Assassin’s Creed Origins PS4 vs PS4 Pro Graphics Comparison

Assassin’s Creed Origins has been released and it introduced highly anticipated revolution to the series in terms of gameplay and mechanics alongside beautiful graphics. The game was promoted mostly with Xbox One X footage , and on every promotional video t looked just gorgeous. Since latest Microsoft console hasn’t been release out to the wild let’s focus on available mid-gen hardware. It’s time to compare how newest Assassin’s adventure looks running on PS4 Pro and regular version of it. Sadly, at this point it seems that more powerful Sony machine can’t count on dedicated display mode so both versions looks almost identical. Let’s hope Ubisoft will release similar patch as it was promised for XBox One X edition.
How do you like PS4 graphics anyway?

Not enough difference for my eyes.
Gonna enjoy it on the OG PS4.

TyrellCorp2737d ago

The video is being displayed at 1080p, there are 4k captures on YouTube if you wanna see the difference. It’s nice but still not massive, these mid gen refreshes have definitely hit the point of diminishing returns imo.

Zeref2737d ago

yeah if we're talking about ps4 pro.

Gaming1012736d ago

There is no Pro patch for AC yet, so it looks identical right now. Just like Evil Within 2, they're doing the patch post release.

TheKingKratos2736d ago

they seems to patch it now as the pro offer:
- Pro offers noticeable improvement in image quality thanks to it's temporal components
- Otherwise in terms of core visual features are identical in PS4 Pro and OG.
- Occasional scenes show better texture quality on Pro (Could be streaming bug).
- Texture filtering, mipmaps and Ambient Occlusion are improved on Pro.
- PS4 Pro supports super sampling for 1080p TV's.

on a highly compressed youtube video you can still see significant improvement, the difference on actual output to a large 4k tv will be massive.

CP_Company2737d ago

people speaking that there is no support for Pro. that is why it is looking like 1:1.

Ju2737d ago

The problem with video comparison is, that they are a) the same resolution and b) the players apply filters like crazy. But when the biggest difference is sharpness and resolution, of course such a video won't capture that

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2737d ago

What more support should there be besides a more stable framerate and higher native res? The RAM amount is the same so there won't be any higher res textures or LOD. Smaller less taxing graphical effects like AO and Shadow quality should be a little better though imo

Ju2737d ago

The lod usually are not necessarily a ram thing, also draw distance is usually improved and sometimes shadow's have slightly higher resolution (but that is a ram issue)

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2737d ago

Yes it is... More items on Screen per frame, this includes Draw distance and many other effects.

Ju2736d ago (Edited 2736d ago )

Geometry instancing etc can save memory. It's not just memory which is a factor here. And lod is performance limited. The more bandwidth the higher you can go with lod levels. They are probably always there but trigger different on Pro and Slim

gammaray132737d ago

there is no support for pro what so ever

Crazywhitie2737d ago

Right. I've been saying this for awhile. I really starting to feel ripped off with the Pro

TKCMuzzer2737d ago

eh, Horizon Zero Dawn, GTSport (fantastic in HDR on the Pro), Wipeout........there is plenty, but just like the upcoming 'X', you will only see the real support from 1st party studios and 3rd party if they can be bothered (Witcher 3 is a good example along with Tombraider of good 3rd party). People hoping 3rd party are going to throw extra at the Pro and X are mistaken, the main 'sales' base is still the OG consoles.

Ceaser98573612737d ago

HDR for PS4 pro will release in Nov along with xbox x getting the 4k update. Confirmed ..

MegaMohsi2737d ago

fake news, PS4 Pro has a 4k mode in this game. HDR will be patched in probably when the X update comes out.

Bigpappy2737d ago

4K without supporting textures wouldn't make much of a difference

Ju2737d ago

^^^ how would you even know that? Given the fact you must have never played such a game

DarXyde2737d ago

I think we both know that's objectively false.

It isn't well supported, but it still has some support.

Sony just needs to enforce Pro support. I'm supposing it's optional at the moment, so a mandate would work wonders.

Like most of the differences, a 4K TV in front of your own eyes is the only true way to see. This will be the same for all comparisons going forward for both mid gen consoles. Unless you see things running on an actual 4K TV your very unlikely to see any differences.

Ju2737d ago

Absolutely true. Guess which other console will have same problem... But reactions will be totally different.

blackblades2737d ago

Yeah, but it seems people just don't get it for some reason.

Elda2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

Absolutely! I've been saying this all along.Unless you're sitting 2 to 5 feet in front of the tv screen you can see a difference, folks siiting 7 ft or more won't be able to. First party developers will make the games on mid gen consoles shine like Sony has for the Pro.

AC Origins is the last great Ubisoft game. Period. This game show how great the Ubisoft story writing once was. Also the meticulous research Ubisoft did in the field of Egyptology. Ubisoft was so pride of their research that it made a separate Touring mode just to showcase all of their study.

10 Video Game Sequels That Saved Their Franchise

Video game sequels like Assassin's Creed Origins, Doom (2016), and Fire Emblem Awakening were just what these franchises needed to be revitalized.

Immagaiden720d ago

Lmao what’s Halo Infinite doing on this list?

Who would ever say Halo Infinite saved the Halo franchise

SullysCigar720d ago

Thought the same - very bizarre!

RE7 though... my God, what a shift over RE6! That franchise was definitely going in the wrong direction, so RE7 was a welcome return to form.

ModsDoBetter720d ago

Resi 6 was and still is the worst entry in the series.
7 was a great turnaround, despite people’s concerned about the switch to FP perspective.

DMC5 definitely helped the franchise after the whole DmC debacle. Whilst it was a decent action game, it was a far cry from the series and the characters we knew.

AC Origins is my favourite in the entire AC series. Despite the switch to a more RPG style of gameplay - the setting, soundtrack, length, etc were all amazing. sadly followed up by the ridiculously long and “more of the same” Odsyssey.

I don’t feel it’s fair to say the franchise slipped with Doom 3, Doom 3 was incredibly atmospheric and took the game in a different direction but there’s no denying Doom (2016) was sensational.

Halo 4 & 5 were disappointing but Halo Infinite definitely didn’t save the franchise? What?

TheEnigma313720d ago (Edited 720d ago )

I'm going to have to go with SMB 3. I was around when SMB 2 first came out and people hated it. 3 is still arguably the best mario game created.

HellspawnPR1981720d ago

"Halo Infinite"? Worse Halo ever. Whoever made this list just lost all credibility.

Hofstaderman720d ago

In future lists of a similar nature I have a suspicion Final Fantasy XVI will feature.

Six Best Historically Accurate Games

GF365: "Out of the many historically accurate games out there, these are our picks for the six best games that are historically accurate. While these games aren't completely accurate, they depict the times and situations of history well. Plus, they're all a lot of fun to play, too."

Historically accurate from the past is tough to truly know and judge especially the farther you go back because history is written from the people in power and doesn’t mean it’s the truth just the narrative they wanted to tell.

I don’t care about historically accurate in most games because they are games not biographies or history books . Just make the game fun , good gameplay and such .

Ghost of Tsushima wasn’t historically accurate in many things but I loved the game . Many examples like it .
