As I said in another post, I'm sure Forza will look, play, and be consistently amazing across all platforms like it generally is. But MS knows better than showing off the PC version of content at their Xbox events. They've been bashed for doing this before, and if I'm not mistaken Forza Motorsport was one of the main ones getting bashed for it back at the XBO launch.

SullysCigar675d ago

We get it, MS: As PCs get better, so do the textures and grass density.

z2g674d ago (Edited 674d ago )

Funny everyone gushed about gran turismo 7 being gorgeous and it’s running on less power than Xbox…

Forza Horizon 5 looks absolutely fantastic on Series X. Looks better than gt7 by a fair amount. If that’s indication about Forza Motorsport then it’s gonna be even better cuz it’s not open world like Horizon. No matter what it’s going to look significantly better on much more powerful hardware. Series x is twice the power of the one X. Your comment feels like solid troll.

SullysCigar674d ago (Edited 674d ago )

^ GT7 is running on a PS5, right? MS show their games on top end PCs that their consoles can't match. Have done for years.

ABizzel1671d ago

@z2g

Well, Digital Foundry confirmed that it was running on PC, as I said, so.....

https://youtu.be/IAScjCswzi...

porkChop674d ago (Edited 674d ago )

Who said it was running on PC?

ABizzel1674d ago

Apparently, it's being said it was running on PC with Series X targeted performance after one of the devs said the trailer was running on Series X, but didn't confirm if the gameplay demo was. But it's looking more like they meant both were running on devkits, and people are running with it because the devkits have more VRAM, even though everything the CPU and GPU are the same as the Series X.

RaidenBlack674d ago

TopGear article states it was running on Series X

https://www.topgear.com/car...

ABizzel1671d ago

To follow up, Digital Foundry also stated it was the PC version as well.

So....Yeah shame on MS.

https://youtu.be/IAScjCswzi...

porkChop671d ago

Interesting. That's a shame. Hopefully the Series X version looks roughly the same. I'd prefer they be a bit more transparent. If it's PC, SX, cutscene, etc., just say that.

"They've been bashed for doing this before, and if I'm not mistaken Forza Motorsport was one of the main ones getting bashed for it back at the XBO launch."

They also did it for Forza Motorsport 7 and we all know how things turn out.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Better luck next time.

ABizzel1674d ago

That's what I meant, I hope it's not true it seems like they meant it was running on devkits still and not PC which is better, considering the devkits are literally the same CPU and GPU as the Series X although allegedly with higher clocks, and confirmed 40GB of VRAM.

And considering it's still more than half a year away that's fine. But we'll see I guess Spring 2023.

ABizzel1671d ago

I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt but it's been confirmed to be running on PC, so yep this is the second time they're done this.

Now all the disagree's and hidden outrage are saying does it matter 😂😂😂

Obscure_Observer671d ago

"Now all the disagree's and hidden outrage are saying does it matter"

Like I said before, they first presented Forza Motorsport running on PC. People were skeptical on how well the Xbox One X would run that game, let alone the One and One S. Turn out that FM7 run amazing across all Xbox platforms.

That´s their latest track record, so I´m not sure what exactly you´re trying to achieve or what point your trying to make.

darkrider674d ago

Much better lighting, but I think the big jump was to f7. The locked 60 frames and they reached 4k. I think maybe when they are able to do 120 frames. That could be the next big jump. Beside the fact that racing games are meant to play inside cockpit not 3rd person. Anyone that races knows this

darthv72674d ago

Someone who never grew up playing pole position or outrun I see...
Its perfectly fine to race in whatever view a person chooses. It's not real life, no matter how detailed the car models, interior or track design may be. Just have fun with it and remember... go fast.

darkrider674d ago

No. Simulators go for inside cockpit. That like all that compete play it. Arcade is 3rd view. Thats why when people talk about the track and trees and people we can know they aren't racers. But casuals that play sometimes.

Orchard674d ago

The new Forza looks miles ahead of any other racing game on console today, including FH5 and GT7.

Simply looks spectacular.

Obscure_Observer674d ago

Simply looks spectacular.

Indeed. The more I look at this game, the more hyped I become.

Man... I believe Fable will be simple out of this world.

RaidenBlack674d ago

ForzaTech for Fable was a really interesting decision. And its commendable that they chose the sprawling ForzaTech over the common UE for their Fable.(the easy route)
But the conversion will take time. The engine's proprietary and was modified only for Horizon series.
Implementing it for an RPG like Fable will take substantial amount of time. Scripting, dialogue tree, inventory system etc.
And this was leaked recently too, that PGgames was having trouble with the development. (the job's not easy)
The situation is quite similar to Bioware's DA Inquisition development. Their first implementation of Frostbite.
They had loads of trouble. They had to write a lot of code/scripts from scratch.
But PGgames has the reputation, they'll eventually pull through. Its just that they initial dev phase will take a bit more time. Once done, the Fable sequel wont be that big of a hurdle. Because the framework will be there.

darkrider674d ago

No it doesnt. You were already warned about that kind of talk. Play games and not corporations. Again the big jump was the last one that went for the first time to 4k and 60frames. This seems cool, but the jump in rez and frames isn't. It got Higher setting. This games isn't running at 8k at 120 frames. And if you play Gt7 on ps5 you would understand that the dualsense make a huge difference in driving. From acceleration to braking, to feeeling the track and curves. Now thats miles away of what the game pad of the Xbox is able to do.

Orchard674d ago (Edited 674d ago )

Warned about saying Forza Motorsport looks better than Forza Horizon 5 & GT7? What? It's not illegal to compare games across one genre, lol.

"Play games and not corporation"
Is Forza not a game?

No one is expecting this game to run at 8k120hz lol, but the graphics look great, and in-race raytracing is huge. Also, the damage & dirt model looks great, as well as the changes in handling caused by temperature etc.

No one is denying that the DualSense adds to games, but it's not make or break. Plenty of great games are on other platforms or even PS5 games that feature minimal DS support.

The visuals here are breathtaking though, and the tracks & environment are so detailed. If you can't see how good this looks, it might be time to visit the optician.

darkrider674d ago

You told that Gt7 look like a ps3 game. Didn't? Maybe was another embassator of Microsoft.

Forza Motorsport 8 is going to look amazing. Especially considering it’s a next gen only game.

darthv72766d ago

7 is such a highly polished game on the One X that to imagine what a Series only version of 8 would be is mind blowing.

fr0sty765d ago

Visually, GT7 is a strange one... Some tracks look jaw-dropping, others look like they came out of GT Sport, low res track textures (that seem to lack any bump mapping, etc. to help add depth) and all. It's like they filled in incomplete areas with GTSport assets.

However, when it comes to weather simulation, physics, control (the dualsense really adds a lot to this one), etc... GT7 is unmatched.

FinalFantasyFanatic765d ago (Edited 765d ago )

There were alot of times there where a thought Forza looked better, but there were a few times there where I vastly prefer GT's look, other time there it was a tossup. Like the crowds, at a distance, GT's look better, close up, I think I prefer Forza's aesthetics, overall, I think I prefer Forza's visuals (although GT's Ray Tracing elements look amazing compared to Forza).

@fr0sty,

I couldn't agree more, GT7 really does look strange, sometimes it looks fantastic, and other times Forza just looks vastly better.

766d ago Replies(10)
z2g766d ago

Agreed. Gt7 has been pretty awesome too so it will be interesting to compare.

Obscure_Observer766d ago

"Especially considering it’s a next gen only game."

Yeah. Hilarious how Xbox that would be held back by the Xbox One, will be the first platform to release a true next gen racing game in contrast with Sony´s GT7 that was promised to be a true next gen PS5 game.

If FM7 is this close to GT7 (superior in some visual and gameplay departments), I can´t even imagine how Sony´s flagship racing game will fair against the next Forza Motorsport.

766d ago
Chris12766d ago

@henryff - Interesting you quote previous Forza scores but handily forget to post the GT scores.

GT Sport - 75
GT6 - 81

Now you look a fool.

766d ago
Chris12765d ago

@HenryFF - a 2 point better score over a 5 year old game that looks almost as good visually.

I guess if you're desperate for a win and you can get over the stupidity of your argument then go for it. Lets hope GT7's actual competitor, FM8, doesn't score better otherwise you'll have to change your user name again to hide the shame.

I mean, they're comparing PC to PS5 here. And FM8 will be on PC as well. What gen are we really talking about here since no generation is being discussed here?

Obscure_Observer765d ago

"What gen are we really talking about here since no generation is being discussed here?"

We´re talking about a ninth generation game vs a eighth generation game. I though that it was clear.

IRetrouk765d ago (Edited 765d ago )

Do pc games have generations🤔
Gt 7 is a cross gen game, its not gen 8 or 9, it's in between.
We are talking about a maxed pc game vs a cross gen game.

frostypants765d ago (Edited 765d ago )

They still have to target the Series S though. "Next gen only" with a caveat. If we're going to acknowledge that having to target lesser hardware holds some stuff back, that scenario is absolutely at play here. Obviously not as much as it could, but to an extent.

dumahim766d ago

Guessing the downvotes are from people not understanding that you can't purchase the game from the stores anymore since it was delisted.

lodossrage766d ago

can't they just buy a used physical copy from gamestop, or best buy?

CML2766d ago

Series S is digital only.

FyBy765d ago

Wow thats a bummer. 8 is not even out. I read its only after 4 years because licences for cars and tracks expired. Really? Thats really strange. Its huge game to have a lifespan only 4 years and without succesor.

darthv72766d ago

before it was removed, I was playing it on gamepass and it was excellent on the SS. It ran as if it was one x enhanced with 60fps and everything. Thankfully I also have it on disc so I can pop it into my SX to keep playing it.

metalgod88766d ago (Edited 766d ago )

Just FYI, the Xbox Series S is digital only. I don't have a disc drive, and the game was delisted as Dumahim said.

It looks awesome, but sadly, I may never get a chance to play it.

MadLad766d ago

Just grab it when the series X is more available.
With the console shortage, the series s won't be dropping in value anytime soon.
Used ones basically sell for new. So you can upgrade for just a couple hundred bucks if you're diligent and look around.

darthv72766d ago

Id say if you really want to play it, get a cheap One X, it looks and plays great on that as you can get the disc version also for cheap. I still use a one X even though I have both Series S and X. My Series S i am going to turn into a portable unit with its own screen attached to take on trips. I love how small that system is and how it compares to the one X in terms of performance (and then some).

Orchard766d ago

Or it shows how dated GT7 really is. The tracks in particular are so lifeless, dated and bare.

Nostalgia is what is delivering the game good reviews.

EvertonFC766d ago

Yet sells 10million plus compared to motorsports 2 million.

Orchard766d ago

I can’t play sales numbers though, can I?

Nor does it make any difference to me since I’m not an investor in either company.

Visuals on the other hand, I experience as a player and are core to my experience.

766d ago
King Nezz766d ago

Every time someone uses sales I just use the Toyota vs Ferrari example. Toyota always will sell more. Both are great. But we know which of the two is better.

Imortus_san766d ago

LOL, sure it does, GT 6 and GT Sport fiasco send regards, after beeing 19.99 in less them 6 months and beeing bundled with every possible PS for more them a year.

RauLeCreuset766d ago

@Orchard

You had no problem playing sales numbers and lecturing about how corporations with shareholders function when you needed an excuse to crap on PSVR2 and excuse make for why the attach rate argument you were trying to use against it didn't apply to Game Pass:

"1. How many units? They just say it sold more than the past models combined, but we don't actually have numbers to work out if that's 10 mil or 100 mil.

"2. How many of those purchases are mainstream gamers? It could be companies or people buying for other VR formats."

"PS4 has a huge install base, but only a small percentage bought a PSVR. I don't see this changing massively with PSVR2."

"Spoken like a true business expert. The idea/business plan for a business/product is to grow its base beyond those who already own the device. Shocker."

"I'm not the only one ignoring it/thinking it is a gimmick, the overwhelming majority of PS4 owners are also ignoring it and considering it a gimmick alongside me."

"PSVR did have a high price - what makes you think PSVR2 will not? As for Kinect (off-topic, bur whatever) costing the same as a video game... what video games were you buying? My 360 kinect set me back $150... and games were cheaper back then than they are today... but you make a good point - Microsoft discontinued the Kinect due to it being a failure - and it still sold 4x PSVR and in less time... but some how I'm meant to believe people are chomping at the bit to get a VR device..."

"@ApocalypseShadow Ignoring your immature comments about being a kid since I am not, nor do I resort to trying to insult during a discussion. I don't expect anything to go 'viral' overnight. But I do expect a device to sell more when its platform has 115m+ units out there. Kinect even outsold PSVR in numbers, with less Xbox 360's being in the wild than PS4's. And Kinect was a failure."

"You're once again comparing hardware to a subscription service. If you want to compare subscription services, then yes, game pass is beating the equivalent/competing service by around 10x."

"If you genuinely think selling a few million units when your TAM is 115+ million, then I'm sorry but you're out of touch with what success is for a business."

"This statement just shows you have no understanding of how corporations with shareholders function... you're probably one of these people who think the big corporations are your friend. Shareholders, and by extension, corporations, directly determine success as revenue, market share & growth. Lower than expected revenue = failure and the product is more likely to be discontinued at some point in the future if the trend continues (see Vita, Kinect, Dreamcast... etc)"

Many of those comments are collapsed, but they're all (and more) below this comment for this link:

https://n4g.com/comments/re...

annoyedgamer765d ago

I dont have either of these games so I dont have a dog in this fight but it must be pointed out that high sales numbers doesn't make a game better. By such a metric, Fortnight is the best game ever made.

"who cares if the driving physics are garbage as long as it's pretty!"

Theres nothing really visually exciting about race tracks in real life. Driving on them is the thrill and GT7 nails it.

BehindTheRows765d ago (Edited 765d ago )

Driving will always be where GT beats Forza. Just so happens that GT7 also looks better than every Forza game released. Yes, Motorsport 7 (on PC, mind you) holds up nicely, but GT7 still tops it visually. Its cars are completely unmatched.

766d ago
Kraffty23765d ago

They've shown comparison shots between real world tracks and the game and many shots are nearly indistinguishable, circuit tracks aren't meant to look like driving through a muddy overgrown swamp. What's delivering the great reviews is the fact its a great racing sim. The King is back.

Father__Merrin765d ago

have you an example of making a track more full of life in a sim game? explosions in background or airplanes doing overheads etc is more suited to arcade game like horizons 5

Knushwood Butt765d ago

GT7 has plent of aircraft, but that's not good enough for some folks.

Knushwood Butt765d ago

I was racing at Daytona yesterday in a race with a transition from dusk to night and thought the circuit looked amazing. Tons of detail everywhere.

Maybe you could elaborate on how it looks lifeless, dated and bare?

bradleejones765d ago

GT7 is completely bad ass. The cafe is a little out of place but besides that the physics are spot on. Car models are awesome. Amount of cars, tracks are awesome. I wouldn't call it dated lol it just came out a week ago and I don't see anything outdated about it besides it's GT so there is progression.and license tests which is the way it should be. Makes sure you know what you're doing and have the equipment and skill to move forward.

ScootaKuH765d ago

Not really. GT7 is a very good game in its own right. Nostalgia has nothing to do with it

Rimeskeem765d ago

Certainly hope the tracks would be lifeless.

Don't wanna hit a deer on my way to victory.

frostypants765d ago

The tracks look like their real life counterparts. Real life doesn't always look like a carnival. The "made up" tracks could be amped up a bit though.

I hate seeing this happen.

It's a game.
Pay a lump sum and go on about your business.

This is why emulation is almost a necessity in this day and age.

MadLad947d ago

Not really.
Just heard Sony is tying the upcoming Gean Turismo to an always online system. Even for singleplayer.

Diablo and Sim City also tried this in the past. If that's the case your only options is them reversing that choice, or 3rd party servers and emulation.

dumahim946d ago

@TheRealTedCruz

That's a fair point. Hopefully before the game is shut down they'll provide an update so it can be played offline.

Amplitude947d ago

Yet another reason why we shouldn't be embracing digital games as the future

MadLad947d ago

You have Sony putting physical releases on an always online system just to play single player.

Companies like Valve have a system in place to back up your entire catalogue, even if their servers shut down.

The issue isn't digital vs physical; it's which companies are actually respecting your past purchases.

HellspawnPR1981947d ago

Wrong, you can always redownload the game and DLC (if you bought them before they get delisted).

DarkZane947d ago

@CrimsonIdol PT is not even a game, it's a demo that you actually never paid for. I am pretty sure you never had any ownership on it, so they could revoke it completely.

Teflon02947d ago

You have Sony putting physical releases on an always online system just to play single player.***

You mean the GAME which hasn't been delisted and has even been re-released under the PS Classics label for both Bluray and PSN, which is £15.99 max??? The same game you can put onto your PS 5 and either move it to SSD, or run it from disk, or better still unplug your PS 4 external drive and plug it into the PS 5... Where it will instantly be added to you PS 5 library, which can be re-downloaded from PSN. Backward compatibilty is only useful if the games are still there. AKA Legacy Software, Once you input the disk in the PS 5, it will give you the option to go ONLINE to update the many Software/game updates awa..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

The game launched with 168 cars and 29 tracks; post-launch game updates have brought the count to 324 cars and 82 track configurations as of December 2019.[2][3][4] The free updates also added a more traditional single-player campaign mode to the game.[5]***

AWA a TRADITIONAL Single Player Campaign mode, plus all the Tracks/ Cars released in the last 4 years.. CLUE: GT 7 has a GT Sport button meaning B/C from WITHIN the game, which is why single player requires ONLINE access.

With GT 6 I had to keep my PS 3 going, even when GT Sport released... Now with GT Sport I can simply use my PS 5 and have the best of both worlds... Oh btw re car licences.. Car manufacturers love having their cars in sims, as exposure means new customers.. The only manufacturer who arrogantly wanted money, was Porsche, so PD gave them the finger and used RUF instead. Porsche announced their partnership with GT Sport
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

at the international Car Motorshow at Frankfurt, where they announced "The Living Legend" awa a Vision car... The Porshe being shown in the GT 7 trailer was the Living Legend... Which means that GT Sport and GT 7 will be supported for long time to come.

***Companies like Valve have a system in place to back up your entire catalogue, even if their servers shut down.***

Valve isn't a charity.. They charge 30% to devs/pubs, which is the same that Sony charges.. Sony however charges that for a SIMULTANEOUS release, on PSN and retail, pressed at their Digital Audio Disk pressing plants across the globe. Epic only charges 15% and has free games, the only reason PC fanboys stick with Steam is because of the legacy software at the Steam store/account.

***The issue isn't digital vs physical; it's which companies are actually respecting your past purchases.***

Rubbish. PC fanboys will be denied the game via Gamepass if it was released there[??] same as newbie Series S/X who are future buyers. Every Forza to date has been delisted apart from Forza Horizon 4... Yet the next out is Horizon 5, not Forza 8.

12 something [= Something is afoot Watson]... When the Brit spinoff is being released before the American ACTUAL game. They are supposed to be doing Fable also.

Forza 7 Oct 2017
GT Sport Oct 2017
Horizon 4 Sept 2018
Horizon 5 Nov 2021
GT 7 March 2022

Looks like someone jumped the gun.. lolol
