Opinion: Why I’m Optimistic About the New Spider-Man Game

One of the most impressive games of E3 2017 was undoubtedly that of Insomniac’s Spider-Man. Could they give us the best Spider-Man videogame in a while?

I'd be optimistic too if I wanted to watch a 10 hour animated spiderman with a few QTE. Or a better choice would be seeing Homecoming....

Really one of the huge differences between Microsoft and Sony. Do you want to watch something and hit a few buttons, or do you want to play a game?

That setpiece moment in an otherwise combat & traversal focused open-world game really brought out the trolls.

Well yea. The title is a bit silly. We should be optimistic by default about incoming games unless there's a reason otherwise.
I would say I'm confident it s going to be a great game which is much more than just optimistic.

I was skeptical on the first trailer, but this year's E3 gameplay sealed the deal for day one purchase.

I just needed to know Spiderman + Insomniac to get me sold haha
I even enjoyed the previous Spiderman games so I can't go wrong mind you :)

Certain scenes look believable, but where he jumps and leaps through a busy restaurant or the where you see a busy street of moving NPCs while he's swinging through all while the scene happened smoothly with gorgeous graphics was too good to be true for an actual gameplay. Looking at Insomniacs games they're known for busy environment with nice graphics, but the 2016 Spiderman trailer showed busy environment with gorgeous graphics which makes me a bit skeptical. Glad they proved me wrong.

One thing I forgot is that the game was designed on a single platform handled with care by Sony, Marvel, and Insomniac.

Insomniac. That's reason enough for me. This is one of those rare partnerships in which I can't envision another developer that's better suited for the franchise. Evidently, Sony felt likewise. As soon as they regained the rights to Spidey they put Insomniac to work.

It's always good to be optimistic. But from what insomniac has produced lately with Rachet and Clank and Sunset Overdrive mixed in with Marvel input the game should be amazingly good.
