i agree ..the remake (as it is handled mainly by Blupoint and not by Japan) does poor job to present the imposing size and vastness of the various Colossus areas....also their tendecy wiht resolution to show every bit of detail sometimes undermines the final result (look the rocks in the background or the bridge) ...sometimes less detail is better in order to show -size, loneliness remotness, outlandish atmosphere and generally be more immersive/psychology-touching for the player

I mean I kinda get what he feels too. Cramming tons of detail in the tiniest things around you take your attention off the massive environment and scope of the game

Eidolon2804d ago

I understand what you mean, but don't get any of that from these three shots..

Movefasta19932804d ago

Ignore the comments this is n4g ,the real PlayStation fans that actually played the original can tell that the original art team were superior, blue point just went for better eye candy

Born2Game832804d ago

Less detail is better??? what?????? that's only because the PS2 wasn't capable of it. If the they had a much more powerful machine at the time. It would have much more detail in the world. But then if the reverse happened, you would say some shit like where are all the details that made the game great right??

Cryptcuzz2803d ago

I get what you are saying, but IMHO, more details and clarity is better than artificial blurring or excessive fog to work around hardware limitations during the PS2 days. The original is a work of art and did wonders given the hardware they had to work with during that time, but it is my belief that had the original developer work on this remake, you would see similar results shown here.

Man I can't wait for this, that game was so awesome, and for some reason I never got to the end, the Remaster is a Day-One buy for me, finally will finish it this time... Can't Wait

Crazyglues2804d ago

Yes, yes... it's IGN that got me saying Remastered.. it's right there in the description - https://www.youtube.com/wat...

GamesMaster19822804d ago

Yeah me too played it a few times on PS2 and PS3 and still have never got to the end. Well this time ill get this remake and finish it.

Awesome remake yet again by Bluepoint. I can't wait to play this game. I hope they enhance the controls somewhat too!

luis_spartano2804d ago

Don't underestimate Bluepoint Games. They have proven to be the Naughty Dog and Rockstar Games of remasters and remakes.

Eidolon2804d ago (Edited 2804d ago )

Dude, they're awesome! While they don't have a true IP of their own, they definitely have proven themselves extremely competent and dedicated. I will trust that any work from Bluepoint is well done and thought out.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_9217d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil17d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Wayyy to many games to list but the first 3 that popped in my head.
1.Okami
2.ESPN NFL 2K5
3.GTA San Andreas

DarXyde177d ago

Good list, but I would replace Onimusha with a Onimusha 2.

Amplitude177d ago

Amplitude still holds up brilliantly

Agent75177d ago

I'd say Onimisha 2 and Turismo 4 was better. Maximo, Auto Modellista, Shox, Wipeout Fusion and pulse, Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution to name a few.

piroh183d ago

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic183d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23183d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1183d ago (Edited 183d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger173d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
