The Legend of Zelda Wii U E3 2011 Tech Demo recreated in Unreal Engine 4, available for download

DSOGaming writes: "Remember the Legend of Zelda Wii U tech demo that Nintendo showcased back in E3 2011? Well, Aklar_45 has recreated that tech demo in Unreal Engine 4, and has released it to the public. So yeah, while Wii U and Switch owners won't get a Zelda game looking as good as that tech demo, PC gamers can at least get a taste of it."

Would be pretty awesome to see a Zelda like this.

nitus102373d ago

I do agree but I would not be surprised if Nintendo puts out a takedown notice on the video/tech demo

lol what? We didn't even get to see anything new. Didn't know they were even present.

-Foxtrot2798d ago

How? Hardly anything new was shown off. Is this because Zelda + Nintendo

Personally I'd give it to Yooka-Laylee

wonderfulmonkeyman2798d ago (Edited 2798d ago )

Does it matter whether it was new or not?
I don't think that's how Gamescom judges what wins. Zelda got the award because it's an exciting game, and after all the hate Nintendo has gotten lately outside of BotW, I can't see the logic in equating it to "because Nintendo".XD

That said, I agree with Yooka-Laylee being deserving of an award or two as well; They've really struck gold with it.
I wonder if they'll consider a sequel soon afterwards?

The new zelda graphics have so much (unique) attention to detail, that nintendo will surely win awards (again) for best looking game ever created, my boy.

This is actually pretty cool. I can't wait until the final game is released to really explore the temple.

guywazeldatatt2804d ago

I'm wondering how much better the NX version will look. supposedly it will look better. the wii u version looked incredible; can't wait to get my hands on them both.

AJBACK2FRAG2803d ago

Nintendo already said it would be the same game. I stupidly thought this game was going to have online multiplayer because different areas were so huge! Look''s like a gorgeous way to send off the Wii U We had to wait for it but it's absolutely a love letter to Nintendo fan's.

wonderfulmonkeyman2804d ago

I wonder what the glow around the statue of the Goddess will do in the full game, when you interact with it?
I'm guessing something minor like a return to full health, but for all we know, that glow could be a cutscene trigger, or even a special trigger for restoring a small part of the memories Link has forgotten during his 100 year slumber...

guywazeldatatt2804d ago

Unfortunately I didn't interact with it as my time was short, but, just seeing it gave me chills. It was a really emotional moment for me.

wonderfulmonkeyman2804d ago

I saw them interact with it in a previous video, and all it did in the demo was pop up some text saying something akin to "The Goddess smiles upon you".
I'm sure the full game will have it do something more than just that.

quent2804d ago

Just beautiful, I hope the nx will have a cheaper launch price then the wiiu, looking to get back into the ninty games.

guywazeldatatt2804d ago

I assume you don't have a Wii U lol. I'm getting both but figure I'll have an easier time getting a review copy with the Wii U version than NX. I really cannot wait for this game!

SkippyPaccino2804d ago

I pre-ordered it on Wii-u, now just waiting to see what the nx is all about before I pull the trigger.

guywazeldatatt2804d ago

The game is worth it. Playing it at E3 was....well it was the highlight of the show for me.

Why Breath of the Wild Will Divide Zelda Fans

Alex St-Amour from Link-Cable writes: "In all of video gaming, no series elicits a more fervent following than The Legend of Zelda. Fans of the long running series will often debate without end which game is the best and the reasons why. Some prefer the classic 2D games like A Link to the Past while others prefer the 3D world of Ocarina of Time. On top of this gamers are also divided along the lines of what makes a Zelda game great whether its the puzzles and combat or the story and characters. With Breath of the Wild a few months away, Zelda fans are waiting with bated breath (see what I did there?) for the next game in the Zelda series. What they might not expect though is for this to be one of the most divisive games in the series yet."

Breath of the Wild is returning to what the series established in the very first game, exploration and puzzle solving, just with some modern concepts thrown in. All Zelda games have puzzle solving but none have had complete freedom of exploration since the first game 30 years ago. I fail to see how BotW will divide Zelda fans, it is staying true to the core of what makes a Zelda game a Zelda game, though I will miss the motion controls from Skyward Sword. I honestly think this article was written by someone who HAS NOT been playing Zelda since the beginning otherwise he would not have published this in the first place.

All of the above I typed without actually reading the article. Now that I have read the article I'm convinced that this person has not been playing Zelda since the beginning, if at all. Story has hardly been too much of a concern in Zelda games. I'm not saying the story is bad in Zelda games, just that they aren't the main focus for the most part. The author brings up Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword as good examples of storytelling, which I would agree with, but why leave out Wind Waker? I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, I'm all for Zelda games having more fleshed out stories but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it if they don't. I think BotW is going to have a more fleshed out story than most people think, and who knows, maybe it will have multiple endings based on what all you did before you beat the game.

Metallox2834d ago

Disappointing article (forgot that this is N4G). The author only brings up story as the only reason on why Breath of the Wild will divide fans, I think it will, but not because of narrative at all.

On another note, he claims that Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword have good stories, something that I'd hardly agree with, at least with the former. I mean, there's a series of articles from Zelda Informer that explain why TP suffers in the narrative department, and it also tries to propose solutions, which may not be the best, but at least the author clearly details the issues with the storytelling in TP, if by any chance they weren't plain obvious when you first played the game.

Skyward Sword is a great step in the right direction, but it was still one of the things less worthy to highlight from the game. I agree with your sentiment about Wind Waker, though, Zeldafan, that game has very powerful themes, to the point where I think that, despite having a simple narrative, it's still very well done.

Zeldafan642834d ago

I think from a story telling standpoint Skyward Sword is the best game in the series, as well, at least for me, in the gameplay as well, also in the overall soundtrack.
In regards to Twilight Princess I've seen people say that they don't like the way Zelda is portrayed in the game. They say she's emotionless and boring. I don't understand why anyone would say that given the circumstances under which you meet her. In Skyward Sword she's happy and cheerful which makes sense, she's your childhood friend and she's led a happy, carefree life without any sort of real hardship. When you meet her in Twilight Princess her castle has been taken over and there really wasn't anything she could have done to stop it. Of course she is going to be sullen and downtrodden. People don't take the context of how you meet someone into consideration at all and that baffles me.
