Pure Opinion: Crash Bandicoot Remaster is as Frustrating as Dark Souls

Pure PlayStation: As I’ve written here on this site before, the PS1 days were full of random gaming moments due to not actually owning the system. So my Crash Bandicoot playtimes were all dependent on where friends were in the game or what communities had the titular disc with the accompanying hardware. My memories of the orange menace was mostly positive and definitely something I can remember with enjoyment. Unfortunately, I was either an incredibly patient kid (which is beyond me) or I’m just more methodical now because those rose-tinted glasses were on tight.

Everytime a game is a little more challenging, people always say it's like Dark Souls. Stop comparing every single game to DS!!!! Crash Bandicoot isn't even that hard, if you take your time to jump right you can finish any level.

why do ppl compare literally every goddamn game to Dark Souls like. We get it, DS is a hard game but really? im so sick of seeing this. DS is not the only hard game out there.

Now, don't shit on this guy just yet. Before playing the Crash Remaster trilogy, I would've had the same reaction as all of you. I would've shat on this guy for making such a silly comparison. However, after playing the Crash Remasters, you can definitely tell that it's a bit harder because of the jumping mechanics (yes they do feel kind of broken). I was the kind of guy that got 100% in the originla PS1 trilogy multiple times. If you asked me to beat all the PS1 Crash levels without losing a life, I could do it in front of you right now. However, this new remaster trilogy, there's definitely something "off" about the jumping mechanics. I don't know if it's the input lag from my tv, controller, etc. But I'm losing lives in levels that never posed a threat to me before. And I know it's not my fault, but it has something to do with the game.
Even the Crash Bandicoot subreddit is complaining about this. Don't get me wrong, I can still easily 100% this remaster, but I'm definitely losing more lives this time around, while in the PS1 trilogy, I can beat every level without losing a life

For those that think I'm wrong. I challenge you to play the remaster first. Try beating the level "the high road" without losing a life, and then come back to me

To answer about the jumping being off, Crash has less air time & they're using pill shaped collision boxes instead of the normal square ones.

After a lot of practice, I can beat the high road in a single life. But the time trials are Souls-esque in level of frustration for sure. The high road in particular took me like 50+ tries

It took me nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes to beat get the platinum relic for "the high road." My time was 1 minute and 4 seconds

The fact that Dark Souls isn't frustrating at all, it all depends on the user not the game itself. I usually compare it to golf. Golf is a hard sport in general because it isn't a sport you can pick up and all of sudden you are pro and can make these 100ft putts. You need to learn the golf course, learn your clubs, and learn how you swing. A lot that comes with practice and trial and error. Of course, you can quit and just say it is hard and frustrating but that is on you and not the game.

Now back to crash, it's very difficult but Warped is still fun and a man platinumed it. By far the best of the trilogy.

Dark Souls is a lot easier. It's just more of a grind. A man literally can't advance in Crash 1 and the time trials aren't even worth trying once a man got to the level where you're scaling the wall. A man platinumed Demon's Souls (which why does everyone default to Dark Souls when that one is the original?) and it was way easier than this!
