The guy gets an E for effort. But I am sorry, he is not qualified to talk about the Pros and Cons of getting the X, because he doesn't know the difference between Native 4K and Upscaled 4K. He thinks the differences between the S and the X visuals will be small are small because the X already runs game at 4K resolution.

Oh my! I need a drink... I don't drink.

Aenea2899d ago

Haha, yeah, that was seriously weird!

XBOX is a luxury item, it definitely isn't for everyone. For those who want a premium console gaming experience in your living room this is how you get it.

TheDCD2898d ago

Good point, they can be quite a bit different. But with the Xbox One X not yet on shelves, it's hard to tell just how it'll be supported across the board, and with older games.

Bigpappy2898d ago

All true maybe you can help him write the article

_LarZen_2897d ago

I encourage contributors to flag this article as it shouldn't be approved. The article writer dont know the difference of a Xbox One X and a Xbox One S.

JackBNimble2896d ago

That how ever, will be type of the general public when the X is released ... just saying, most people won't have a clue.

lennyvon2897d ago

More games will have 4k /2k upscaled support on the x when it launches than is currently available on Ps4. Google it.

You do know that a 4K or even 8K display can upscale a video signal using various scaling techniques some being almost as good as if the content was actually at a native resolution, don't you?

Native 4K is nice but if you as the viewer can't really tell the difference between native 4K and image scaling methods such as "Checkerboard Rendering" https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... then what does it matter?

In fact, most people can't tell the difference unless they do a side by side comparison with the appropriate image content. Sure people "can" tell the difference when told or at least think they can.

KillBill2897d ago

Except the actual point is that most people can't tell the difference until they start playing at Native 4K, then when they do go back to non-Native 4K resolutions then it is noticeable.

Similar to watching real 4K movie vs watching upscaled. Night and day.

Miss_Weeboo2897d ago

Not knowing the difference between native and up-scaled 4K, and still trying to write this sort of articles is just lame. But even more: When people point that out, he excuse himself "Oh, we don't have the actual hardware yet" then dude, perhaps: you shouldn't write this sort of articles yet?

It's very simple, if you have a nice hdr 4k TV and have savings in the bank left aside for your gaming hobby then why not buy a mid gen upgrade Xbox one x or pro, if you don't have a hdr 4k TV or not planning on getting one anytime soon then don't buy it, it's that simple. For me personally 4k starts with the next installments of consoles ps5 and Xbox 2.

nitus102897d ago

if you are waiting on the PS5 or XBox?? (whatever) which would most likely start to make an appearance in 2019 or 2020 then I would be looking at an 8K display since they are out now and while expensive (Dell Ultrasharp 32", 8K - $5000 USD) will drop dramatically in price within the next two to three years.

As an aside, I would personally look at a monitor for high-resolution gaming since you won't be interfering with other members of your household. Even a 27" 1440p monitor looks really nice when a PS4 or PS4pro or XB1 is connected.

BTW. I have an IPS monitor that I predominately use for my PC and my PS4 (colours are excellent) since my wife prefers the TV for her shows which are not gaming related. Yes, I could easily afford a 4K monitor but IMHO that for me is overkill.
