and Forza have only ever differed by one point of each other. " Wtf are you on about? Differed by one point? Have you not seen the reviews for GT Sport or metacritic? They differ by a lot more than one point.... https://imgur.com/a/DM55R "FFS dude, get over it already." Get over what? The fact that you can't tell the difference between blatantly obvious difference in review scores?
Yes, brand loyalty. Just like brand loyalty helped keep the PS3 afloat until it started getting decent exclusives like MGS4. GT has a huge loyal fan base. Even Prologue sold into the millions. Review scores don't seem to matter.
Fz7 is also available on pc and the install base is huge. Gtsport is only available on the ps4
Septic, moldypizza, and krib It's like a group therapy session in here.
gt was always the better simulator car game only xbox fangirls say otherwise the only thing that pissing ppl off badly is the no car damage in GT really dont understand why they dont apply this...while 8 out of 10 car games have the option really
Brand loyalty is often earned somehow. There's a reason that GT is so popular. On top of that, the only issue that most reviews have with GT:S is the nature of the content, with a few docking points for a reduction in content from prior installments. but they say what content that's there is really good. Mostly in the driving area, where they say it's the best in the series. Call me crazy, but seems to me the driving aspect is the most important part of any driving game. Anyhow, GT earned its reputation on it's own merits. It didn't earn it by being better than Forza, and most people that play GT, probably either don't care about Forza, or even heard of it. Forza didn't earn loyalty among those people, and there is no reason that it should if someone isn't on Xbox, or now PC. GT has always been popular, even in generations where there are plentiful quality racers, because it has always been an exemplary racing game. Is that really so hard to understand for the people that are so desperately trying to downplay GT's popularity, and how it compares to Forza? It's not hard for me to understand why there are people who really like the xbox brand. They earned some respect last gen with their focus on games, and quality ones at that. What baffles me is why some people still hold onto hope that MS will ever achieve that same level of impressive output to continue to maintain that loyalty.
"Get over what? The fact that you can't tell the difference between blatantly obvious difference in review scores?" How about you thinking a 100 point scale doesn't equal 8.6 or 7.6, representing a one point difference, on a 10 point scale?
@platnium fan Grand turismo is 3 buddy lol star wars battlefront is 4..
Forza 7 is a really good game though.
it's called "real racing for people that want to be competitive" vs f7 for people that do everything but take racing competitively. you know like looking at their cars or skating around hanger bay's. when you look for a review try looking at actual sites that put racing first and the score is higher than f7. as opposed to casual racing reviewers that cry because the game doesn't have a school bus in it.
According to all the critics, the low score was because the lack of a single player component. With that being fixed very soon, should that kill that argument?
Clearly it's a step above Forza. Always has been I'd rank it even higher. Replay value/fun factor is what games should be measured by and in this case very high. Like Gamepro used to.
Nice! Got GT Sport for my birthday last month. Love it. The driving just feels so good. I'm surprisingly really happy just playing arcade races and the driving school. Haven't touched the online for the main game and with a proper campaign on the way I likely never will. As an aaide, I just got crash in the 12 deals of Christmas sale. Holy wow it's a fantastic re-do. Very fun to play and look incredible.
They have promised 50 cars by March 2018 and GT mode and some 10 cars will come this month as an update. If they keep updating the game all the disappointing reviews, press cannot stop GTS dominating other sim racers
I love GT Sport, but PC2 still has the throat for the simulation racing. The fact that GT6 was granted free content for over two years signals that the same will be coming to GTS. M$ just has you collecting cars and paying for more. I played Forza 7 on PC, and its garbage.
but PC2 is ugly as helllll man lool
It's far from ugly. it also has transitioning weather environments. Have you not seen people's screenshots? it's lifelike.
Jesus 8 downvotes? Sounds like you haters aren't good at genuine simulation racing.
what about GT makes it not a genuine racing simulator?? lmao
To my knowledge, the PC2 runs WAY better on the PC compared to consoles which is why you are getting the down votes. I don't think I heard one good thing about PC 2 on consoles. I PC it is a whole different story, and I know a lot of people didn't like how the developers asked for more money to make the second PC 2. Once again ,I don't know much.
On PS4 PC2 definitely isn't a good looking game. The true dynamic time and weather are nice and the physics feel good with a wheel.
It performs badly on consoles, meanwhile GTS is the better looking game all around and performs much better.
@squidback go play pc2 with a wheel. the feel of the cars is much more difficult. there's much more difficulty involved in handling each individual car. Not to mention just having weather raises the bar. GTS definitely is more on the simulation side than forza.
can you remeber what GT5 was like at 2.0 update? the same will be for GTS constant game updates and new stuff to be getting on with. The new single player modes will be fun for those that was on the fence and keep the cars and feaures coming. only thing i wish for is vehicle upgrades i understand the nature of the game with fia that you wont be able to take those cars online but we should be able to on normal PvP races
Welp glad I supported it, twice :) Edit: "Kazunori Yamauchi has said that the game’s cars would not look out of place on the PS5." Did he just confirm PS4 BC on the PS5?? And GTAV is a freaking BEAST like seriously how this game isn't in every household by now lOl. It's been in the top ten since it came out on the PS3/360 lOl
No. He confirmed that the car models in GT Sport are high enough quality to be re-used when they develop a GT game for the PS5.
All PS4 games will be bc on PS5.
As much as I think GT deserves this, I gotta say Horizon deserves it even more. More people should buy Horizon, as I think it is one of the best games this gen.
@Kun_ADR “As much as I think GT deserves this, I gotta say Horizon deserves it even more.” If it deserved it then it would’ve sold better. Let the games do the talking.
Surely, you're not saying COD is one of the greatest and one of the most deserving game of all time.
@TamkCrossing “COD fan?” @PLAYWATCH76 “Surely, you're not saying COD is one of the greatest and one of the most deserving game of all time.” Call of Duty sells on brand appeal.
Nobody deserves anything, you work for it an effort to better increase the possibility that you obtain it. Thats it.
I was refering to Horizon Zero Dawn, but yeah, people here are quick to make assumptions, especially regarding games that are not on their console. Also, Forza Horizon isn’t even a 2017 game.
when you don't specify people do make assumptions
@leoms, The article is about PS4 games. I don't really see how anyone could reasonably think he was talking about Forza Horizon.
Aaaaand you notice how quickly your agree to disagree count suddenly flipped didn't ya? Lmao too funny.
Except the comparison is completely irrelevant and you're talking about two completely different markets. One does not supersede the other I have no clue where this dumb Narrative of some magical race has come from for game sales lol
one is a new the other is an established ip.
I agree.I love GT Sport but Horizon Zero Dawn is freaking next level stuff.
I love both and this is not an either-or so I'm not entirely sure where this narrative came from. I mean you people are comparing a simulation racing game to an open world RPG....
I think Horizon will have long legs. It's a hard game to miss if you're interested in PS at all. Even 9 months after release people are still talking about it, and it still shows up in a lot of threads and marketing. They even just released a GOTY type edition for the holidays, so I think it'll probably see a surge of sales over the holidays. Horizon is poised to become another UC and GOW type seller for PS, and I think that is good enough to insure that the series will continue.
What on Earth do you mean by deserve? Buddy please put the rest this stupid immature emotional appeal. A game deserves a sale if somebody wants to buy it and play it for fun.... That's it This is not an either-or and have no clue why you folks love creating this stupid either or narrative. People buying both games are two completely different consumer types. One does not supersede the other I bought both games for two completely different reasons.
Oh hi Edmix. It seem I can’t have a nice normal conversation around here without your usual insight post.
@kun-what normal conversation? Buddy you brought this on yourself when you decided you wanted to compare two completely different titles and state one should "deserve" sales over the other completely ignoring their different markets different demographics and this isn't some sort of battle or race or either or. Both games can coexist, and all games are deserving of someone purchasing them if the person was able to have fun playing the game. That's it. There is no Concept in regards to deserve in game sales because the consumer decides what their own free will what they're going to part with their money with your not going to make that decision for them and then proceeded to tell them what they should or shouldn't be purchasing based on who you believe deserves their money. Trust me it's a pretty stupid idea it's why you're having a very hard time defending such a dumb argument. Keep in mind I own both games. Also keep in mind that I like what Horizon zero dawn has done but I'm not going to tell someone what they should or shouldn't do with their money of course I'm going to recommend it for people who like open world RPGs but at the end of the day the decision for someone to purchase a game solely rest on their own free will. So no. I do not believe in the ideal of a game deserving a sale over another game that is something that varies consumer by consumer and I don't believe any individual consumer should be trying to tell everyone else what deserves their attention or money or anything like that.
How many of you bought the VR version of this game? I am thinking about getting it soon.
VR mode is included in the same game, it's not a separate purchase.
I thought for some reason GTS had a separate version of the game. I guess it is all included even in the bundle. My bad! lol
Nope. All in the one game. Just go to arcade menu and should see it down the bottom of the list :)
VR is in every copy. But do your research. VR is very limited in GTS.
1 vs 1 and AI single player mode only. No online for VR.
1v1 AI only, but still... you won't regret it, and you won't want to go back to racing on a flat screen. Disclaimer: "imo".
It's pretty amazing, but it will be more amazing when we get the PS5 and can do full races that way. Gonna be insane and quite a competitive edge vs. relying on mirrors/radar. How well it works now, even in 1v1, is super encouraging.
