Looking back at fiscal 2017, Twinfinite compares the financial earnings of the video game industry's highest earning publishers. Here is where Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo fit into the picture.
Very interesting and well researched article - good read.
...spread out across ten pages.
...for more ad impressions and more revenue
Annoying but it only took me 20 seconds to skip through... not really the end of the world. These guys have to eat, lol... People are so entitled to think they should get everything for free smh.
Would have been better if they could've used the numbers of the actual publishing divisions of some of them, it's a bit weird like this....
Man, the mobile market is totally dominated by a few monster companies making an absolute ton of cash. The top 10 apps are all by the same 3 or 4 publishers... it's a crazy monopoly. I feel sorry for any devs trying to crack that market.
That's a lot of money!
Would of been more interesting to see what they earned/ranked from actual game publishing. Obviously the company’s with multiple successful divisions will be at the top, namely, MS.
Well, it does offer some information on how much revenue is earned from gaming. I mean... who cares how they rank really? It's more just about how much they earn and how much muscle they have to flex. The biggest takeaway for me is that Nintendo can't really afford to **** up as much as people think they can. They don't have Microsoft money... they don't even have EA money.
Nintendo has something like 20 billion dollars dude. They are fine. The real question is why Microsoft with their tons of cash can't make any games, nintendo has released 5 first party games so far this year (not counting 3ds which boosts that even further) and has more on the way. Has microsoft released a SINGLE game this year?
Good To see all the game publishers doing good.
This list is ridiculous how much did Sony and Microsoft make JUST off games?
"Sony reported overall revenue at $67 billion, with the gaming division responsible for over $14 billion of that total." "Despite the fact that Microsoft neglects to stipulate exact figures on the Xbox Division’s performance, we know that gaming generated over $3 billion of revenue in a single quarter earlier this year." I can write another list that spells this info out in bold letters at the top of the page if you like, or you could just read.
