Demon's Souls Looks Incredible in First Screenshots

The newly announced RPG Demon's Souls is going to be shown off later this week in playable form at the Tokyo Game Show, but 1up.com has some screenshots of the game for you to check out right now -- and they look terrific. The game looks quite a bit like Oblivion, just without any of those terribly ugly people in it. Last week's issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine explained that the game -- being designed by From Software, the team best known for the Armored Core series -- might play a lot like Oblivion or any other title in the Elder Scrolls series, too.

Since SCEJ are publishing this title, i can imagine they would offer a considerable amount of development support and influence on this title.

I would be excited if it weren't for the developer... I really hope the game is at least in the 8 range... if so, the graphics are gorgeous & I'll definitely buy it!

Not too shabby, hopefully this and White Knight Chronicles is a sign of great JRPG's for the PS3 to come in addition to Eternal Sonata the 21st. WKC is just going to be explosive in Japan in December, everybody knows the quality that Level-5 puts out, PS3 will overtake the 360 by storm I believe near Christmas, or possibly earlier. Though its possible there may be a battle of epic preportions due to Last Remnant VS WKC, its gonna be intense!

yeah there are some new pictures

i can understand why some are apprehensive about getting excited about a new project from "from software" (first things first get a new name for your studio). but in their defense, they are not bad developers. their games just lack substance, story, something that draws the gamer into the game world. their mechanics are good, their graphics are good, control schemes are all good from the developer. but their games are a bit boring.. with that said

if scej is taking over i expect an outside source to be tapped for story and direction.. from software seems to be the developer by of doing the coding and stuff like that, which on the 360 and ps3 they do well, didnt pay the 360 version but armored core for answer played well on the ps3.

keeping my fingers crossed,. this is exactly the type of announcements sony needs....

western RPGs are not my thing especially with the form of elder scrolls.. i hate first person RPGs and a Japanese RPG going the western roots is off the map for me... while i'm happy the PS3 is getting more exclusive RPGs... this one if it's anything like oblivion then i'll skip it... way too slow and clunky and the pacing put me to sleep.

for everyone else that likes this kind of gameplay, go for it. I'll look forward to the next suikoden (please konami Please make it the PS3 announcement) and level 5's WKC...

Gorgeous screen shots. Why is it that games made with PS3 architecture in mind look miles ahead of games made with 360 architecture in mind? I think the games that stand out graphically so far this generation are:

I played Mass effect for a few days straight.The graphics aren't all that impressive.There only good when you're in a conversation.

The face models of the A.I look really good.Yet they look so fake at the same time.they look..well..robotic

And i find that's 360's BEST looking game.And its full of frame-rate issues,slow down's,jaggies.

They made Enchanted Arms. I loved Oblivion so I hope with sony's love and care it'll be good. We'll see in a couple of days.

It doesn't look incredible. That's a drastic overstatement.

It does look very good, and the PS3 badly needs RPGs, so this is surprising and excellent to see.

Gameplay is make or break in an RPG, so lets hope they nail that. Visually I think it looks about on par with what we expect now that developers have their head around the hardware. With the current PS3 titles about to hit, these graphics are not going to be standout by comparison.

That Game is no RPG! It was introduced in Famitsu as Action/Adventure with RPG Elements.
