Assassin's Creed: Origins Review | RPG Site

RPG Site: "Assassin’s Creed: Origins offers an engrossing and deeply satisfying open world in the lands of Egypt. Gorgeous visuals make it a lovely place to explore with rich environments. Still, the excessive amount of bugs at launch are devastating and hampered my experience significantly. Add to that a poorly paced narrative devoid of substantial character development and a battle system that fails to meet its full potential and I can't help but feel something important is missing, Regardless, Assassin's Creed: Origins has a lot to offer new and old fans alike - though the state of its technical performance at launch is highly questionable."

Ringing any bells anyone ?

Bigpappy2762d ago

May be they spent too much time on the x1X version. They should patch the bugs soon though. That's how modern releases seem to work. Or they ship them with very little content and add will DLC.

Italiano12345672761d ago

Nope cause it was confirmed theres bugs and everything else in the x1 version

Eonjay2761d ago

Coming off from a yearly release schedule to a biyearly one, most would expect that the extra time would allow them to address bugs. Syndicate didn't have these issues but Unity did. They seem to have issue when focusing to much on paid marketing deals from Microsoft.

Been playing for a few hours yesterday and haven't noticed anything that "hampered my experience significantly"......

mafiahajeri2761d ago

You seem like the kind of guy who only gets hampered when the game actually freezes 😂

harv0522761d ago

Not really lol! If a game really is unplayable, I'll call it for it! AC:O is far, very far from unplayable! I hate glitches and bugs as much as anyone, but for massive Open world games, there's bound to be a few....

Mithan2761d ago

Well, all the other reviews for the most part are in the 80-90% range, so this is a big outlier.

I was listening to an Ign podcast and the reviewer there said ubisoft gave her a copy with bugs in it to play on a development kit so that she can get the review in on time. But she liked the game anyway not judging by the situation she played it in. I think she said she would update her review once the bugs were fixed.

SegaGamer2761d ago

Update the review once the bugs are fixed ? that is just stupid. We will never get rid of this "release now, patch later" habit if they are going to let them off like that.

Movefasta19932761d ago (Edited 2761d ago )

Day 1 patch ,that’s what they said

Stanjara2761d ago

Now we are getting patches for reviews? OMG!

Black0ut2761d ago

Ouch. Reviewer must have been pretty unimpressed considering the PS4 version is sitting at around 84 on MC.

In saying that though, if the bugs are that obvious then most people should be scoring against it. Same goes for shoddy performance; It's not acceptable.

Dark_Knightmare22761d ago (Edited 2761d ago )

Not everyone experiences bugs and most of the reviews have stated there's some things here and there that are buggy like most open world games but nothing like unity and nothing that hampers the experience.

DrumBeat2761d ago

It's gotta be the engines. Ubi's AC engine always has these bugs, just like Bethesda's Fallout/Skyrim Creation engine. Other games from these guys don't have those bugs.

Nodoze2761d ago

Yup. This review is MUCH more accurate than IGN's token 9.

AC Origins is the last great Ubisoft game. Period. This game show how great the Ubisoft story writing once was. Also the meticulous research Ubisoft did in the field of Egyptology. Ubisoft was so pride of their research that it made a separate Touring mode just to showcase all of their study.

10 Video Game Sequels That Saved Their Franchise

Video game sequels like Assassin's Creed Origins, Doom (2016), and Fire Emblem Awakening were just what these franchises needed to be revitalized.

Immagaiden745d ago

Lmao what’s Halo Infinite doing on this list?

Who would ever say Halo Infinite saved the Halo franchise

SullysCigar744d ago

Thought the same - very bizarre!

RE7 though... my God, what a shift over RE6! That franchise was definitely going in the wrong direction, so RE7 was a welcome return to form.

ModsDoBetter744d ago

Resi 6 was and still is the worst entry in the series.
7 was a great turnaround, despite people’s concerned about the switch to FP perspective.

DMC5 definitely helped the franchise after the whole DmC debacle. Whilst it was a decent action game, it was a far cry from the series and the characters we knew.

AC Origins is my favourite in the entire AC series. Despite the switch to a more RPG style of gameplay - the setting, soundtrack, length, etc were all amazing. sadly followed up by the ridiculously long and “more of the same” Odsyssey.

I don’t feel it’s fair to say the franchise slipped with Doom 3, Doom 3 was incredibly atmospheric and took the game in a different direction but there’s no denying Doom (2016) was sensational.

Halo 4 & 5 were disappointing but Halo Infinite definitely didn’t save the franchise? What?

TheEnigma313744d ago (Edited 744d ago )

I'm going to have to go with SMB 3. I was around when SMB 2 first came out and people hated it. 3 is still arguably the best mario game created.

HellspawnPR1981744d ago

"Halo Infinite"? Worse Halo ever. Whoever made this list just lost all credibility.

Hofstaderman744d ago

In future lists of a similar nature I have a suspicion Final Fantasy XVI will feature.

Six Best Historically Accurate Games

GF365: "Out of the many historically accurate games out there, these are our picks for the six best games that are historically accurate. While these games aren't completely accurate, they depict the times and situations of history well. Plus, they're all a lot of fun to play, too."

Historically accurate from the past is tough to truly know and judge especially the farther you go back because history is written from the people in power and doesn’t mean it’s the truth just the narrative they wanted to tell.

I don’t care about historically accurate in most games because they are games not biographies or history books . Just make the game fun , good gameplay and such .

Ghost of Tsushima wasn’t historically accurate in many things but I loved the game . Many examples like it .
