The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro patch has just arrived, adding 4K resolution support and a "slight" boost to performance.
Yes, supersampling and Native 4K has been confirmed by CDPR, NX Gamer and pixel counters on NeoGAF.
Thank you, Kratos No.2
Does that make me the third wheel? 😟
@Genuine-User "Yes, supersampling and Native 4K has been confirmed by CDPR" Not Native 4K hombre. CDPR implemented a combination of 1440p/1600p using a dynamic resolution scaler, then checkerboarded to 2160p (4K) The difference is stark, can see details missing from 1080p version. Patch was only 130+MB, not enough data to be Native 4K.
you dont need a ton of data to go native 4k, the textures are already high enough quality. I wish people would study how graphics are rendered just a little more, even journalists get it wrong so often. Remember when they used to call a game rendered at higher res up-scaled(thankfully they stopped once up-scaling techniques became a hot topic)?
Its not native its checkboard upscaling
@FoxyGotGame "not enough data to be 4k.." Please, just stop. Stop right there. We're not talking about a film where each frame is stored as an image and then played back. We're talking about 3D graphics' rasterized output. It takes 0 more HDD space to change the resolution from 1p to 2000000000p in a game. Don't believe me? Fire up your PC. Observe your HDD space for a game, change the resolution, then observe again your HDD space. It didn't change! Magic? I think not.
Not 4k native ! It's checkerboard. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
what about textures and HDR?
As far as I know, no HDR :(
Bigpappy replied to a personal message I send him, telling me to fuck my mother and sisters. But not my dad. Why? You have a crush on him?
@Brett LMFAO 😅😂😁
@Brett Sounds about right for him.
@BrettAwesome Report him to the mods, he should be banned for that.
it doesnt need better textures, you wouldnt even notice a difference.
Update: CDPR is using checkboard rendering to achieve 4K. I’ve heard their technique is similar to the one used in Gravity Rush 2.
Gravity rush uses native 4k geometry with lower texture resolution. This here certainly improves texture resolution as well.
No way this game is native 4k. Do appreciate the love though. I platted it and almost platted twice but for a glitch. But deleted to make room. Really wanna see this on my 4k tv though.
Time for a reinstall ☺
Awesome. Started a second playthrough a couple of days ago just waiting for this. Glad it came sooner than later. CDPR still delivering for the consumer, unlike the majority of pub/devs in the industry.
Yeah, I'm finally going to start a second playthtough thanks to this new patch.
So this is getting approved even though it's a duplicate story. Amazing collaboration you have there Eurogamer and God is a Geek. Approving each other's posts and ignoring reports. You really are contributing to this community arent' you?
Wth. This is the original story from EG. Why shouldn't it get approved.
And how is it different from this one http://wccftech.com/the-wit... that was submitted before the cancerous EG "news"?
Oh, so you are one of them. No reply, only downvotes... Figures...
GO. Are you on a personal vendetta here? And what about the downvotes on the other submission? Almost feels some people don't want this news to get out. Can't be, because it was just announced enhanced fir that x-tra console, yet comes out earlier on the Pro.
Your last comment makes no sense... I have no idea what you wanted to say. This is no personal vendeta, the story is a duplicate. DS is a clickbait website that gives people cancer. What part do you not understand?
I have a question. Why the competition to get something posted before the other guy and why not allow for multiple same-type stories to be submitted?
Yeah I thought we were okay with dups now. I haven't submitted in years but I thought submission rules were relaxed quite a bit with the news boiler launch? Maybe it was just the Twitter and forum posts I'm thinking of.
