Observer Review | Twinfinite

Twinfinite writes "Observer uses an unsettling cyberpunk ambiance to tee up a gripping horror narrative. It had me utterly captivated over the course of six hours, but persistent technical issues disappointingly ruined the experience."

What a shame, looks like a solid game minus the issues.

morganfell2587d ago

It is a solid game. Look at other reviews. Twinfinite is full of it.

madhouse022587d ago

Mmm, did you read the review? The reviewer totally liked it but it broke halfway thru.

morganfell2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

So if the game has an issue on the PC it is automatically the game? No. Spend a day on Steam and look at some of the things people do on their PC and expect to game. And these are person that consider themselves expert home engineers. But they are not. Writing for a game site hardly qualifies you as a game expert, much less a seasoned hand at running a tight gaming rig.

Many of my friends and I have played and discussed this game. We have not had an issue. Then again we are not cutting corners on decent gaming rigs or running certain absurd configurations or rogue software. At some point I put the blame on those persons who wrongly consider themselves to be PC experts. There is a limit to developers having to accommodate the configurations of some PC gamers. "Oh, but I always run software so and so in the background." Well the developers should not have to spend time working around ridiculous configurations when they could be pouring that effort into the game.

Dude, it's a PS4 review. You really should read articles before whinging in the comments.

mattgatchy2587d ago

It clearly states Observer PS4 review in the article. Slightly going off topic, I kinda appreciate Metacritic and OpenCritic's difference in aggregating review scores. For issues like this, at least Metacritic separates game reviews for different platforms.

morganfell2587d ago

I can admit when I am wrong. I am not so ego driven I cannot do that. You are quite right, it is a PS4 review and I should have noticed the tag.

That said, given their history, I have no desire to provide sites like twinfinite, even a single click.

Such a shame when technical issues get in the way of a well crafted vision/narrative.

biblesosus2587d ago

That sounds super frustrating. I didn't have any issues on PC aside from a few freezes, but that's awful!

Yukes2587d ago

That's a real shame. So hard to review a game when it's otherwise excellent, but suffers from a game-breaking bug. Good to know, though. I'll avoid until fixed.

I'd add a couple of honorable mentions. Cursed Mountain on the Wii and Cold Fear on PS2/Xbox.

FTLmaster1281d ago

Not played Cursed Mountain but I enjoyed Cold Fear. It almost felt a bit Dead Space-ey.

Magog1281d ago

Why would you play games from other series to celebrate the anniversary of Resident Evil? WTF.

SDuck1281d ago

Because Resident Evil is an iconic piece of video game history that inspired many horror games

whitbyfox1281d ago

Why would non-horror fans want to play a horror game? Crap title, some good games though.

SDuck1281d ago

Tbf, some of those aren't even horror games. They're just action games with some horror on them. I'm not a horror game player and I played TLoU and Bioshock which are on that list

RaidenBlack1281d ago

Half life 2's Ravenholm level alone has more horror than the whole of Bioshock.

The new Deus Ex games were so good. Hate that they shelved the series for the time being.

Shadowrun series and Remember Me are both great recommendations too.
