10 current-gen games everyone needs to go back and play

MWEB GameZone writes: Here are 10 games that everyone should go back and play due the fact that they have brand new DLC and content available to experience

I still need to go back and finish Witcher 3

annoyedgamer2838d ago

Do it, you have no idea what you are missing.

OldGuyStillGaming2838d ago

Same with me
I have the complete edition and still haven't played the expansions or even finished the main story
I'm slacking

mogwaii2838d ago

Seriously lacking.
The main game is great but then you step into toussaint which is like a whole new witcher set in a completely different and amazingly beautiful setting, makes you wished you could live there, go play it!

bloop2838d ago

The expansions are every bit as good, if not better than the main game. I don't have time to game half as much as I did years ago, but I still managed to pump more than 300 hours into TW3 and the expansions. One of the few games in recent years that I went out of my way to actually make time to play it.

Bronxs152838d ago

Witcher 3 or horizon, which do you think is better?

ghaleon19802838d ago

Both are some of the best games of this generation. They are different in a lot of ways and I don't know if I could say either is better than the other. Play them both man!

Sam Fisher2838d ago

Horizon, dont get me wrong witcher is fucking amazing, but for me horizon took me away from the real world

HeyNowChillax2838d ago (Edited 2838d ago )

I love Witcher 3 for the graphics, atmosphere, lore, complex crafting and exploration. Horizon is just amazing but wish the crafting and mods were more in depth but I can forgive it because the combat system is just epic. Slow mo sliding under robo dino's with a bow & arrow, I mean c'mon that's just f'n cool. I'd have to say for people who prefer complex RPG mechanics, go Witcher 3 while Horizon is more action based and is like RPG light. Own both!

Bronxs152838d ago

Interesting. Good points. I started witches 4 when it cam out never finished. I hd to reduce difficulty. I'm definitely not good with complex RPGs. I'm currently enjoying horizon. Hearing every talk about how how witch is more complex deters me from going back to finish it.

I own witcher on Xbox so maybe the enhanced Scorpio patch might get me back into it. But right now I like Horizon a heck of a lot more

Irishguy952838d ago

Prefer Witcher 3 as its one of my top games ever, Horizon is amazing though. Combat and art for Horizon are better, Witcher is better as an RPG and I simply prefer RPG's.

Nier though...we'll see where it ends up

WelkinCole2838d ago

TW3 but then again I am biased because I am a fan of the books.

It really is the story and characters that really put TW3 above Horizon for me. It is true though the combat in Horizon is better. However this is mainly because I love difficult games. TW3 on death march is not really that challenging.

I have the Platinum in W3. That was like 3 months that I devoted myseff to beat that game 100%. I still have yet to finish the expansions. This is a game you need a lot of free time to enjoy

Malice-Flare2838d ago

as one who 100%-ed the Complete Edition, wait until you have A LOT of free time. things will distract you from continuing the main story...

mark_parch2837d ago

i've allready got 100% on witcher 3 and am going to play through again when i get my xbox one x. The game is amazing

ninsigma2838d ago

Still got the last Witcher 3 DLC to play so definitely be jumping back into that world.

mafiahajeri2838d ago

Couldn't get into the witcher bought it and played and killed that Phoenix think and that was pretty much it :/

AspiringProGenji2838d ago

Once you get to Velen and then teh Swamp it gets better. The firsts hours into the game are slow. Give it another chance

Nacho_Z2837d ago

Yeah I wasn't particularly into it for a while but by the time I'd finished the Baron's quest and met the crones I'd realised what a special game I had.

nitus102838d ago (Edited 2838d ago )

I assume you killed the Griffin in "White Orchard" which is really just a sandbox tutorial.

I do suggest that if you wish to continue playing start the game again but this time on the "Death March" difficulty and vow that you will not baby out by reducing this no matter what you come up against. This way you are basically forced to get better equipment, potions, oils and spells.

Once you clear "White Orchard" (takes about four to eight hours) and have visited the Emperor you will then go to Vellen and it is there the main story starts.

Hint1: Before the audience with the Nilfgaardian Emperor you will be quizzed about events that occurred in "The Witcher 2". Answer that all people that you are questioned about are still alive - you get additional quests.

Hint2. If you see an enemy that is three or more levels higher than you, avoid until you level up or get better equipment. I must also point out that there are enemies that will "one hit kill you" even much later in the game.

Hint3: The Witcher school quests are well worth doing.

Spoiler Hint: The gourmet (white) perk is worth getting as your first and possibly only perk since it allows you to slowly but continually gain health for 20 minutes when you consume any food.

+1 for Dying Light. Bought it on my PS4 a little after it came out. Played the first couple missions, got sidetracked by another game and never went back. I was looking through my digital library the other day and saw it had been deleted off my HD.

I re-downloaded and cannot believe I didn't play it sooner. So much fun.

Irishguy952838d ago

So much fun, specially at night and when you get the spider man tool

PiNkFaIrYbOi2838d ago

No people do not need to play those games. They only need to play these if they want to play them. Only like 3 or 4 of those games are of any interest to me and I will probably play those games at some point.

Dissidia2838d ago

It's just a title, everyone knows they don't NEED to play the games. It's just an article drawing attention to strong current gen games people might have missed or should give another try

SgtSlaughter2122838d ago

Easy, champ. No one needs to play any video game. It's just a title.

Cosmopolitan titles some of their articles, "15 Sex Positions You Need to Try TONIGHT!" We all know that you don't need to try them that same night. You could, but you don't need to (except me, I'm a goddam sexual Tyrannosaurus).

This is a great month for me, I have almost bought Wild Hearts a ton of times and same for Cult of the Lamb.

Some really good variety here, and some serious playtime on offer here with all the RPG's. Good luck finishing all these games in a month heh.

Time Splitters is fantastic on the classic side, and glad to see they keep supporting PSVR2 with games

TheEroica270d ago (Edited 270d ago )

Really grateful I had the good sense to drop pay to play multi-player. It's a rip off.

Einhander1972270d ago

At least when you buy the basic PS+ tier you actually get new games often including AAA games.

This month PS+ got the Star Wars Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy's:: Security Breach, and Ender Lilies

Xbox hasn't gotten any new games for their basic tier since July and before that it was in August 2023. And if that wasn't bad enough the games they got were just recycled from game pass.

TheEroica269d ago

14 people downvoted and enjoy paying for something millions of pc gamers get for free. Lol.

seanpitt23270d ago (Edited 270d ago )

They could have included the dlc for the Witcher 3 game of the year addition geez..

How many times do they want to keep putting WD2 on

Einhander1972270d ago

PS+ 17 games this month unlike game pass which only offered 7 almost half of them I got years ago on PS+,.and the rest are indies from companies I haven't even heard of.

And the Sony Pictures movie collection will probably get updated with new movies and shows from Crunchy Roll too.

Not bad for a subscription that costs significantly less game pass even before they raised the prices.

crazyCoconuts270d ago

Still not as good as it was a year ago. I think they're walking back on the quality of games just like XBGP is. It's a good thing though...ppl gotta start buying games again.

darthv72270d ago

For me, the redeeming titles are the Time Splitters ones. Sadly i do not subscribe to premium, only extra.

VersusDMC270d ago

Well you can still buy them. PS2 titles range from 5 (the clone wars) to 20 (tomb raider legend). So it may be a good price.

Becuzisaid270d ago

I'd bet these are in the expensive side. People have been wanting some kind of timesplitters remaster for a long time now.

pwnmaster3000270d ago

I thought it was a pretty good month, then I saw time splitter. It made it so much better. I always wanted to play this game but never did

Deeeeznuuuts270d ago

Not the best month for me other than timesplitters!! Can't wait to replay them again, be nice if they have trophies too but no danger of they don't, can't wait!
