Dynasty Warriors 9 looks absolutely amazing

"Dynasty Warriors 9, aside from a few clipping issues, looks breathtaking for what seems to be a very large open world game.

It doesn’t just look great, however, it seems to play great too. What we’re talking about is the completely revamped combat system, the addition of open world and new and returning ways to traverse the land."

Weapon clones are back. Bigger than ever.

flabergaster1232452d ago

To be honest, I really don't care if some characters have similar looking weapons, as long as the movesets aren't the same!

DragonKnight2451d ago

They probably will be though, that's the problem. I mean, Lu Lingqi with Xing Cai's weapon doesn't really create the idea of a differing moveset. Think DW6.

flabergaster1232451d ago

Hmm, I know what you mean, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. I'm really hoping for more footage at either Gamescom or TGS.

KyRo2452d ago

Do these games still play exactly the same as the PS2 games? It was highly pointless back then. Just chuck 100's of enemies on the screen and attack them all over and over and over or has it moved on since then?

Empires, has this conquest mode where you go thru ranks, with a group, conquer different places and the same time losing places, you have keep in mind the food supply and relationships with the other characters, you can marry, become a king (thru different ways, even mutiny) and more. When these games are made i just wait for the empires edition. Now those games are different

DragonKnight2451d ago

You're asking if a hack and slash series still plays like a hack and slash series. If you didn't like it up until now, you won't like it now.

KTF262451d ago

God of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Darksiders ...etc are hack n' slash
unlike Dynasty Warrior the combat in all these games have depth

Warrior games hardly improved since DW2

DragonKnight2451d ago

Dynasty Warriors is a hack 'n slash. It plays exactly like a hack 'n slash. Guess what you do to waves of enemies in a hack 'n slash? Same thing you do in Dynasty Warriors.

"Warrior games hardly improved since DW2"

Spoken like someone who hasn't played any since DW2.

KTF262451d ago

it hack n' slash, I can't deny it
but a bad one compare to the examples I gave in my last comment

KTF262451d ago

Yes
but this one will have larger maps

DafunkyRebel2451d ago

no they changed the weapons system so that you will have to mix and match elements to counter boss elements. If you use an element the bosses are strong to then you have to change weapons or else you'll get rekted

I remember the first time I played Dynasty Warriors. The first game doesn't really count... I'm talking about DW2. Was at my friends house just blown away at all the action taking place on screen.

drunkenspy0072451d ago

Really? Looks like Dynasty Warriors 8, which looked like Dynasty warriors 7, and so on. It's the same game, released year after year, with a little bit more in features to keep it going.

'Looks amazing'....not a single screenshot!?

The Most Disappointing Video Game Sequels - Part Seven

Phil writes, "There's little that hurts a gamer more than hearing that a sequel to one of their favorite games is coming out, it releases, and it turns out to be a dud. It's happened to the best of us. It's like having the rug pulled out from under you when a sequel you've been hyping based off of love for its predecessor does less than satisfy when it finally launches. Sometimes it's due to the formula being changed too much and not for the better. Other times it's because the game is missing what made the original so good.

Whatever the reasons may be, SPC is back with a look at six more disappointing video game sequels that failed to deliver or failed to satisfy for one reason or another."

I just hope they learned their lessons from DW9. The open world feature was personally unnecessary.

I bought dw9 specifically because it was open world
