The next big iteration in Polyphony Digital’s famed racing simulation is launching with 138 cars in its garage.
Piss weak really when compared to previous games and its rivals. This game could go down as one of the biggest bombs ever.
Either that or your post. Gamers have some responsibility with that. They complained about premium cars compared to standard cars and the result is Polyphony went and built all cars premium which takes longer to make for current gen. I think project cars 2 even has a short list of 182. Same as their complaints about PS3 being expensive so Sony took out hardware losing direct BC and now we PlayStation gamers don't have BC or even the cell processor this gen. Complaints are fine. But gamers need to deal with the consequences resulting from their complaints. PS4 is overall better than PS3. But there were side effects.
@Apocalypse Shadow "Gamers have some responsibility with that. They complained about premium cars compared to standard cars and the result is Polyphony went and built all cars premium which takes longer to make for current gen. I think project cars 2 even has a short list of 182." You don't strip away things because people complained about a lack of effort before. What you also don't do is show how one game has a few more cars but leave out the finer details to overshadow how poorly Polyphony Digital is at time management either. How many years has it been since the last Gran Turismo (4 years) and why does it have even fewer tracks than the competition and the career mode basically now a tutorial? Project Cars 2 might not have a lot more cars but it certainly has a lot more content. Why is it so hard for you to critique anything to do with Sony and its game studios, yet so easy when it comes to the competition? That's really the only question people should be asking. And before you try and do your best to shove this back at me and Microsoft I can list tons of things they do wrong. For example I tried Forza 7, it feels like the cars have no weight to them. It may look pretty but something about the way it handles doesn't feel right.
Polyphony is milking Sony for MILLIONS. They are the slowest of slow at development. Why does it take them this long to ship a product? This will be the first PS4 title they ship (and from what they have advised it is not even a full GT title). In the same time period Turn 10 has RELEASED what 4 titles now? I am not sure how anyone in the executive suite can justify what they are paying this studio for what amounts to almost nothing this far into the generation. They are paying them millions every year. Do the math. Meanwhile Kaz is off in some exotic location racing. Collision - barely Engine sounds - better, but still not as good as competition Online racing - TBD Courses - Great, but very limited (I KNOW we will see DLC for more) I think it is time for a sit down with the studio heads.
Seriously? The response to those complaints shouldn't be to not try hard to correct those deficiencies. We shouldn't have to "deal" with those types of responses. So voicing our complaints about the rehashed models last gen means that a lack of content this gen is our fault? Sometimes criticism is warranted. When the response to that criticism is sub par, more criticism should follow. Don't just shrug and say: "Well, you shouldn't have complained."
Hey moldy , All cars are premium. I don't think that is striping anything away and I am sure the list will grow with updates. But we all know that there could be 300 premium cars and you would find away to down play it or knock it because it's a ps4 exclusive.
@JackBNimble "Hey moldy , All cars are premium. I don't think that is striping anything away and I am sure the list will grow with updates." The competition has more content in less development time, you seem to be unable to grasp that. It is a common theme from Polyphony Digital to make false promises each generation that it shouldn't take too long for the next game. But hey, it sells a lot so who craes, right? "But we all know that there could be 300 premium cars and you would find away to down play it or knock it because it's a ps4 exclusive." Like ShottyatLaw said, they should not dramatically cut content because people complained or took notice of them using old car models to pad the content and then have its fanboys argue well you shouldn't have been critical about it then.
Quality over quantity. Let’s be real - you’re gonna stick to about 4 cars out of the 138. Let’s also be more real, you prob don’t even own an Xbox and are more of a grand turismo kind of fella anyways hence a troll post. Yay!
" there is no Gran Turismo 7 planned" Yea sure, just like there is no NBA 2K20 planned
It was supposed to come as early as 2014 which just goes to show how unreliable Polyphony Digital has become with its target dates. https://www.topgear.com/car...
well at least sony is trusting them and doesnt cancel it like other companies have had done to them in the past for not being able to ship a product in "x" amount of time
@Goldby "well at least sony is trusting them and doesnt cancel it like other companies have had done to them in the past for not being able to ship a product in "x" amount of time" No, Sony never cancels games or studios. Instead they give you remakes like Wipeout. Goldby if you want to keep going off-topic we will just because you can't stand Sony or its developers to ever be held accountable. So you do what so many here do, you get defensive and want to put down Microsoft because we all know some Sony fans can't seem to get along with Xbox fans.
@moldy you really need a new hobby, i really dont see how you can not be banned fully from this site with the crap you do
@The_Jackel "you really need a new hobby, i really dont see how you can not be banned fully from this site with the crap you do" For speaking the truth? Polyphpony Digital has been talking about GT7 for years and now you want to go after me instead of the user I responded to who wants to attack the competion like so many others before him who don't like Sony or its developerts being accountable. So instead of noting that he wants to jump on Microsoft and cancelling games. Until you get your own fans in place who go on the attack and do far worse in threads about the competition don't ever expect anyone else to.
A moldy im pointing out the difference between Sony and Ms. and in this case, sony is in a better light. both companies have canceled games, shut down studios and such, the main differnence though is that Sony can actually afford to do that, becuase of the countless other studios under them. let me know when Ms has a game in developement for 10+ years like Last guardian and it isn't shut down by Ms. Let me know when Forza Motorsport takes 5+ years to develop the game and isnt shut down, after all it is justa tracing game. Kaz in out doing actual circuit racing, not just for fun, but to make sure the feeling in the game is exactly like it is real life. im not going off topic btw. you stated they are unreliable, i countered by saying well they havent been cancelled yet. you need to get out of the pen. curious why you had to bring up how unreliable PD is when all that was stated was no GT7 planned at this time. unless.... no it cant be the case. concern trolling maybe....
Unless they plan on a Mazda Rx7 release in dlc i wont be buying it.
Apparently they have a pretty aggressive DLC plan to start soon after release. I’m sure they add most wanted/requested cars, for a nice low low fee of course. Racing games are perfect nickel and dime territory for producers, they all do it.
If this does come to pass (and I have a sinking suspicion it will) they can F#4k right off. Polyphony looks to be a faint image of what they once were. Kaz is more interested in motor shows, and racing than actually producing the product that elevated him to where he is. The passion is LONG gone. Others have stepped up big time. It is sad really, and I LOVED GT. I will give this one a go, but everything after GT 3 was simply filler and was not all that great. Deep down as a fan you all agree. Queue the audio effect of a car hitting a wall at 150MPH - THUD. That is how I feel.
for a nice low low fee of course. wtfff is this,do you work for them or something?
I’m being ironic. Paid DLC if you prefer.
It's a modern day online racing game. This isn't your forza car collection game. Rx7s are cool for sure, but this isn't going to be the game for it. Not until they can drop at least 10 other cars in that same class and era
So explain why theirs a Miata..Move along
@eyeDEVOUR because the Miata has always been an extremely popular track car platform to build upon. Besides the fact it too is also from 2014, hence modern. Move along
Taking into account the long period of time since the last GT release, 138 cars.. hypothetical cars at that, an unimpressive amount of tracks, and NO weather effects, this is really a niche racing simulation. Project Cars 2 simply trumps this game on car numbers, locations, tracks, weather, and more. I guess sales will count in the end, but it could get messy with reviews comparing the two. Value for money counts, and I can see GT Sport being heavily discounted this Xmas.
They have said openly it will eventually have over 500 cars post launch thru dlc. Also this game i found out requires internet to access all cars and tracks....hope they patch that as well cuz i want to play the offline arcade mode as well and as of right now they have said that only certain cars and tracks can be accessed in arcade mode unless an internet connection is detected. I LOVE GT ALWAYS HAVE ALWAYS WILL but I hope they patch the hell out of this post launch if we are vocal enough to ask for certain things and I am sure they will. Give me A spec and B spec mode later also if possible but more than anything a patch to access/unlock ALL CARS AND TRACKS offline for arcade mode as well as patch a single player campaign later possibly. Either way I have the Limited Edition preordered at Gamestop and cant wait to get it.
If it in fact does require an always on connection, I am not buying it. I still play GT5 here and there, and all online infrastructure and features are gone..BUT you can still play the core game. If that is not the case here, there is no longevity, and it may as well be a subscription model (which I would never support).
So 700 cars on f7 or 138 cars on sport.. and no plans for gt7? It’s been real gran tursimo. Thanks for your service.
it's not about the total car count, that only mattered back when gt5 and 6 came out.
exactly, its about the actual racing, not collecting cars. pitting player vs player. pun intended
I have seen this kind of excuse when xbots were defending car count of forza5. Car count of GT Sports is far less than that.
Why the complaints. GTS is exactly the game that polyphony announced. It's not a follow up GT game rather a online based competitive racer. Don't like the sound of it don't buy
Given PD's attention to detail, that's fine with me. Now, please announce the Porsche 917L hippie car.
All in all I think it’s awesome to have a Grand turismo sport racing game on PS it’s about time to get a good one. Yeah the roster may not be as big as forza which is absolutely amazing racing game. With some competition it can be good for both consoles.
No McLaren F1!!! That's a real bummer for me.
I'll wait to see if this is the "complete" list. "If you've landed on the wrong racing sim, you need to check out Forza Motorsport 7 on Xbox One X." Having that at the bottom destroyed all credibility of it being legit
The number of cars is wrong, its at 150+, confirmed on the official gt site weeks ago.
