The Mummy Demastered Looks Better Than Its Source Material

The 2017 version of The Mummy may have bombed, but its video game, The Mummy Demastered, looks to be an extremely promising Metroidvania game.

The movie is watchable up until about half way through when the mummy lady starts walking through a city and bringing down whole city blocks.

It was just like " ok yea I can't do this"...and I got up and left.

Was not one of my better life choices.....going to see that movie that is.

This game looks pretty good though.

It's a dumb movie with some good cgi effects but the real reason to watch the film is the gorgeous Sofia Boutella.

I'm finding the name Demastered a bit strange, makes it sound crap. What does it mean if anything?

It's a play on remastered, a term we associate with games that have been re-released with better graphics and audio. This demastered game isn't based on anything but uses 16-bit graphics instead of, say, Unreal 4, hence the term demastered.

I may be wrong here, but the first "demastered" game ever was the pixelated, 8-bit remake of Lucious called Lucious Demake. I kinda want to see more demakes and demasters now.

The only reason i watched the mummy was for the cgi, i knew the movie would be a a bit crap from the outset. This game meanwhile looks like it could be decent.

It looks really good actually. After seeing Cupheads newest trailers I was disappointed but this game makes up for it

Yes the movie sucked but like many licensed games from the 8-16 bit era it doesn't have to follow the narrative of the movie they are based off of. Another game with a similar style was Axiom Verge which i enjoyed quite extensively (minus the ending)...I will most likely pick this game up if it's anything similar or better.

I have to say i do like the pixel style look of the game. I hope the game ends up being better then the movie
