There were Waves for the Scorpio the First Wave Sold it in the first 5 days, then there were small waves only some people caught hint off due to the notion it was sold out and given up searching for one.Overall Scorpio made it to the top 100 lists on Amazon for a majority of different territories so it performed very well.

Don't get why they didn't open the pre-orders for the standard edition at the same time as the Scorpio.

Easy, the Scorpio edition is a much smaller run 250,000 to a million run. So they release that, build hype, it sells out, demand looks much higher, than say releasing both at the same time and it not "selling out". Really simple marketing move.
