Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR | VRFocus

No matter how many times you’ve experienced Skyrim, you’ve never felt it like this.

The gaming gods have blessed us,
This generation might not got to see the the arcades of the 80's but you have it so good right now.

40yr old gamer here and I can say without a doubt that this is the best time in gaming history.

Day one.

gamer for 35+ years here and i can safely say that gaming is floating dead in the water. this gen has been one rehash fest so far with dull and disappointing aaa titles.

funny how opinions can differ, eh? ;-)

I also have been playing games for 35+ years. Back in the days when the arcade was social media/networking. I'd say it has been a year of greatness and huge disappointment at the same time.Lots of rehash? yep so true. But I'd also say some of that rehash is also refinement. For example, I played (and continue to play) Larian Studio's Divinity Original Sin 2. Is that a rehash of the ole isometric rpg? To a degree yes but it is also a refinement. It's a brilliant game and for the money offers tons of replayability and has no microtransactions. I think the saddest state of affairs is what is going on right now with EA's SW BF2 and their randomized MT loot based progression system. This and other such systems is what I will consider the worst part of this year..

I don't own PSVR (yet) but boy SKYRIM in VR sure looks fun.

47 year old gamer here, I too have been playing since the early days and I would say it's a great time to be a gamer.
Obviously games can be hit or miss but if you are to spoiled to appreciate how gaming has evolved over the last 40 years, then maybe you need a new hobby.

I've been gaming for 30 years and while this year has had it's share of troubling trends with services, MT's/loot boxes and such there have also been some amazing games! In particular some great single player games from Sony and Nintendo. I'm having the time of my life and while there are certain companies or publishers who seem to want to change the landscape there are others who are committed to delivering amazing experiences and at the same time reminding me why I started gaming in the first place!

Gaming goes in cycles. The 80's were great, nothing like being a kid in those arcade days, experiencing the magic then. Listening to Kraftwerk and watching Tron in the theatre. The 90's were amazing during the SNES/Genesis days, The PS1 launch, the Dreamcast Launch, the 3DFX 3d acceleration early days with Glide Api, the original Xbox Playing on Xbox Live with Mech Assualt, The Early days of the Xbox 360, and now PSVR. VR mostly reminds me of the days I was buying every Glide enabled game for the 3dFX, constantly scouring magazines and the web seeing what game was coming out or being patched for it. I am now doing the same with VR lol.

The 90's were an exciting time for games. The jump from the SNES to the 64 and PSX was mind blowing! I'll never forget playing Mario 64 for the first time. Putting hours into Turok. Discovering Resident Evil or Abe's Odysee. Infiltrating the Shadow Moses for the first time. Finally getting The Ocarina of Time or seeing how great RE Code Veronica looked on the Dreamcast! I miss the mags from back then too like Gamer Republic, Gamefan, EGM(back then they were really good and I loved the 300 page ones!) and the Dreamcast mags!
