The FFVII Remake will be released episodically like the .hack series

drizzom2853d ago

Yeah, but this time around, Recode will be released all-in-one.

FallenAngel19842853d ago

After years of the other games being available can you get a package featuring the full experience

drizzom2853d ago

The .hack series to me is cross media done right (unlike FFXV). The games are well self contained and give a full experience without feeling like something was left out. The animes and the terminal disc don't have info that should be in the game, they have info that enhances the full package that core game already offers. FFXV has it the other way around where the game is hollow and you NEED the other content to know whats going on in the story. It makes the game feel empty and it shows.

Are you really comparing an entire series to one installment in a franchise?

drizzom2853d ago (Edited 2853d ago )

Yes. What I am comparing is the method in which they chose to do cross media. 'Quantity', however, is not a factor. Only how they chose to execute it.

FallenAngel19842853d ago

Wouldn't it be more accurate to compare how the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole has handled being a cross media installment just like .hack rather than to single out how one installment handles it?

drizzom2852d ago

@FallenAngel1984
I could but I imagine it would still apply. Besides FFXV, I cant think of many other FF games that attempted cross media the way FFXV and GU did. I suppose I could instead compare just GU with XV. But again, I feel GU just does it better just looking at the Roots anime and the terminal discs and not the entire series.

Looks cool. I've never tried this series. Any good?

Why the .Hack Gaming Series Needs a Remake

.hack (Dot Hack) is a gaming series that started when technology was still evolving and growing. These games showed us some of the horrors but also the best parts of online gaming. But these games are decades old, and perhaps it's time for a remake, a remaster, or even a game in the series.

the OG games, yes they do.

but.. they are very niche to begin with.
bk then, i only knew one person who played the games, beside me.

franwex689d ago

I downloaded the whole series in a sale, but have yet to play them.

gold_drake689d ago

yea they are a commitment haha.

especially the G.U series.

Goosejuice689d ago

U would think they would have made an actual mmo out of this game

gold_drake689d ago

i think they had a mmo of it, in japan only. could be wrong tho.

Pyrofire95688d ago

I think you're right. But I could be wrong too.

Quetzll688d ago

You guys might be right. I could be wrong, but you guys definitely might be on to something here. Who knows??? Pretty sure i heard something about that years back, but i could be wrong.

Knightofelemia689d ago (Edited 689d ago )

The Xenosaga trilogy also needs a remake or at least a remaster. I never got into .hack when they came out on the PS2 I would try them out. A remake or a remaster would be great I am not paying an arm and a leg for the original games.

I've been wanting a new entry to this series for so long.

What Modern Anime Tie-in Games Can Learn From a Forgotten PlayStation 2 Series

Anime tie-in games are nothing new, but they often fall short of fan expectations. The .hack games did it right, and developers could learn from them.

I really want a new entry to the .Hack series

Played the hell out of the original games back in the day, but never got to the GU series.
Was really hoping this was a big compilation of the games, but oh well lol.

VersusDMC1098d ago

.hack GU last recode includes all 3 parts plus a 4th new one. Usually on sale under 20(Ps4) but never bought it.

MadLad1098d ago

Might finally take the dive next sale.
