Sony Interactive Entertainment America President Shawn Layden feels that this is going to be a good year for PlayStation's Japanese game developers.

It is, Shawn Layden. Good to see Knack 2 is getting improvement a lot, but there more to it. I I think Gran Turismo Sports will boost PS4 sales even further and Everybody's Golf will have a good reception.

been waiting for Everybody's Golf for 4 years. In the original teasers for PS4 their was a tiny spot in the image that showed a hot shots club doing one of those perfect fire ball hits. So I assumed it was coming in the first year or 2 of the system... The wait is almost over though.

Everybody's Golf is a quality series, and your knowledge certainly is lacking.

Clap Hanz has only ever made exclusive "Everybody's" games for PlayStation for almost the past 20 years. Shawn has a historic tenure inside the Japanese arm of PlayStation and knows and appreciates that studio's input, and probably considers them as first-party for that very reason, even though they're technically second-party.

Everybody's Golf is the original name, they only used Hot Shots Golf for NA for whatever reason. I guess they decided having two separate names was unnecessary.

Would totally love The Legend of Dragoon remade for PS4, could be more fun than the FF7:R so long as they keep faithful to the original, bring back prerendered backgrounds eg. RE Remakes, wouldn't give a care bout these expensive big budget top of the line realistic graphics that games just keep getting delayed..

Really all I want is the good age of JRPGs to come back in force with their style, Chrono Trigger, FF4-9 just a higher player models, battle levels, U/HD pre-rendered backgrounds. Its nice to see some titles that try do this, but not in a way where its marketed as a "big game", just give us FF4-9 remastered with pre-rendered backgrounds, high polygon characters with advanced shades in all & release on as many platforms as possible.. + make new titles that follow the same design.

Oh well, loving playing Star Ocean 3 atm & Persona 5 was very good, can't be stuffed playing FFXV DLC, game was over once I finished the story which was good but so much was missed & the combat ended up being just horrible.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom and Dragon Quest XI are coming out this year, although the latter is the Japanese release, so, yeah, this year is indeed amazing for Japanese devs. Not to mention the Japanese-made games that already came out like Nier: Automata and Nioh.
