Two of the biggest names in the racing game genre are taking their positions on the grid, but who will win?
PC2 all the way for me!! GT Sport is too bare-boned.
But GT Sports have FIA license which it's pretty big deal to be honest. And this isn't like GT5 Demo, this is more like a new beginning of Gran Turismo series. And PC2, I won't judge it.
FIA license is cool, but will cost a lot of money. They go for about $500 per year.
Don't know what FIA is or why it's a big deal but I am very disappointed that we are not getting a traditional GT game this gen when it has become expected since GT first released. I am hopeful they return to tradition when the PS5 releases and we get GT7 and GT8 for that console gen.
@darthv72 I can't say about that. What Kaz want this game to be the new beginning of GT series. Meaning GT Sports is the second generation of GT series.
Sorry Venom, there is no GT7, just a Gran Turismo Sport 2 = https://www.finder.com.au/g...
I agree.. I was a die hard Gt fan but they lost me this year with the decision not to implement a full career mode.
Personally I think GT Sport is just the foundation for things to come. They already stated they will add up to 450-500 cars. What stop them from adding a campaign too ? Nothing tbh. They release the foundation now and can expand that as much or little as they decide to in the future. I think that's why you hear Polyphony's CEO Yamauchi repeating their mantra "I don't think it will be a GT 7..." Ofc not. no need if they just keep building on GT Sport. But first they flirt with the online racing community because that's there the real racing players/fans/companies are and after that it will be easy to add more to the game to lure the casuals in with more "arcady" addons. That's my 2 cents on this :)
Those 400-500 extra cars will cost you more than 2 cents Zeke.
@Fishy I'm prepared !! ;D
@Zeke68 GT makes promise and doesn't keep them. Remember when they said they would patch the sound on GT5 and 6 and never did? I lost faith in them after GT 5 and 6. If it is a foundation then why charge full price? Why not half for lack of content if like you say it is just a foundation? Then release updates as you go and charge for them till you reach $60. Not full price for a game you admit is incomplete with no solid dates for updates. Think about it how long did it take for them just to make this.
@Redlife2g So you weren't "a die hard Gt fan", you were "a die hard Gt career mode fan". There's a crap ton more to GT than it's career mode.
the online racing IS the career mode. It's literally YOUR career. shhhhhh
@itsmebryan "Why not half for lack of content if like you say it is just a foundation? " I don't agree with you about lack of content in GT Sport. I was in Beta and that was lacking but still great value for me. With all arcade modes added, plus VR 1 on 1, plus full online experience and so on I say GT Sport is worth full price for sure. I even preordered the Digital Deluxe edition myself, that's NOT gonna make me a better driver but gives me a few more cars to fool around with ;) It sound like you're disappointed in the way GT has taken and you kind of take it out on me and others that don't care as much as you do. I'm old enough to have "been there - done that" and my advice for you is: forget GT Sport for a while, buy or try another car game and see if you find the fun in another game or genre of games. Who knows, they might add a campaign down the road and what stops you from coming back to GT Sport and join in on the fun? Nothing. And at that point it's probably even cheaper too ;) With all the great games out on PS4 AND all the ones on the way - I'm sure you'll find something great to play. :)
Wait until you play and c'mon GT is around for more than 2 decades let's allow them to try something different...
Ha! He said, "Barebones."
You don't think it's bare bones compared to the other games on the market?
But Kaz wanted to make a deal with FIA and he was happy because of it. It was his dream after all. He was waiting to get that license for so long.
It's at the point that these developers can't program A.I. which ruins the offline experience. I think Polyphony may have something right, even though GT Sport isn't Gran Turismo 7, which is still coming.
PC2 has no soul for me and maybe it's just me but the visuals feel a bit off
This is hilarious. I'm not going to knock their game. But the difference in the two is that someone or some ones can become REAL race car drivers. Not professional video game racers. Real racing can bring in big endorsements and real sponsorships. **we are pushing initiatives within the automotive and motorsports industries to try and get sponsorships and, secondly, prize money.** Sound pretty weak trying. Someone with real skill and can translate that to real world vehicles will have a chance to drive professionally. Don't think they're just looking at GT as a game. There will be companies and manufactures looking for test drivers and race drivers. GT already has connections with car companies. And now has connections with the FIA. Belittling the significance of that level is funny. **they are all using Project Cars to practice** Lol! Another hilarious statement from them with no proof to back it up. Let's fix their statement... "E Sport Gamers entering Project Cars tournaments practice with Project Cars." Which is a "duh" captain obvious statement.
Genuinely curious how many people so far have become professional racers off the back of playing GT?
Can't remember the total but there's at least 3 who are not only real life race winners but championship winners.
@Fluke_Skywalker Now GT Sports have FIA license. Thing going to be interesting.
@Fluke, me too the beta was great. The 'career' mode is actually how you get the license. Its a series of disciplines where if you complete it you get the license. Its not like the usual gt.
Professional drivers actually use GT as a tool to better themselves and prepare for upcoming races.
I sent you a PM nacho to answer your question.
Jann Mardenborough did OK at Sugo last weekend in Super Formula.
Just think, a 12 year old can play this game and become a professional race car driver and they wouldn't even know because so many lie about their age when creating online accounts. Talk about being a wrold class driver! Polyphony should be embarassed at their output at this point. They keep saying generation after generation that it won't take so long to make their next game. Heck even GT7 was supposed to come out years ago and now they offer this. A bare bones GT game with no real career mode and a one on one VR experience. What this team has been able to do in just two years time is amazing and when playing in VR it simply blows the competition away.
GT Sports is the foundation. The new beginning of GT series. This isn't like GT 5 Prologue. You know that, right ? They will post launch content. From what I heard, The DLC in GT Sport will build from ground up.
@UCForce "GT Sports is the foundation. The new beginning of GT series. This isn't like GT 5 Prologue. You know that, right ? They will post launch content. From what I heard, The DLC in GT Sport will build from ground up." Meaning what exactly, that because its a new start they are free from criticism from releasing a game with less cars and less tracks than what others in this field are bringing in way less development time? Is the DLC going to add more A.I. opponents to PSVR or online racing to PSVR? It's not like Polyphony Digital are indie developers with a handful of people. What you guys keep failing to address is how many other games are out there that also do realistic racing even better but because you guys don't play on the PC it somehow goes unnoticed. GT Sport looks visually impressive, great color and excellent lighting but they seem to care more about photo mode than releasing a full product on time. Plus DLC should never be used to give gamers a full game. It should be used to help extend its lifetime and add bonus content.
To be fair most assets from pc2 have been brought over from pc1. Gts is built from the ground up and aims to be future proof. And this is there first game on new hardware. Also, i wouldnt really say that AC,pc1 or pc2 have a real campaigne mode, atleast in the way classic gt did it. I find it interesting that some of the same ppl that defendend the car count on AC and pc1 are complaining about gts's numbers which has a higher count. Alot of double standards. Im glad theyre serious about online mode. I love the physics in AC but when i try to race online, NOBODY actually will race, they just set practice mode to infinity and screw around. Im disappointed a little as well with gts, but im gonna give it a chance and develope my opinions afterward.
Do you really think I'm not aware of this ? I do, but here the thing, this is Kaz wanted and it was his dream after all. He waited this for so long to get this. Sony could ask him to make GT 7, but instead Sony listened Kaz and allow him to made a deal with FIA. Right or wrong, this was his choice and he was freaking happy because of it. I won't blame him on that.
Having been in the beta I can assure you it is far more than you think. I don't know about how deep the career mode will be but I probably won't be touching it anyway. Once you start racing online against quality opposition the thought of racing for nothing against AI opponents doesn't make any sense. Online racing, when it's well matched, is amazing.
@eyeDEVOUR "To be fair most assets from pc2 have been brought over from pc1. Gts is built from the ground up and aims to be future proof. And this is there first game on new hardware" Their last game took 3 years to make and used old assets as well. GT5 also used old assets and it too took a 5 years in development. @VenomSnakeRisingX "Perfection takes a long time. They don't rush out yearly games like some." Their last game got a 81 on Metacritic, that's a far cry from perfection. @Fluke_Skywalker "Having been in the beta I can assure you it is far more than you think. I don't know about how deep the career mode will be but I probably won't be touching it anyway. Once you start racing online against quality opposition the thought of racing for nothing against AI opponents doesn't make any sense. Online racing, when it's well matched, is amazing." The online will always live and die by its users on any game. Not one game is immune to terrible opponents. Another caveat is GT5 shut down its servers after 3 and a half years after release. GT Sport is largely now based on online play but at least with the old games there was a lot of content to play offline.
You always put down on PS so much. You made a poor statement.
@UCForce "You always put down on PS so much." No I don't, Horizon looks great and GT Sport looks great visually. The irony is many of you guys seems to not have a problem with others who constantly put down other platforms. "You made a poor statement." Such as what? Everything I said is true.
I actually like PC2, but having watched the developer sessions on twitch and seen some interviews with them, they come across as a shower of douchebags. Kinda puts you off the game a bit when you think the developers are knob ends. Anyway until they fix their own game on PC they can keep their mouth shut about other people's games.
Just read the headline huh...? They don’t say anything negative towards GT, they don’t even mention it.
Then this article never should have been approved.
No I didn't read the article, and like eyeDEVOUR said, why was the post even approved if the title is clearly click bait. I still stand by what I said though.
He says that focusing on getting a real license was the wrong call. Since that is the entire focus of GTSport, that seems like a big negative to me.
SMS always take shots at the competition. They used to talk shit on Forza, GT, Assetto Corsa etc. after Pcars 1 released, they're very arrogant and don't take criticism well.
Taking a swipe might be a bit OTT, PC has been on the esport scene for years, no reason they can’t obtain the same recognition/licensing accreditation’s any other racing sim has.
They are working with ESL not the FIA. That will stop them faster than a brick wall stopping a Puris
They didnt have money to build their own game. They had to use crowd funding. Yet they have the ability to get licensing and real accreditations from the big players in the motorsport scene? Haha give me a break. I havent played the second PC but after i bought the first and it was just a subpar experience vs other titles so i have little interest in the game.
This is all irrelevant. Haven't you heard? Hugh Heffner is dead. DEAD!
What? He lived a good life and gave his millions to his kids. Anyway, article/title is blown out of proportion.
I loved carrier in GT5 but what really impressed me so much were online tournaments. So Im really excited for gt sport. With much better matchmaking and driving school. I cant wait!
these guys need to chill... smh
They have esports?
SMS should concentrate on there own game PC2, it's a mess just like the first one.
This title is completely off base. Hell, PC2 themselves are involved in esports lol
So Forza 7 is coming out and the discussion here is on GT and PC2? Are they try to remain relevant by talking amongst themselves?
"With the latest generation of young racing drivers, they are all using Project Cars to practise." LMAO, bruh really thought that's what we are going with? ahahah GT hasn't came out this generation, and alot of them use PC Simulators NOT Project Cars ahahaha, And how are you going to say oh we are workign with the top of the top, GT IS WORKING WITH FIA that is the difference between working with the mayor and the president of the nation LMAO im done with these guys, their AI is soooo trash on here, mofos have 0 personality on the track and get the same exact lap times per difficulty.
