Convincing your parents to buy you a new console can be a harrowing and challenging mission. They’re all “You’re 41, buy it yourself,” but that’s easier said than done. It sucks but don’t panic, there’s a few simple and effective ways to convince your folks that a Nintendo Switch is a worthy purchase.

I mean this works if you're under 14, and still live with and rely on mommy and daddy, sure lol

This isn't the 90s, so chances are likely they play too nowadays. They should understand. If they don't then convince your grandparents.
"The Switch also has the advantage of its parental control system."
Get real! You know you wouldn't tell them.
"Continue to play without interfering with family time or reducing the quality of your experience thanks to the Switch’s hybrid design."
Most people have 2 or more televisions nowadays, so this is a dead argument.
"You already own a Nintendo 3DS and your parents aren’t convinced it’s worth replacing."
Okay, you've lost. You either need to get a job, start doing chores, or start convincing others you're adopted.
As for the cost and long term, your parents should know because they've play(ed) too and they bought you that 3DS, so they know how your mind works. "Better this than drugs," they'll say.
Their software line up hasn't convince me yet.
