It is inaccurate to believe that development costs are going up. This assumption by many is being pushed as fact but it is not true. They are not. Marketing costs are on the rise. Publishers release fewer games today than they did 5 - 10 years ago. They spend more on marketing than ever before. Loot boxes are being fraudulently pushed as the solution. The truth is that these systems are very high margin as development costs to produce them are very low. What publishers would like to do is raise the price of AAA games at retail and also include microtransactions to continuously milk whales and other gambling addicts. Does anyone think they will raise the base game price of AAA titles and then leave out MT garbage?
Make them free and not buyable. That's the solution.
