Game making software is already one of the toughest categories to try and review, and RPG Maker Fes might be one of the most difficult yet. Those who are familiar with the PC RPG Maker programs are bound to find this title somewhat limited in features, and those new to the genre may find the lack of guidance frustrating. Yet beneath those concerns and limitations is a surprisingly robust tool that can make perfectly fun games for your 3DS and those of others - which is actually pretty cool when you think about it.
Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "If you could describe any video game publisher as ‘hot’ right now it would have to be NIS America, the North American branch of Nippon Ichi Software. Case in point, in the just last few months we’ve gotten three excellent titles from them (RPG Maker Fes, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana) and are eagerly awaiting the launch of Culdcept Revolt, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle and Tokyo Tattoo Girls between now and the end of the year. We really are living in the best timeline if we get to play all these excellent titles that otherwise might not have made it overseas and for that we have NIS America to thank. So for this week’s top 10, we’re counting down the best games they have every published in North America."
NIS has been keeping me and my playstations busy for years and hoping for more years to come.
All in all, RPG Maker FES has a lot to offer for aspiring game makers. Anyone can freely download the RPG Maker FES player from the eShop and play games that other users have made. DLC packs offering more content will be released in the future and we look forward to seeing what everyone can do with this software.
The long running game creator series has come to Nintendo 3DS with RPG Maker FES. Is it a portable game development dream?
