Guerrilla: Videogames Really Allow You To Do These Crazy Things Like Horizon: Zero Dawn

Guerrilla's Art and Animation Director Jan-Bart van Beek said that videogames allow developers to do crazy things like designing Horizon: Zero Dawn's world, unlike other mediums such as movies.

I would like to see a reboot. Maybe a ex soldier now family man on Earth in the suburbs then the Helghast attack and you have a story somewhere in all that. Something different to the generic soldier grunt they usually do.

Originally I didn't think much of this game when it was revealed at E3, but the final game really proved me wrong. Hopefully Guerrilla continue to make these games!

This game didn't live up to my expectation. But I do think it was the best game regarding technical achievement tho.

They need to make a fantasy RPG game like Elder Scrolls and the Witcher.

I'm surprised Sony doesn't have a game in that vein in their 1st party.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wild Arms expanded to an open world game. World is already rife with factions, tons of lore, varied things to apply in game play, and a nice style which can breach the western/eastern artistic design differences that tend to exist in games.

You know I am aswell because when Elder Scrolls isn't out people are looking for their next fix...you just have to look at Elder Scrolls, do a game filled with the very best of that and the stuff they haven't done yet then you'd have a perfect RPG game.

Needs to have a good selection of races, spells, skills and maybe more of a hardcore RPG design like Morrowind and Oblivion had before they dumbed it down in Skyrim...like stats bonuses from races which even differ in gender etc.

I can dig that. I just think a westernized RPG is kind of samey as what we are already getting in the field. I'd like to see something a bit more fanciful in presentation. Not something very Otaku, but not something that goes for the more realistic vibe that we see in ES games.

Otherwise, I agree about the actual game design elements. I would like to see what Sony could do in an open world fantasy game.

Yeah, I'm sure designing a game world is a lot of fun, and bonus: unlike in a movie where even the most lit backgrounds aren't on screen for very long, game worlds invlove actually exploring the surrounding world, meaning set pieces generally have more meaning than simply being background aesthetics...at least in AAA titles.

Robo dinos aren't the craziest concept I've heard. That said, crazy or not, HDZ was a gem of a game that nailed everything it attempted.
