20 of the Best RPGs on PS4 (So Far)

The PS4 is home to numerous excellent RPGs, making it difficult for RPG enthusiasts to decide which game to pick up and dive into for a few months.

Is it really RPG? How much RPG is there? I am on the edge if I should buy it, it looks great, I love Disney movies and platformers but I don't play rpg anymore (especially open world). Some rpg elements like in Rise of the TR, H:ZD or AC are all I can stand nowadays.

It's a action rpg the gameplay is somewhat similar to the Tales franchise, but a lot faster.

This article is pushin' the limits of what qualifies as a "RPG". Deus Ex and Odin Sphere are on that list -- those are good games, but calling them RPGs, rather than action games with a RPG flavoring, is a stretch. You could call GTA a "RPG" by that same standard.

A lot of the games on the list are actual RPGs... but there aren't 20, which is sad.

I definitely think Deus Ex qualifies as an rpg. It's not a traditional rpg, but its leveling and character progression and skill trees is integral to making several scenarios easier because you have the right ability to complete said task in way #1 of 4. Technically, Deus Ex is considered an "immersive sim", but that's not really a genre. If it were to fall under any traditional genre category, Deus Ex is more of an rpg than an action game or a stealth game.

I don't think I Am Setsuna should be that high on the list. It was a cool throwback to the more classic JRPG's (it reminded me a bit of FF3 remake for DS art-style wise) it's story and setting weren't interesting enough for me. Hopefully Lost Sphear is better.

Can't wait for Ni No Kuni 2 to take up a spot on this list!
