GTA 5: Rockstar Gets Take-Two to Back Off on OpenIV Modding Tool Cease and Desist

GTAV modding lives on - on the single player side. It looks like all those negative reviews (now up to 52k as of press time) left on the GTA V Steam page did the trick. Rockstar issued a statement regarding the cease and desists sent to the developers of OpenIV, the main modding tool for Grand Theft Auto V.

See you do something it gets sorted

Now if only those same people and more could gang up on Rockstar for the lack of single player DLC and the massive focus on MT for the online

BiglyBoyGeorge2923d ago

I also wish there was more single-player DLC in their more recent games, but I understand why not. The cost vs benefit leans way more in favor of MP DLC. Plus, their games have more content packed into them for every dollar than just about anybody else in gaming, so I can't be too greedy when they give me a game like GTAV.

TheOptimist2923d ago

You absolutely don't mess with the PC gamers lol

In all seriousness though, kudos to Rockstar for going against their publisher. #respect

BiglyBoyGeorge2923d ago

Yeah, it's sad seeing Rockstar get dragged through the mud because of Take Two. They've always been really good about supporting their players and giving them a lot of value.

VigoMiAmigo2923d ago

Good to see Rockstar standing up to their publisher. This is like Upham in Saving Private Ryan, when he redeems himself.

BiglyBoyGeorge2923d ago

Are you saying Rockstar let its fans get horrifically stabbed in the heart and did nothing?

FullmetalRoyale2922d ago

That was the roughest scene to watch, as violent as that movie is.

Sony Faces Class Action in the Netherlands Over Allegedly Inflated PlayStation Store Prices

Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation in the Netherlands has filed a class action against Sony for inflating PlayStation Store prices.

dveio8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

My personal opinion:

Manufacturers and publishers have indeed inflated the industry.

From $700 million development costs for games like Call of Duty, to digital (store) prices for games and DLCs, online multiplayer fees on consoles (why can you play Helldivers 2 online for free on PC but not consoles?) or still preventing sell/lend digitally purchased games.

Sometime in the future, this bubble will collapse.

They should know better, but they just can't help themselves and suck even the last penny out of our wallets.

BeHunted5h ago

Because Sony knows people will be forced to pay those prices for single player and multiplayer games, not everyone prefers PC gaming. Sony also has a monopoly on PlayStation digital games. In 2019, they stopped allowing retailers and game key sellers to sell PlayStation digital games, making them available only through the official PlayStation Store

anast8h ago

The Dutch gov. wants a piece of the pie.

Eonjay7h ago

They should be suing the individual publishers increasing the prices to $80 instead of suing the store. There are plenty of publishers still selling game for like $50 with much success (like E33). But this proves that the publishers are the ones setting the prices.... so again nothing changes because they aren't even going after the main offender. How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD? Sony being the number one store in the market doesn't mean that publisher have to charge us an arm and a leg. Again the industry is laughing at us because consumers never get real representation. Just these fake platitudes that are meaningless.

"How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD"

Because Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly, I can purchase Call of Duty at a huge discount from CDKeys or other gaming retailers. The only way to purchase digital PlayStation games is through the PlayStation Store.

djl34854h ago

Weird, I swore GoW, Stellar Blade, Horizon Zero Dawn, TLoU, etc. were on the steam store....uh.....

BeHunted1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

@djI3485

I'm talking about PlayStation games that you can only purchase on PlayStation. I can purchase Steam and Epic games from 3rd party retailers and key stores.

About time. There is zero fair reason why digitally distributed products that you cannot recoup any value when you want to dispose of them, should be priced higher than that of physical copies that entail all of the costs and the benefits of owning.

Cancelled Batman Game Featuring Damian Wayne Character Designs Surface

"Project Sabbath" was a cancelled Batman game by WB Games Montreal where Damien Wayne was set to take on the mantle of the Bat.

Terry_B2d ago

Its time Damian ...and his mother too & how his son came to be will be a big part in a background story of a Batman movie, series or game.

-Foxtrot2d ago

I'd have rather seen Terry than Damian especially to see what they could have done with Terry in the Arkhamverse

excaliburps14h ago

No, WB doesn't want anything fun since suits want live service garbage for max revenue. LOL!

Shame. If we are getting any Batman games like these, it'll be years away.

LordStig2h ago

YES! make an Arkham game with Terry as Batman and call it Batman Beyond Arkham.

Babadook710h ago

Not to be confused with Damon Wayans.

jznrpg9h ago

I’m not a big superhero fan but I do enjoy the Batman and SpiderMan games. Too bad this one got cancelled. WB has been mostly shite live service.
