Crackdown Demo Impressions

There's less reason to speculate that Jones' Realtime Worlds got it right when creating the first real-deal persistent world in console gaming. Late last night, Microsoft dropped an one-plus gigabyte demo of Crackdown, complete with a taste of the co-op action. If the current traffic jam on the server is any indication (four-plus hour downloads are being reported), all this talk of Crackdown being merely a portal to the Master's domain is looking quite unfounded.

im about to download it, but in the past i have downloaded games as big as Crackdown, and they havnt taken ages either, so i dont see why this one would.

Downloaded at 5 minutes after the hour it was released (4:05AM my time) and it was done at around 7AM.

And yes, I do have a cable modem.

Worth it? You bet. Can't wait to get the full version. Played the demo 3 or 4 times now til time ran out. Awesome.

But I just played RB6 while I was waiting.

I got the demo to see if I would be getting more than the Halo 3 beta, and I'm actually suprised how good it is. I love the RPG elements tied into it.

At the 30 min mark I was at 65% and went to the market and came back in 20 min and it was at 99%. I have a 8mb download from Timewarner.
And I love this demo more than the Saint Row and we all found out how good Saint Row ended.

I have played grand theft auto’s games but this demo it is 10 times better and funnier than all the grand theft autos together I can not wait for the game I have played CD about 6 times it is really good.

I thought it was alright, quite fun in co-op so I'm going to get it as well. I hope they fix the aiming sensitivity because it is way too slow

i think it is ace, the auto targeting could do with a tweak but the game is finished so i can let that slip i suppose, it took me ages 2 download it about 3 and half hours but was downloading it when eeryone else was, i didnt mind i just played Marvel ultimate alliance on hard mode. I love the sawn off shoutgun and the grenades, especially when you level up and can auto aim ya grenades. Was upset when demo time ran out

City, is the best to date, loads going on. The graphics were great. On the hole the controls were good but and it's a BIG but, the aiming is totally rubbish. The auto target aims in on everything apart from the thing you actually want to shoot. Also you have to disengage it in order to re-aim instead of being able to just switch to a new target. Really knackered it up for me.

Another thing was the baddies seem to continually re-spawn which I hate, I ended up just running like mad straight to the boss and shooting just them.

With a little tweaking it could be very good. as it stands it's just average.

I think the game is great I can't wait for the 20th of febuary. I hav eplayed the demo at least 20 times now and I just can't get enough. I find new things to do every time I play. I especially love the hidden orbs. I like the challenge not to mention that with download content they could just add an entire new island with more stuff to mess around on. They did a great job with this game.

Yeah... I didnt like the game much. I thought the cell shader graphics were under par, and the gameplay wasnt that fluid.

I'm not really a fan of these games, so I had a bias going into it, but I though Saints Row was better than this. Control schema was totally off.
