I can only hope this yields more pleasant surprises, like Kingdom Battle.

_-EDMIX-_2351d ago

Trust. They are very pleased with that set up. They spent generations trying to sell IP on Nintendo systems and its clear simply using a Nintendo IP makes more sense. I had a feeling this would be really great for them, no more trial and error I hope from them.

I see them doing more Nintendo properties, I'd like to see them do another Mario RPG, but more like traditional turned based ala Paper Mario or Mario RPG. I wonder if you'll see the likes of EA or Activision making Switch games that use Nintendo properties.

strayanalog2351d ago

You bring up some valid points on EA and Activision. It seems just about anything could happen with the Switch right now.
And with your Mario RPG comment, Edmix, we ‎just became friends. I'm sorry for your gain.‎

wonderfulmonkeyman2350d ago

Agreed.
I'm not expecting many ports from Ubi, so AC Origins is out of my consideration [and would be a HUGE SHOCK if it actually did happen down the road], but I think they might be able to work some decent magic in terms of IP collaborations with Nintendo.

darthv722351d ago

I would like to see a new zombie game.

_-EDMIX-_2351d ago

After Zombie U, that seems unlikely. What is working for them, is clearly using Nintendo characters to sell content to Nintendo fans. I'd like to see them continue that focus.

Heck if anything, they can do some sort of Luigi's mansion with zombies and Luigi fights them with a vacuum or something lol They have a wealth of options considering Nintendo's IPs.

Concertoine2351d ago (Edited 2351d ago )

Zombi U was actually one of the few third party games to break 1 million copies on Wii U. The sales were really as good as it gets for that platform tbh.

I know Ubisoft didnt make money on it - but if they can figure out how to build on that foundation (which was a solid one for a sequel) then they could have a nice niche horror series on Nintendo platforms.

_-EDMIX-_2351d ago

@Concertoine- I didn't know that. Maybe a sequel really is in the works then.

I do't know if it will only be on Nintendo platforms though considering it did come to other systems after. With Switch not having a second screen, we might see it come to Switch, PS4 and XONE day and date.

roadkillers2351d ago

Why do they have to be soo dark, I hate when I can't see what I am doing.

eagle212351d ago

Well they were clever and delivered a good game with critical acclaim (85 on metacritic). Keep up the cleverness. I say continue with the Nintendo IP's. Develop a game for a sure to sell IP like Diddy Kong Racing.

_-EDMIX-_2351d ago

Exactly how I see it. Right now, the first Switch game I see myself buying is that Ubisoft Mario RPG and Animal Crossing, or SMTV if its out at that time.

Bobafret2351d ago

Great news, I will be picking up a Switch on black friday.

_-EDMIX-_2351d ago

I might. I'm on the fence as I really only want to play 1 game which is that Mario RPG game.

I might also get a PSVR if I can get it for like $199 and even that is a maybe, I mean I already own RE7 and RIGS was free on PSN.

DARK_FOX2351d ago (Edited 2351d ago )

You don't want to play Zelda Breath Of The Wild, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Pokken Tournament, Arms, Fire Emblem Warriors, or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Then we also have coming out Metroid Prime 4, Shin Megami Tensei, No More Heores, Pokemon RPG, new Yoshi game, New Kirby game!!!!!!!! SO MANY!!!!

_-EDMIX-_2351d ago

@Dark- I already played BOTW on Wii U

I'll likely play Kirby and that new Yoshi game. The rest....not really. Not every gamer who looks to buy a Nintendo system buys all those games, consider its why they are not all selling the exact amount of units sold of the system ie 100% attach rate. Also consider many of what I want isn't even out yet, Animal Crossing hasn't been confirmed and no release date yet for SMTV as that likely is not coming this fall, so for me...it is only 1 game this fall.

...for me its 1 game this fall. "I might. I'm on the fence" Soooooo yea. If all Switch owners really cared about those game that much, ALL Nintendo published games would be moving bigger units, its clear we ALL don't think that as the sales sorta show that.

"Invincible" AAA Game Crowdfunding Campaign Launched by Skybound

Skybound Entertainment has launched the crowdfunding campaign for its AAA Invincible game with a minimum investment set at $100.

phoenixwing1d 2h ago

These ppl are terrible. expecting gamers to pick up the dev costs with high as he'll initial investment. When they probably already have the funds considering they already hired a team of 30 and have the creator backing them.

Inverno22h ago

They seem to be crowdfunding the idea of a studio rather than an actual game. It's already at near half a million and there isn't even concept/any kind of proof of concept. People throwing so much money at something that'll most likely be too big for crowd funding alone and will have em partner up with a publisher.

PhillyDonJawn18h ago

I was just saying, they need to make this a game

-Foxtrot13h ago

Big IPs like this shouldn’t need crowdfunding

PS3gamer4life5h ago

I bet if fans put money into they won't finish it I never believe this crap

Former Blizzard President Suggests Players Should Have Option to Tip Developers

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently suggested an interesting concept that has sparked a debate among gamers - the idea of being able to tip developers after completing a game.

LG_Fox_Brazil2d ago

If I had a 100% way to be sure that this money would go to a fund or a reserve dedicated only to the guys who develop the games, be them designers, artists, programmers and so on, I could think about it.

But we all know that this 'tip' would only end up in a publisher's CEO pocket to buy a new yacht, so, no, I ain't tipping anyone anytime soon on this industry

neutralgamer19921d 7h ago

Exactly these companies were raising money for good causes and gamers were donation and come to find out they are keeping a good chunk of be pie

PapaBop22h ago

Yeah tip your developer, 5% proceeds go to developer, 95% to the publisher or whoever. Isn't tipping for staff not making minimum wage? How about they just pay their developers properly and like you know, give them fair bonuses? Too much to ask from Blizzard these days, Kotick saw to that and is now laughing all the way to the bank.

MrDead1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

It's the t**ts at the top looking at ways to cut devs wages and get the players to tip them like waiting staff, and I'll guarantee a percentage is skimmed and kept by Activision Blizzard. This is 100% for shareholder and CEO playouts.

Popsicle1d 6h ago (Edited 1d 6h ago )

I have to agree with this. On the surface tipping devs sounds like a great idea, but in the end it leads to pay cuts and subsidization of pay. Tips then become an expectation or the devs “can’t make a living.” Lastly, especially in the US, tip culture has gotten out of control, and it serves as an excuse not to properly pay employees. Sounds good but doesn’t end well.

drizzom8h ago

@ Popsicle

I think your right on the nose with how much tipping has become rampant. Instead of it being a relationship directly between the customer and the developer or employee, it now has a middle man ingrained in the system. DoorDash is one example. It ends up becoming a metric where the company can measure 'just how much more money you are willing to part with' before raising the price on the main product.

1Victor1d 3h ago

Uh so they’re trying triple dip or more we buy the game that they’re already withholding/cutting content for dlc we was told that season pass would help the developers thrive we felt for it.
Now on top of all that plus their sales bonus they want tips enough is enough whatever happens to you create/built a good game get a bonus for sales milestones you care about your game and community we reward you with more sales not for doing 3/4 of a game then save the other 1/4 for dlc and passes after

raWfodog1d 1h ago

The 'tip' is me buying your game in the first place.

S2Killinit23h ago

Very well said. If it was possible to send the money to either the developer or some organization for the betterment of gaming, sure. But we all know that will not be the case.

Rynxie20h ago(Edited 20h ago)

No, it would go to those on the top. They will still fire developers, have a bunch of microtransactions, raise prices of games and so on.

So they eventually don't pay their workers and depend on our tips to pay them like the case with waiters!

Deeeeznuuuts1d 6h ago

That kind of practice is only normal in the states, as far as I know anyway, what a backwards system

H91d 5h ago

No it's as well in a every country that wants to amercanize

bloop1d 4h ago

Ireland is literally the first stop across the pond and we don't have a tipping culture. The only establishments here that would expect a tip are the tourist haunts that Americans visit. Other than that, you might tip in a restaurant as a sign of gratitude for great service and waiting staff would be paid a full wage anyway.

Rebel_Scum22h ago

Tipping is not customary iin most countries dude. Get a passport lol.

Jin_Sakai2d ago

Is this a joke? How about the big wigs giving up some of their pay for their hard working developers.

MrBaskerville1d 8h ago

Maybe the CEO could earn his money based on tips.

mastershredder2d ago

good god. The devs are not baristas dude. Total 1% ideals. Fing Chadosaurus.

I would kill to have a Way of the Samurai game with a huge budget and modern tech... The first game was one of my greatest joys on PS2 back in the day. And I really hope From Software will do something with Tenchu... I hate that they're just sitting on the IP like it doesn't even exist.

Relientk774d ago

Don't play with my feelings like that.

Also, new Tenchu please!

TheColbertinator4d ago

Tenchu would be superb in this day and age. Ninja and samurai games are hot right now and more is better.
