Kingdom Hearts III's Release Window Announced at D23, at Long Last

Kingdom Hearts fans are now one step closer to know when they'll finally be able to play Kingdom Hearts III; It's really coming in 2018.

Dont get too carried away i'm betting this defo gets delayed till at least 2019. Im hoping i'm wrong as i like kingdom hearts but still i can't see a 2018 release for it. Maybe March 2019.

Nah, development of this game has been going smoothly ever since the transition to Unreal Engine 4. I could see that if they were still using FFXV's engine, but they're not. I actually kind of expected a 2018 release date, but it's just really nice to hear.

You have to take the date, 2018, and add Square Enix Time™ to it, so expect late 2019-early 2020.

I always suspected this game would come out next year

- MGSV: GZ was released on in 2014 and MGSV: TPP was released in 2015.
- FFXV: Episode Duscae was released in 2015 and FFXV was released in 2016.
- KH0.2 was released in 2017 so it's only logical to believe KH3 will release in 2018.

Surprised they kept it under 5 years from announcement to release. Very glad though, fully expected 2019 or later.

I think they on a better track since moving to Unreal Engine 4. I think their pace will speed up in the future.

Hmm, they may just put the saga from KH1-3 in one set eventually, since it's called the Darkseeker Saga. There's a new saga starting with KH4.

I was really betting on the fact that SE would one day put 1.5, 2.5, and DDD (now 2.8) on one disk eventually before KH3 releases, but now it looks like that won't happen. I would have bought these remasters long ago.

I guess the bright side of this is that I can get all these games for cheaper now. So my patience wasn't all for naught.

I highly recommend BBS and BBS 0.2. They do have essential story as they're both a prequel to KH1 that affects KH3.

Sadly you might. Most of the very important stories are in kh1-2 but there will definately be tons of references from the portable games. Id recommend picking up kh1.5+2.5 and 2.8, otherwise im sure there are tons of summaries out there that cover all of the kh games.

They're great games, especially birth by sleep so I recommend playing them. I'd say you'll get 1.5 + 2.5 and 2.8 for a good price in the sales in November.

The problem is, I want to like this game. I enjoyed the first, but the second was so... bad. It has such a cool concept and the mash-up with Disney locations is great. The problem is the story is way over complicated, the battles are very repetitive, and the cut scenese are soooo long. After watching this new trailer, it looks like KH3 is going to be the same way. And remember, it was first announced at E3 2013. So it's going to be released 5 years after it was revealed?? Seriously. What is taking them so long?
