I loooove the Persona series. Lets keep it rolling,Atlus.

NewMonday2335d ago

this is about %700 higher than a Persona game would usually sell, hope this pushes Atlus to bring back the team for P6

AspiringProGenji2335d ago (Edited 2335d ago )

That's because every Persona game only gets better and get new fans. I simply cannot wait for more and Shin Megami Tensei. I like how this series has blossomed and the love it gets from the fans.

jaymacx2335d ago

I think think Persona 5 has had positive exposure and great reviews all around. Many people are recognizing how great these games are. This was my first game and has sparked my interest in the series.

_-EDMIX-_2335d ago

Agreed

I hope with Sega now owning them they have the money to get Persona 6 in development like right now!

S2Killinit2335d ago

Its an awesome game. Jt won consumer’s choice award two years in a row btw

Thanks for supporting this game PS4 players! it deserves it!!!

Deep-throat2335d ago

Shipped.

More than 60m PS4 players aren't supporting it.

StormLegend2335d ago

Isn't that how it is with every generation? the Will sold 100 million systems and only 3 million copies of Zelda SS was sold. Same for other games while Just dance and Mario sold tons.

AspiringProGenji2335d ago

Their loss. Atlus already broke even. That is all that matters

There you are, this must be killing you.

guyman2335d ago

And here he comes out of his cave,

Suck it. Persona 5 trounced anything released on the xbox one this year. Lol.

jaymacx2335d ago

There is no need to be negative. JRPGs are not for everyone. Majority of system owners buy the big AAA releases like COD, Assassins Creed, Sports etc. Its good news that more interest is being shown toward Persona series now. Hopefully it continues to grow.

nix2335d ago

Forza 7 is crying in the corner because the entire Xbox community didn't support it.

DarXyde2335d ago

1. If it's shipped, it's retail.

2. How's Forza 7 doing? Extremely well, I'm sure. I mean it's only one of Microsoft's heavily advertised first party games and one of their biggest franchises that's run for so long. It's gotta be crushing it at retail... right?

(I hated using Forza as an example, but you're a tool. Don't y'all ever get tired of trolling?)

_-EDMIX-_2335d ago (Edited 2335d ago )

Millions upon millions of gamers have the freedom of choice and variety to buy whatever they want.

That's why you're not seeing a game on Steam moving a hundred thirty million units or a game on Xbox One moving 20 million units were a game on PlayStation 4 moving 60 million units...

So what you're actually trying to suggest is pretty stupid if you consider it applies to any system.

I mean if you want to be more specific I want you to consider that this game has just out sold Forza 7 and Quantum break along with anything else that Microsoft has released in the last 2 years lol

So much for a "niche" game 😎

Why o why2335d ago

How stupid is that. Loving the bitter tears.

'Already the best selling atlus game. Now go cry about how flopza 7 sold 176k on xbone. Look like all 30 million xboners aren't supporting it. Lmao. Embarassing to get destroyed by a 'niche' JRPG.'

You're too bad.

Platinum_Fan2334d ago

This comment really emphasizes how xbox fans don't get PS4's success.

It's not about what percent of PS4 owners bought Persona it's simply about the fact that Persona was there for them to buy.

Not every person who buys Uncharted will buy Persona 5, not every person who buys Persona 5 will buy Horizon Zero Dawn, not every person who buys Horizon Zero Dawn will buy Everybody's Golf. But the fact that they have all those games means that each of those different gamers will have something that appeals to them and they all bought a PS4.

If you want to catch more fish use a bigger net. If you want to sell more GAME consoles have more GAMES.

ZehnDrachen2334d ago

That's Only for new game sales. No mention of used sales factoring into numbers.

PLAYWATCH762334d ago

Man, stfu. Always trying to rain on PS4. Your agenda is obvious.

Yohshida2335d ago

But I bought it on PS3 because it was 20€ cheaper >.<

Lime1232334d ago

Your financial situation is that bad?

Yohshida2334d ago

Na, difference = almost nothing, why pay more if I can just buy a different game for it? Try it, playing games is fun

I_am_Batman2335d ago

I've just bought it two days ago and have already put 8 hours in.

Minor spoilers: i think it starts out a little slow (even for a JRPG) but once it introduces a couple of systems to the player it starts to be pretty fun. I'm now at the point where I can move around freely for the first time (before the Kamoshida mission). Can't wait to go back and play some more. It's a bummer that the game doesn' t let you make screenshots though.

Deep-throat2335d ago

It means exclusives struggle to sell. Not to mention this game is available on two platforms.

Sooner or later Persona 5 will come to Switch and PC.

Nyxus2335d ago

You do realize this article is talking about the game's succes right? So not sure how you managed to twist it into something else entirely...

G20WLY2335d ago (Edited 2335d ago )

😢 No Xbox love? 😉

Razzer2335d ago

2 million is not struggling. lol

andrewsquall2335d ago

@Deep-throat On Xbone they certainly do. Horizon Zero Dawn struggled to sell? And yet probably sold more than Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 will manage to scrape together in 2018.

Trez12342335d ago

Yet persona 5 sold more than alot of multiplats this gen and its a success. Exclusives are system sellers and even if it sold only 100k, gamers into jrpg would buy a ps3 or ps4 to play it.

bluefox7552335d ago

MS may as well just scrap the Forza series then, huh? Because if that's struggling, Forza is on life support.

vickers5002334d ago

You're welcome, lol. I personally took a 65 dollar risk on it, as I'm not much of a jrpg fan, more of a shooter/wrpg guy myself, but I thought I'd take a dip back into the genre for what people kept describing an event rather than a game release. That video where the dev team basically said they put everything into the game as if it were the last game they were making also helped too, it's rare that you see devs that passionate about making a great game.

The story was phenomenal though, and the art style and music were amazing. Glad I took a risk on it.

Persona franchise is no longer a niche title....About damn time! Bring on SMT!!!

Killa782335d ago

I bought a gtx 1070 the other day and realised today I could've spent the money on a Nintendo switch :(

Killa782334d ago (Edited 2334d ago )

@Unreal I can afford it but it's still a waste of money to not use what is essentially a luxury item.

I do most of my gaming on a PS4 pro. I might put my gtx 770 back in and return the 1070.

The Best Turn-Based RPGs if You Hate Turn-Based Combat

Sea of stars while seeming pretty good so far doesn't belong in the top rpg discussion. There's way better ones. I'd tell them to play star ocean 2. One of the best non turn based rpgs ever. It has everything.

raWfodog125d ago

And if the list is limited to just turn-based RPGs, I can think of better ones to add to this list. You have the Dragon Quest series, the Trails series…Persona 5 Royale is on the list but why limit it to just that one? P3 and P4 were great as well.

Zenzuu126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

The Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, or the Shadow Hearts games has decent enjoyable turn based combat system.

The Persona 5 Series Has Sold Over 9 Million Units Worldwide

The Persona 5 sub-series has surpassed 9 million copies worldwide and now contributes to over 50% of the series' total sales.

shinoff2183305d ago

Would be plus+1 more if they'd settle the fk down and stop re releasing it. I'm waiting on the definitive one over here

BrainSyphoned305d ago

It's ok, I bought 4 to your zero, they don't need your pity purchase. Every version was definitive and has their own perks.
