Oh god more Dark Souls comparisons 🙄

It's like people forgot how hard sidescrollering platformers like Contra, Battletoads, Kid Icarus, Shinobi, Mega Man, Castlevania, Ghost N Goblins, Donkey Kong Country, & Metal Slug were back in the day.

Not to mention that Super Meat Boy itself inspired the developers of Cuphead to continue on with their project.

The problem is, for more modern and younger gamers, Dark Souls is the “go to” and best known for its difficulty. It’s not that people forgot, it’s that there’s an entirely different generation we’re dealing with.

Even then there are plenty of contemporary popular tough platformers to compare such as the aforementioned Super Meat Boy along with I Wanna Be the Guy, VVVVV, Shovel Knight, Spelunky, Freedom Planet, Kaizo Mario, Cave Story, Broforce, Rabi-Rabi, & Cloudberry Kingdom that the younger generation would be more familiar with.

Okay, I can appreciate that. Sometimes it's easier to go for the AAA title that is a guarantee to be recognized, but it wouldn't hurt to have mentioned similar indy titles.
