just a hunch, but I think a console that's about 6 times more powerful than the Switch will have no trouble handing the Switch its own rear end on a silver platter.

scarface01212887d ago

Wow no mention of games. Xbox is better just based on power. What an idiotic comment.

Quality highly rated games and fun factor goes to switch. As a gamer I'm interested in games. If I wanted power I wouldn't get a weak xbox or playstation I'd get a pc.

Sonic_Vs_Mario2887d ago (Edited 2887d ago )

Wow no mention of no 3rd party support. Nintendo Switch is better just based on exclusives. What an idiotic comment

NewMonday2886d ago

Switch has great exclusives not on any other platform, Xbox games are on PC and overshadowed by the PS4 in thew home console space.

Aenea2886d ago

Xbox One: 1000 games
Switch: 30

There, games, even with games the One X wins!

Bronxs152886d ago (Edited 2886d ago )

@aenea

Nice comment. Really puts it in perspective

XStation4pio_Pro2886d ago (Edited 2886d ago )

@sonic_vs_mario:

somewhere, sometime at some place, someone made the argument that only 1st party exclusives matter. the good news is that they do matter. the bad news is that they are only 1 piece of a big pie. nintendo has tons of exclusives, thats true. so many in fact that thats all they have. thats not a good thing. that means it will never have competitive titles that play on the other systems. that means it will have little 3rd party support. anyone who owned a mac in the early 2000s or a Wii U will tell you how much it sucks to not be supported by a whole industry that supports everyone else. You can only put Mario and Link in so many games before you need something else. You also assume that every exclusive is a 10. thats hardly the case. tons of exclusives get hammered on reviews. thats true for MS, Sony and Nintendo. Also - Nintendo lacks most adult oriented games. Why would I care about a bunch of Nintendo exclusives if my favorite games are things like Grand Theft Auto, Forza, sports games, or Fallout. no love there. 3rd party games are the lifeblood that keep things moving in between exclusives. "can i play mass effect on switch?" "no". "oh but i'll be able to play the new battlefront 2, right?" "no". "oh... well... what about that new destiny game coming?" "no".

XanderZane2886d ago

I'm also interested in 3rd party games, which the Switch won't have much of at this point. Most of the 3rd party games they are getting are older PS4/XB1 Indie games like Bomberman, Shovel Knight, Binding of Isaac, etc... I'm still curious as to how Skyrim will run on the Switch. It's going to be downgraded severely.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2886d ago

@Aenea
Wrong. Switch has over 87 games available right now after 4 months.
Has over 160 developers developing games and counting and has more exclusives than Xbox One entire lifespan in one year oh and higher rated and sold more exclusives.

2886d ago
_-EDMIX-_2886d ago

@Aenea- Agreed.

If I had to only own 1, I just have to side with XONE.

Its hard to care about Switch when the only publisher making good games for it is Nintendo.

Aenea2886d ago

@otaku

Nope, wrong, at end of this year there are barely 100 games out for the Switch, half of which haven't released yet as of now.

A 1000+ games have already released for the Xbox One.

Many more developers than 160 are making games for the Xbox, besides most of the 3rd party titles for the Switch are also on the Xbox (titles like Rime, Shantea, etc., etc.). Even the NeoGeo games are...

Look, I own a Switch and am liking it a lot, but don't tell me at the moment it's worth more than an Xbox One when the Xbox has so much more games for it.

I have a switch and I agree. It's not just the power either. Switch won't have all the big multiplatform 3rd party titles, it doesn't have apps, no streaming, no dvr, no bluray drive, no hard drive, literally it just plays low powered games. I like my switch but I wouldn't even call it a console. It's just a handheld mobile that happens to be easy to play on a tv. But that's literally all you can do. And if you love your high fidelity, switch obviously can't do 4k, doesn't support hdr and for you surround sound guys, switch offers stereo out (no optical output) vs the one x's Dolby Atmos (which also works with its uhd 4k hdr bluray)

2886d ago
Dragonscale2886d ago

The irony will be delicious when the switch hands scorpio a beating lol. Power isn't everything as you will soon discover.

ziggurcat2886d ago

That won't happen. There's already exponentially more content available (and will be available in the future) on the X compared to the Switch. It won't get any real 3rd party support, either.

joab7772886d ago

Unfortunately, it may be wasted hardware as millions flock to play Zelda and Mario. Though that is this year and I worrying for the Switch once the games that were meant for the WiiU are done releasing! How long will we wait for another Zelda and Mario?

conanlifts2886d ago

We have an idea of the games releasing next year. Yoshi, Kirby, Pikmin 4 and maybe Metroid (they hinted this is quite far along). In addition Fire Emblem, Shin megami Tensei and Sonic. Couple that with 2-3 more Wii U ports and maybe 1-2 unannounced games and you have most of the big 2018 first party releases already announced.

MegamanXXX2886d ago (Edited 2886d ago )

Switch will win in sales and first party exclusives. One X will win in third-party support and power. I said this in a different article my bad

conanlifts2886d ago (Edited 2886d ago )

Not even close. I own a Nintendo Switch and it is at best 500gflops fp32 and 1tflop FP 16 (no idea where they got 1.3Tflops from, would love to know, but it does not have the same GPU speed as an Xbox One). X is 6Tflops Fp32, which is 12x more power. I think the Switch also has just 2GB of ram available for games, running at 25.6GB/Sec vs 9Gb running at 326Gb/sec on the X.

Its a weird comparison as they are both so different. Switch will easily sell more, but the X is a very different machine.

@Aenea there was an article about Nintendo Switch games. There are currently 80+ available for purchase on the eshop. Most of them also run at 60FPS, although they do not hold their resolution well and use dynamic resolution techniques. Having said this the only games I have purchased are Nintendo games. Nothing else has been worthwhile for me yet.

R00bot2886d ago

Wait, lemme get this right... You think the Xbox One X is gonna be more powerful than a portable system? Look buddy idk what you're smoking but you need to get off it. Next you'll be telling me that water is wet or something preposterous like that.

Lol they don't.... Xbox one X is miles ahead of the Switch.

The Switch is a great handheld console, but doesn't compete with Xbox or PS.

Neonridr2887d ago

they bang the beat of their own drum I guess. And I honestly don't mind that. The Switch really is an interesting little device, and I love that I can take my home console games with me on the go and sacrifice very little.

XStation4pio_Pro2887d ago (Edited 2887d ago )

Agreed 100. I have a switch (and PS4 pro and xbox One s) so I feel I'm a good real life experience example having the major 3. I dig it but I don't really feel like it actually competes with a real console. It's just a mobile that's easy to play on tv. That's it. It's fun but even beyond the lack of any major AAA releases it will never get, nor could it even run in any form of a competitive presentation, there is zero functionality. No apps, no high fidelity, no DVR or game streaming or movie streaming or anything. For my wife and I, the switch has ended up being the goofy party trick with friends and it's good for that (or I'll play Zelda in bed when it's late). But for any other time I'm mostly on the One S or PS4 Pro (which is why I'm def buying a one x). Even aside from the power there are just tons more games on both of those systems. I've been so used to the Sony/ms boxes that I literally was dumbfounded by how absolutely minimal the switch is in what it offers. They call it a hybrid but to me it's a mobile with a big tv adapter.

Bronxs152886d ago

Switch isn't a home console!?!?

Someone should send the memo to NINTENDO

EddieNX 2886d ago

Are u trying to deny that the Switch LITTERALY 100% can be used as a handheld in exactly the same way the 3ds, Vita could? Home consoles ARE NOT portable. Switch is a hybrid.

_-EDMIX-_2886d ago

lol they should.

Its still a portable device.

R00bot2886d ago

Idk why everyone straight away compares power when it's so obvious that they're for different audiences, and one of them is a freakin portable.

2pacalypsenow2886d ago

If they are for different audiences, then why even compare them?

Xbox 1 X has the power and game variety the Switch doesn't have.

EddieNX 2887d ago

They don't . One is a handheld/hybrid and the other is a supercharged home console, it depends on what u prefer.

LOL_WUT2887d ago

The question is which console will give the consumer the most bang for your buck. I'd say the X1 wins this one easily ;)

mcstorm2887d ago

I don't know it depends on what you want.

I think the best answer is the customer. I enjoy playing both the xbox one and Switch and I'm waiting to see what games like forza 7 look like on the xbox one before deciding to move to the x on day one or not.

They are both different though one you can take on the go and the other is all about power.

EddieNX 2886d ago

Again, its more a matter of opinion and indivduals. Someone who travels a lot will find infinitely more value in Switch and arguably, better games. I've yet to play an XB1 that is close to BOTW.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2886d ago

more like which will make you spend a lot and not get a lot out of it. Xbox One X.
Only thing One X is giving you is more power for Xbox One. That it. Nothing new.

_-EDMIX-_2886d ago

XONE wins by default of giving more to the consumer.

Its hard to side with Switch when it has so few games and is already getting less support by default.

Neonridr2887d ago (Edited 2887d ago )

strange that they would use the One X for comparison. Really the Switch is only comparable to the base XB1 and PS4. The Pro and One X are in a league of their own since they offer 4K gaming.

goken2886d ago

i don't think it even compares to the ps4 n Xbox one base models... but i don't think that's the point of the switch. it offers something ps4 n Xbox one doesn't, mobility and Nintendo exclusives

RAM0N 2887d ago

yeah, the xbox one wins this.

DragonDDark2886d ago (Edited 2886d ago )

Switch for me. Can't find any good exclusives on the 1X. Except for hopefully cuphead.

riverstars862886d ago

Yea, Xbox One hasn't had or will have any good exclusives..... SMH!

We won't even go into 3rd party titles in this comparison, that's not even up for debate.

Just a silly response from an ignorant fanboy.

R00bot2886d ago

@riverstars86
Maybe DragonDDark has a PS4, thus multiplatform games aren't a factor in his decision?

riverstars862885d ago

@R00bot

If that is the case, then DragonDDark shouldve been more clear.

Regardless, this is a comparison between Xbox One X and Nintendo Switch. Exclusive preferences between the two systems is subjective, but at this point, 3rd party is objectively in Xbox One X's favor.

Another excellent addition to Gamepass out of nowhere!

Redgrave2h ago

They could add a still image of cartoon poop as a game and you'd still say it was an excellent addition and xbox/gamepass owners are eating good.

But yes, this is indeed a good addition. Perhaps Icewind Dale & Planescape Torment will soon follow, unless it's already on there.

GhostScholar8h ago

I have a feeling 3 will drop at the games showcase into game pass.

anast3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

These games are ancient. There is no shadow dropping. They released an couple of ancient games on a platform. This is the same with every other ancient game that gets released on every other platform. Title: "Now You can play BG I & II on Xbox."
