Home will not be coming with firmware 2.5

Home Community Manager "TedtheDog" has clarified statements he made last month on the US Home beta forums. In regards to a specific bug, Ted said the bug will be fixed in firmware update 2.5. "2.5 is what we're waiting for and 'October' is what I've heard, later October is my guess." He goes on make a statement that would seem to indicate Home 1.0 will be arriving at the same time.

Not the case, Ted stated on the official European PlayStation Home Forum. "Open beta will be later this year after 2.5 is released. Sorry about that, I should know better than to say anything that could be misconstrued like that on such an important subject." It's okay, TedtheDog, we forgive you ... all you have to do is tell us exactly when Home 1.0 will arrive. Just kidding! Or are we?

Yes, Jukkenn, basically yes. It is vaporware because it's not coming out in October like planned after the last 3 delays. Sony doesn't know what to do with Home. Ya know why? Cause it's junk. I'm in the beta and it's terrible. there is nothing to do and no reason to boot it up over your games 1st and foremost. Home offers up nothing in way of advantageous content. nothing. I have booted Home up 6 or 7 times for lengthy play sessions and boot up sessions and that was all I neded to know I wouldn't be booting home up 1st. No way. home is like e-mail, you know you have it. You know you'll check it when time permits, but days might pass before you do.

The xbox 360 doesn't pull you out of a game or detour your playing one and place you inside another application. that is what makes live so accessible and successful. home is an application you use outside of the ps3. Do you know how many damn familes won't even know what it is or does?

Don't you think if Home was a smooth transition it'd have been out last year when they said it would? Of course it would've. So... It would be better for Sony to shut up in the future about stuff, and not announce it for a couple of times. At the beginning of 2007 Sony said Home would release Fall 2007. Then it would be the end of 2007. Then it would be Early 2008, Spring 2008, Fall 2008...

They may not release it before its ready/done. But they should shut their mouth more to be able to deliver when they say they will.

what I'm confused about is to why people are now saying that it wont come out around the same time, he's merely clarrifying that it wont be on the same day which makes sense. Chances are I'm guessing around a week after 2.5

clearly they are aiming for october with 2.5 otherwise he wouldn't make that statement and I'm guessing that he's been working with the 2.5 update lately recently anyway, so I reckon that it'll all come together as soon as it's out, I'm seriously beginning to think there may be sonme form of cross chat which explains why it wouldn't work in home without the update. I'm guessing they want to have the caht as a continuos things, so that as soon as you're plucked into the game you continue yapping.

That Sony is going to let Microsoft drop a brand new operating system onto their box before they (Sony) are able to even complete this one application. This app isn't even a required online hub it is just an addition. Personally, I don't feel as if I'll even use Home. Quicker just to launch into a game via XMB. Really wish they would make in game XMB actually work. Should be able to use in game XMB for anything. Also still waiting to be able to stream music from my computer in game, a feature that is still sorely lacking on Sony's box. I love my Ps3, it's great for watching flicks and I have enjoyed all the exclusives, Wipeout HD rocks! More excited however about 360's relaunch (minus the avatars) then I am for Home. The past 6 out of the last 7 games I have bought were for PS3, but this fall I'll be picking up 360 titles (Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead and the 360 version of fallout3)and pick up a few of the Sony titles at another point in time. Likely during the slow part of winter.

i never had that much games for my 360. PS3's exclusives are just amazing. the system made me forget about my 360 really fast ;-)
