Following the press conference, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime was beset by eager reporters who wished to get their questions answered, and as one might expect, one of those questions regarded where Nintendo is in regards to traditional games like The Legend of Zelda.

Wii got some great exclusives coming before Christmas too. Little King's Story, ToS2, and just recently de Blob and Wario Land were released. And 2009 is looking to be awesome. Muramasa, Kizuna, S&P2, The Conduit, Mad World, Punchout, amount many, many more. I lost faith in the Wii and Nintendo after E3, but I definitely gained it back, and then some.

been mentioned here, but isn't 2 years time enough already. A lack of AAA games being released for every console since the SNES is what has kept Nintendo from pre N64 greatness. You'd think they'd be a little more proactive in getting good games out there, and more of them. But to me at least, Punch Out is a step in the right direction.

I dont hate nintendo wii but with most of the games scoring under 7 , waiting for games wont make the cut for me. Atleast with the PS3 we get good games while waiting for the Traditional titles.

Nintendo really needs to put the hot titles soon. I've been waiting for a good Starfox game since N64 and I could use a Pikmin 3 on DS/Wii

So now we hear more complaining. @Whoop you do know Nintendo has the highest ratio of highly rated games and can lay claim to to the highest rated game of all time right? But all that is just to say that when Nintendo makes games they define a genre and influence generations. To call they're games "crap" is quite ridiculous. What alot of people like to forget is that Nintendo doesn't rely on third parties for success, and their first party titles are usually AAA. As oposed to ps360, the bulk of their software lineup is third party (esp 360). What this means is which company outside of Nintendo would be able to survive third parties abandoning ship? Third party games are going multiplatform now and Sony seems cool about it. They aren't worried about it or spending money on them like MS.

Nintendo is drunk off their own sales. Nintendo today is what Sony was in 2005 thinking everyone that owned a PS2 would gladly pay $600+ for the next iteration of the playstation.

Make no mistake, with the Wii's insane sales, Nintendo isn't changing their strategy. They will continue to milk the casual and continue to churn out wiiware with the occasional high quality first party game for the "core."

The only reason the Wii is in first place, is because even grandmas are buying the damn thing. The Wii is like Monopoly, Clue, Twister, Jenga... an entertaining product for casuals, like every other board game.

Sony is not worried, because they are clear with the fact that most third party studios want to maximize profit this gen. They understand that, but the main reason for them to be calmed, is their first and second party support.

PS3 is third and not second because the 360 was released one year before... I'm not sure if you're smart enough to understand that though. Even with one year headstart, the lead is shrinking rapidly.

The Wii??? I'm not really sure if the PS3 could outsell it this generation, seeing as it's more of a toy than a gaming machine....

The PS3 might not be able to outsell the Wii, just like Bentleys, Mercedes or BMW's might never outsell Corollas or Camry's.

It's a very simple analogy and a very good one to give a similar example about how a product can be bought by the mass due to being more accessible and cheap.

All I know is that nintendo sony and microsoft have great games. I only own a Wii and whoop, it is a gaming console whether you like it or not. If I could own all 3 I would be very happy, because they all have their AAA games. Nintendo has Metroid, Zelda, and Mario, all genre defining games. Sony has LBP, Killzone 2, Heavenly Sword, and MGS4. And Microsoft has Halo, Mass Effect, and lots of timed exclusives. They all have their games, and in my opinion gamers are too fickle these days. Nintendo comes out with some great games right away, then everyone forgets them. You have to relise that 99% of the crap games are coming from 3rd parties, not Nintendo. If Nintendo stopped making games forever you know you be said, admit it. Yes they may have strayed off course with the "hardcore", but they still have the hidden gems that all gamers can enjoy. We all need to stop hating on them and just enjoy what they have to offer.

I think nintendo had enough casual games & they know it. they know they are loosing the hardcore but in the same time they are earning more money, especially after N64 & gamecube (which had great hardcore games but didn't sell that great compared to sony)nintendo is still struggling to find the balance, because they made great success with the wii in a little amount of time.

My favorite game from nintendo is the legend of zelda & I don't want another sequel on the wii because no matter how much I like it, it won't be that epic compared to MGS,RE5 or any great game on the other two consoles & I want my zelda to be epic.

I'm a loyal nintendo fan & even though I still like the wii(Metroid 3, twilight princess, galaxy,no more heroes..) but I'll looking forward to their next console & hope it's not another "casual" wii.

The Wii is at heart a "gaming console", because it has interactivity, it has a gaming like controller and because it still plays some whored franchises, BUT the damn toy is targeted at casuals with some terrible entertainment softwares which they dare to call "games".

I used to love Nintendo, like every gamer did when we were kids, but the console never matured and didn't expand in the way MS and Sony has expanded.

Believe what you want, because at the end of the day we will stay true to our opinions, but no one will convince me that the Wii isn't just a casual product dressed as a gaming console.

Hd games may look amazing but from a profit stand point they cost so much to make that if they flop its a huge disaster which means its harder to put out new ip's on the xbox or ps3(unless they hype the crap out of the game which has backfired on some games like Too Human,Haze,etc.)
You have Xbox and Sony backing the games that already have a fan base from the ps2 or original Xbox games like Gears and God of War are getting the red carpet treatment ever if they play exactly the same as the old with a new set of paint.LBP also is gettign the red carpet treatment because of the success of the casual, Sony is hoping to grab alittle of that pie.
honestly though so far this Gen we havent really had any new IP from Ps3/Xbox.People say Resistance is a new IP but i will say that Sony is lucky they didnt release Resistance back on the ps2 because with all the great library the ps2 had it would have gotten flattened but the competition.An example of this is Killzone which was hyped to be the "Halo Killer" and ended up selling much less then even inticipated and is never talked about in that light now that Killzone 2 is coming.
All in all what im saying is that all us gamers are getting force fed by the big 3.You notice that without hype most of the good games dont sell?and even with hype some are so bad that even hype cant help them.
What im waiting for is what happens when we hit the ceiling graphics wise?Right now people are flooding thier drawers over graphics(take any title MGS,GTA,Gears,GoW and people never talk about gameplay,why is that?people always say its beautiful but never say man the control is phenominal,or that game was such a challenge i had a blast)
When we hit the ceiling what is left?Thats when we will see the real games.Games that makes Gears and God of War look tame.Art design along with gameplay will again rule supreme just like it did in the Golden age of gaming.

Make a traditional Zelda like "A link to the Past" but a new story (obviously).

Something for the core gamers to play while we're waiting for the next "big" Zelda to come out.

Everyone knows Nintendo is legendary. They're only a games company, whereas Sony and Microsoft are huge arse megaconglomerates. After the failure of the Gamecube, they NEEDED money to stop themselves going under like Sega did. Right? So there's no complaints or questions as to why the Wii exists. Nintendo have made their money, so now they're getting back into the swing of making real games for the console - but as evidenced, the Wii will never get taken seriously by any real gamer. Sure, there are people like us to love the Wii and the selection of core games it has, but it'll always get looked down upon by everyone else because it isn't on par with the PS3 or 360 in terms of graphical power or features. Even Wii fanboys can't deny that the WiiWare and Virtual Console are hardly being used to their potential.

Just wait for next generation. Now that Nintendo are raking in the cash, their next console WILL match the PS4 and 720. Remember that the gaming market isn't the same to Nintendo as it is to Sony or Microsoft. Do you really think either of those companies would care if the market died tomorrow? No, they wouldn't. They'd simply divert all their resources to their divisions. Nintendo needs the games market because it doesn't cater for any other. Nintendo will make a great console next generation, so just enjoy what time you have left with the Wii and the awesomely unique games available for it.

But this generation is the PS3's, without a doubt. There are far too many amazing games coming to it, with even more impressive graphics and whatnot. Stuff like Kizzy 2 and White Knight Chronicles are the games that would never get equalled on the Wii. Such a thing is impossible. The Wii can't match the PSN, either, or the games that get released on there. I mean, what Wii game can match Warhawk for popularity? The only real draw for people is the Virtual Console, and even that isn't being used properly. The Wii has been a failure for core gamers, and noone can dispute that. Sure, Ninty are aiming to fix that - but it's too late, as far as I'm concerned. When releases on a console are dictated by MOTHERS, I know the console is lost to me. I'll still buy the few games coming out for the Wii that I actually like the look of, like Sin & Punishment 2 and Another Code 2, but I'll never love my Wii anywhere near as much as I love my PS3.

So just accept that both have their advantages, that Nintendo had their reasons for releasing the Wii and that Sony have a superior console this generation, okay?

Sony has a superior console to whom?that is opinionated and the fact you think ms and sony woudltn cry in their soup if the video game industry fell through is crazy seeing as how the reason why sony and ms got into video games is because it makes more profit then movie studios.Also funyn how you claim the gamecube was a failure when every nintendo console ever made has turned a profit.Yet again people on here turning opinion into fact.

I'm happy with 2009 as far as the Wii goes, as far as what Sony's camp is offering there are a few games, but the key ones don't seem to have dates yet. However I am getting Tekken 6, but I hope Capcom releases Gforce vs Capcom stateside.

like, i was talking to a friend of mine in college saying i was thinking in buying a DS, out of nowhere appeared a guy saying i was stupid that i would buy a PSP that it was way better...

it's so dificult to give credit to what others are doing?
the Wii owners (most of them) don't get into the PS3/Xbox 360 dissing their consoles, and when something really get bad, we too bash it (like Ninty E3 show).

you know, sony, nintendo and microsoft could be fighting for market share... but we are only gamers, i am almost sure the fanboys don't get anything from the dissing and flame wars, only hate...

and anyway, if the like their consoles so much, why they are wasting time on this site? you guys aways says your consoles games libary are gigantic, then why are you fanboys not playing your games? aren't you the super hardcore gamers, way better than we, mortal humans?
