Sony Beats Microsoft At E3 Once Again By Doing What It Does Best

Every year at E3, it's that head to head match that grabs the most attention. Sony vs Microsoft, PlayStation vs Xbox. All the other companies can freely gun for attention on their own merits, but those two will always be locked in a mortal combat by virtue of two deeply similar platforms, with only one emerging victorious each year. This year, Microsoft walked in with a big advantage: it had Project Scorpio to show off, which we now know as the Xbox One X. But Sony, in its way, swaggered on stage and took the show again. This may not have been as strong a show as last year's, but Sony manages to keep winning by showing off its greatest strength in the face of Microsoft's greatest weakness.

The first 15 min of games were enough to set themselves up above MS'. No need for that annoying "Exclusive" announcement before each game...they spoke for themselves.

Heck, I'm just shocked at the sheer number of exclusives shown. And that's cause there's so many more in development that weren't shown today.

Abash2921d ago

The expansion for Horizon's story became my most anticipated thing to play. I just beat Horizon and it was incredible, I jumped out of my seat hearing it was getting an expansion and I wouldn't have to wait for Horizon 2 before experiencing more of it's incredible world

Aeery2920d ago

I can't belive there are some ppl who say M$ had a good conference.
Even Phil looked tired near the end...
I mean one of their most important games (and one of my most anticipated), Crackdown 3, is basically one of the most downgraded games ever.
Where is the destruction? This game looked in alpha stage... almost felt like an expansion of Crackdown 2.
All the other games, except Anthem (which EA did not show at their own conference...), are well known games and Forza 7 honestly did not look that impressive either. Sure good news for fans of the series, but nothing to drool on.

Sony?
Yeah, they didn't drop any bomb, but for the love of any god, their catalog is unbelivably good and we got a LOT of gameplay from some of the best releases we'll have in the next months.
I'm pretty sure most of us still have the images of God Of war, Spiderman, Detroid impressed on their retinas... Do you have anything still impressed on your retinas from MS conference!?

Babadook72920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

Sony showed more exclusive games. Microsoft showed more hardware. No surprise there. Sony had more audio issues. They also wasted less time on talk. Microsoft showed a PC game as though it was Scorpio and that doesn't sit well with me. I'd say it wasn't a huge blowout in Sony's favour like the last few years but Sony does indeed get another win.

Aeery2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

Since I really love the Crackdown franchise, you may take a look at this thread :
http://www.neogaf.com/forum...
where a guy from Sumo Digital (the devs behind Crackdown 3) is giving some answers, plus there are some gifs that show a better game we saw at the MS conference.
They are doing their best, but it's pretty clear MS gave up on this game and the power of cloud. (I still remember the comments here ... ).

In this very moment I really, really dislike MS attitude.

fenome2920d ago

For real though!

The Horizon and Uncharted DLC are both coming in a couple months too! My audio was messed up when they first showed but I caught 'em first thing in the morning and I'm stoked on both.

Ceaser98573612920d ago

I'm betting after the Microsoft conference, Sony dialed it back because they didn't need to come out firing this year. There is nothing that Microsoft did that make me take notice of anything in their conference. Will I get a One X? Yeah, next year, because there isn't anything top notch for the console this year.

Sony was great, yea can say the wow factor was missing but it was better than MS and like i said i was Impressed with the Little Beast called "X"

Remember, Microsoft no longer tells anyone what their console sales are anymore, probably because its pointless when you are getting beaten more than 2:1.

PS4 is sitting at 60.4 mil and still counting, the amount of System seller Sony has are to many...

UltraNova2920d ago

Sony won by a landslide and there's no discussion on the matter. However, the lack of megatons aka new AAA IP announcements or price cuts (psvr needed one) made their presser look inferior in comparison to last year's crazy E3 showing, so it's understandable that people are underwelmed.

An expansion was the only new thing. Day gone, detroit, god of war, spiderman, gt sport... all shown (or teased) last year.

And sotc remake.... yeah i will buy it but come on. Their show sucked worse than MS. Hell even MS showed more games.

Ok Pro... Sony sucked less than EA, bethesda, ubisoft and prob nintendo.

AspiringProGenji2921d ago (Edited 2921d ago )

Microsoft showed games they don't own. Sony showed games they own. There's the difference.

And while Sony showed barely anything new like MS, to say their show is worse than MS is laughable. Give it up already @Darth

ninsigma2921d ago

Nah. Playstation showed more interesting games, even if we've seen em before. Very few compelling titles to buy an xbox for shown yesterday.

darthv722920d ago

I amend my previous statement. Ubisoft show was pretty good and Nintendo was kick ass with the announcement of MP4 and showing a new yoshi, kirby and extended footage of Mario Odyssey.

Nintendo won E3 followed by a solid show from Ubisoft then MS and Sony (its a draw) with EA in last.

morganfell2920d ago

Really darth enough with the MSDF. You have been non-stop for days. Sony brought games. G-A-M-E-S.

King_Lothric2920d ago

More games? You mean more indi crap where the only 2 real exclusives are Super Lucky Tale and Ori. 😂

Sony, as always, presented more quality games. Not to mention that as of 2017, Sony is the only one providing a constant stream of true exclusives games with total commercial success while Xbox has intruloduced what?

Sitdown2920d ago

King_Lothric
Cup head not exclusive? I hope you support all these exclusives you talk about. Just because a game is indie doesn't mean it can't be quality. You all are horrible on both sides. Mean while the companies often work together.

OB1Biker2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

Yea Im guessing you like Crackdown trailer better than GOW which were the most anticipated from each conference. Fair enough everyone has preferences
oh and VR doesnt count right? right?

Babadook72920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

"An expansion was the only new thing. Day gone, detroit, god of war, spiderman, gt sport... all shown (or teased) last year. "

I agree we've seen these before. Other than Spider-Man which had only been teased with no gameplay. What AAA exclusive did MS show that was brand new?

Vengeance11382920d ago

The only new thing eh? Monster Hunter says "sup"

MegamanXXX2920d ago

The reason why I thought Sony won was because they showed off gameplay from their first party exclusives

kreate2920d ago

@Darth

This article is not about Ubisoft or nintendo, or EA.

Its about Sony and MS.

Last_Boss2920d ago

Ill just say this. Sony did EXACTLY what they were suppised to do. If anyone remembers the ridiculous amount of games that launched the first 4 months of this year, prepare for a repeat in 18. They are sitting back with a Matai in hand, cause their formula is mastered. Sony is not even thinking about an awards show. Now take Microsoft, they Open with Forza 4, Assasins Creed, Metro, & Anthem, 3 AAA multiplat and a racing game. (Which looked damned good). They also showed a 499.99 console with ONE AAA exclusive, which dwindled into(YES,) impressive indies, but not 500 impressive. The True 4K talk was also insulting for the average consumer, mentioned every other 5 minutes. Then we have Nintendo, who kept there cards very concealed until play. Which in my opinion after looking at it, if you're grading E3 for shock and show. Nintendo came in swinging the hardest. No, did we really not appreciate the absence of either game footage or trailer to accompany the Metroid or Pokemon Switch announcement, but the Mario trailer was really good and showed exactly what the game had in store. The Rocket League reveal was actually incredible, cause this game screams competitive yet fun, and in palms of your hands. It's also great to know XC2 is on it's way, just like Ni No Kuni is on its way this year too.

TitanUp2920d ago

I'm happy they showed those games to be honest. I have been waiting for a long time to see more gameplay for almost all of those titles.

GT sport is the only title i'm not really excited about.

Why o why2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

Morganfell

You've noticed Darths recent erratic behaviour too.

It's almost like someone hacked his account. .

The fact he actually thinks showcasing other peoples property trumps showcasing your own is laughable and illogical. He then states we knew about a number of the games. . . Ok. . So what new stuff did Microsoft show. . He's all over the gaff right now. I actually hope he's ok.

The truth is Microsoft needed this e3 more than Sony did. You can never catch the guy in front by matching their speed. You need move faster.
What we do know is most of the games Sony announced are coming along fine. Can the same be said for Microsoft. . . Did you see the cloud god crackdown. . . After it's 2013 announcement. . .mate

Anyway whoever 'wins' e3 has done the prospects part right, . .time will tell if they produce. . Bottom line is games and who releases the most intriguing and varied titles to actually play.

rainslacker2920d ago

Despite not having much new stuff to show, you can't deny that what Sony did show was pretty exciting. Something for almost everyone. VR lull sucked for the most part, but the rest was OK.

MS showed a ton of games, and while I am interested in a few of them, all but two of the games I'm interested in are multi-plat games, and they're not games that i can't wait on if they're timed.

MS conference wasn't bad, it just lacked mega-bombs, and MS in general completely failed to achieve what they needed to do, and that's justify Scorpio's existence by showing a good reason to get one. As it is, MS didn't really even show much to make the stock X1 look good.

Sony's games, in all their non-4K glory, just kicked MS showing into the ground and then kept kicking them into irrelevance.

When MS shows indie games which are more interesting, look better, and look to have better game play than CD3 which they've been hyping up for years now, you know MS has some issues which run deeper than just a lack of 1st party developers.

morganfell2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

@Why o why,

I have noticed it indeed.

"You can never catch the guy in front by matching their speed. You need move faster."

One of the most brilliant comments I have read regarding the console race. And yes there is a race and it exists even if people do not believe it and the individual hardware companies avoid speaking publicly concerning the matter.

You remark is akin to what I have always stated regarding COD. To be the next COD you cannot be COD. You have to be something different. Something groundbreaking or else elements approach that has attempted before but stood on its head and for the first time perfected.

I stated my prediction regarding the X1X months ago and everything MS did and failed to do at this E3 will only insure the veracity of my forecast.

agent45322920d ago

Ubisoft won E3 again, I just wish Ubisoft would stop downgrading their games to please console gamers. Skull and Bones, The Crew 2 and yes Assassin's Creed Origins are games I will definitely buy.

MrFisher212920d ago

Lying to yourself isn't healthy

Dark_Knightmare22920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

Why would anybody read your comment and take you seriously when you've done nothing but troll Sony and suck ms off since their conferences ended. Listen you just need to deal with the fact that Sony bested ms at e3 again it's not surprising it's a yearly occurrence. You want to know the biggest reason gaming sites are giving it to Sony over ms I'll tell you it's because Sony showed tons of awesome reasons for why you need a PS4 while ms showed you a ton of reasons why you don't need an x1

Petebloodyonion2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

@Morganfell
"And yes there is a race and it exists even if people do not believe it and the individual hardware companies avoid speaking publicly concerning the matter."

Please, by all means, tell me what are the rules for this race!
Where do I find them?
How long?
Is a new race starting with Nintendo?
How the winner's decided and by who?
Is Bethesda included?/ Steam? Nvidia?

When you will provide the rulebook I will gladly accept that a race is going on but in the meantime, I will only accept that the only real competition going around is the one with Sony/MS/Ubisoft/Nintendo/Capco m, etc. vs their shareholder expectations at the end of the fiscal year.

Godmars2902920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

@ninsigma:

I'd actually give MS a "B" and Sony a "C". There just wasn't anything behind their presentation. They were just there.

That said, also think MS really hurt themselves. They didn't prove that XBX was needed, but like with all their PR they only kept insisting that it was.

Knockknock2920d ago

@aeery You do know the footage shown was from the single player part of the game so no destruction. People will remember your comments when the game releases.

mark_parch2920d ago

people keep saying microsoft showed games that are coming to ps4 and while that is true they showed plenty of games that aren't like forza 7, sea of thieves, sate of decay 2 ( which i am looking forward to more than days gone ) ori and the will of the wisp, crackdown 3, cuphead and ashen. sony showed days gone, spiderman, detroit, uncharted expansion and god of war ( which looked fucking amazing ) but games aside imo microsofts show was way more entertaining

Hanilugtehul2920d ago

WilliamSheridan2919d ago

"No need for that annoying "Exclusive" announcement before each game...they spoke for themselves." Oh really you remember how much hate MS got after announcing Tomb Raider? MS lied this and that misleading and all that? Maybe MS doesn't want to go through that again and making the message clear. Nobody wants to here fanboys cry like a bunch of babies and bitch over all over again it gets very irritating mind you.

So no I'm glad MS is doing that.

SpaceRanger2921d ago

"Nobody wants to here fanboys cry like a bunch of babies and bitch over all over again it gets very irritating mind you."

We get it. They like third party exclusivity. They showed that with the indies in their show and we get it. But you have to admit, it was a lot more annoying with them trying so hard to scrape up something to call exclusive.

Aenea2920d ago

Yes, because saying "launch exclusive" is being clear.... Come on now, be serious, it wasn't clear at all, it was misleading, especially since the voice over said "exclusive" while on screen it said "launch exclusive".

But it's what MS loves to do...

OB1Biker2920d ago

That was way worse. They basically were lying half of the time with 'EXCLUSIVE' voice to show a timed. outright misleading uninformed people.

Xb1ps42920d ago

Off topic...

Who is this guy in god of war? Is it supposed to be kratos?

Razzer2920d ago

That was hardly clear. Folks were trying to figure out what the hell "console launch exclusive" meant. And Phil Spencer started out lying by saying there were 22 "console exclusives". Bullshit and lies. That was the MS conference.

Oh...and Forza.

Dark_Knightmare22920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

They still lied though by saying that and quietly adding in console launch exlcusive lol which is pathetic and has already resulted in playerunknown battlegrounds and black desert developers coming out and saying their games are coming to ps4

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

I don't think you understand what "console launch exclusive" means and that annoying voice said "exclusive" just before revealing at least 15 "console launch exclusives."

That is deceptive and so is the phrase "console launch exclusive."

WilliamSheridan2919d ago

Sony could have used an exclusive tag... Because a lot of what they showed wasn't exclusive

Aenea2919d ago

Lost Legacy is a stand-alone game like The Last of Us: Left Behind. It a 5 to 6 hour game. Why am I even responding to you?

XanderZane2920d ago

Sony's conference was pretty bad. Not much better then Microsofts'. A lot of stuff fans were expecting to see, was never shown. The audience barely clapped and seemed bored, especially during the VR games that were presented. Why Sony didn't show GT Sport, Everybody's Golf and Knack 2, which are all releasing this year, is beyond me. No Bloodborne 2 or The Last of Us 2. No updates on Shenmue 3, Kingdom Hearts 3 or FF VII remake. Not many New IP's. The fact they started the show with a Playstation Vue ad was disturbing. This was one of the worse Sony PS E3's I've seen in years. Their PS Experience has been better in some years.

Here is what they showed. More then half these games were already known or shown previously.

Uncharted Legacy
Days Gone
Monster Hunter World
Shadow of Colossus
Marvel vs Capcom Infinity
Skyrim VR
Star Child PSVR
The Inpatient
Monster of the Deep (FFXV) VR
Bravo Team (VR)
Moss (VR)
God of War
Detroit: Being Human
Destiny 2
Spiderman

Dark_Knightmare22920d ago

Nice try troll but you do know they muted the crowd audio which is why you didn't hear the crowd but you probably already knew that but like ms you were just trying to be misleading

XanderZane2920d ago

@Dark_Knightmare2
Not a troll. I play everything. It wasn't just the crowd that you couldn't hear for the first 10 mins. You couldn't hear the games either. After they fixed that, I had no problems hearing the crowd or games. Not sure what you are talking about with the crowd being muted. There was audio problems when the conference started. After that, it was fine. Honestly, you didn't need sound to see most of the crowd not clapping or screaming. Only 2 games they got excited about was God of War & Spiderman. I tell it like it is. I don't need to mislead anything. Everyone said Nintendo & Ubisoft had better E3 shows then Sony & Microsoft. I'm about to watch Nintendo's now.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2920d ago

@Xander

Uncharted Lost Legacy - release date
Days Gone - New gameplay and release window
Monster Hunter World - New gameplay
Shadow of Colossus - REMAKE not a remaster
Marvel vs Capcom Infinity - ok
Skyrim VR - And Skyrim VR is coming to Xbox when?
Star Child PSVR - ok
The Inpatient - New
Monster of the Deep (FFXV) VR - ok
Bravo Team (VR) - another FPS shooter in VR
Moss (VR) ok
God of War - New gameplay and release window
Detroit: Being Human - ok
Destiny 2 - ok
Spiderman - new gameplay and release window

Here's the thing about your analysis of Sony's conference. At least 3 of these games on this list has people saying "OMG! I can't wait to play that game!", and the only way you'll be able to play any of those games is to buy a PS4.

No one is talking about the games Microsoft showed because none of them have that "OMG! I can't wait to play that," hype like Spider-man or God of War. Days Gone is going to be a sleeper hit just like Horizon Zero Dawn.

XanderZane2919d ago

@IGiveHugs2NakedWomen
Hhhm.. I believe everyone was pretty blown away with Anthem, Forza 7 & Metro: Exodus. A lot of people said OMG when they found out the OG XBox was B/C on Xbox One X/XBox1S. So you're completely wrong there.

Hell no. Im ready for a fight in these comments.

I`ll say they showed good content but it went from "oh this is gonna be great...to wait its over?"

Even after the amazing spiderman footage the crowd was deader then hades in god of war 3.

I was getting bombasted by people on here saying Sonys lineup was gonna kill xbox.
It merely was there...but everything was 2018 with barely any release dates.

Even Gran Turismo took a knee and is now just FALL 2017.

I would call it a tie but from closer inspection Microsoft showed more content at there shown and games then Sony.

And NOTHING made Xbox One X irrelevant like a whole gang of people were smoking that good stuff on here.

ninsigma2921d ago

It's weird. Ps4 Sony showed amazing games, far better than what was shown at xbox conference but I still felt it was an overall weak e3 for them. I guess when you have stellar conferences like 2015 and 2016, it's gotta come down at some point. Either way, they beat MS after the first three showings but it got pretty boring in the middle until Spiderman was shown. Uncharted, Horizon, GOW, Spiderman, Days Gone and Detroit were all stellar. It was probably the lack of new things not being announced while stuff we already knew about being shown again with no definitive release dates. Meh, whatever. Like I said. Better than MS anyway.

UCForce2921d ago

God of War going to release in early 2018. My bet is March.

ninsigma2921d ago

Yep, I'd say March as well.

freshslicepizza2921d ago

The difference is Microsoft had to have a better show than they did, Sony can get away with what they did this year because they still have more content of their own.

The fact is Sony's show felt like a sizzle reel from 2016 with extended footage and Microsoft felt like a nod to indies and a lot on Scorpio but also a sizzle reel of games we already knew about. Microsoft had to do much better than Sony this year in order for anyone to think they beat Sony at E3.

agent45322920d ago

There is no Sony exclusive until 2018 lol. But man Ubisoft E3 kicked ass. In my opinion both Microsoft and Sony were mediocre at best. Microsoft demonstrated that they are no longer making Xbox One exclusives with all of xbox one games coming to PC. Pay $500.00 to upgrade xbox one utterly lame. So much for consoles for being cheaper than PC. Sony just threw a gaming reel and somehow that makes them better. Come on, no surprises no megatons, no excitement at all and the Sony audience looked bored as hell. For real picking an E3 winner between these two corporations is like picking as to who suck most at E3.

Sweet and straight to the point...GAMES, GAMES, GAMES. And you must've not been paying attention, they literally ended it before the last trailer. In my opinion, it was much better than the snooze fest of that 15min long Sea of Thieves gameplay that had people saying "is it over yet?"

"but everything was 2018 with barely any release dates. "

Not true at all. And that's because you're acting like they haven't delivered anything this year. People are still waiting for MS to atleast launch something since Halo Wars 2.

Sony truly let the games speak for themselves. Almost all AAA exclusive, and so much more diversity than MS' first party.

And no one said the Xbox One X was irrelevant? But don't act like you're already using it. You've been waiting for over a year now and still have another 5 months to go. Probably around the same amount of time for games too.

freshslicepizza2921d ago (Edited 2921d ago )

Thanks for the fake concern. Its honestly sad to see you guys try so hard to downplay PS4, it reeks of desperation. So you guys are worried about what Sony has for the fall? Seriously?! With the year you guys are having its truly ironic. What have you guys had all year? Lol. Halo Wars 2?!

Gran Turismo this fall alone will outsell EVERY Xbox exclusive this year. You guys set your bar so low that indie 'launch exclusive' list was enough. On top of that we got Crash then Uncharted rolling right into the fall.

You guys got what?

Sea of Thieves 2018
http://m.ca.ign.com/article...

So for Xbox you guys got another Forza and a underwhelming Crackdown 3 this fall? Just bursting at the seems with games! Lol.

Gee I wonder what PS4 has?

Crash
Uncharted Lost Legacy
Knack 2
Gran Turismo Sport
Horizon Zero Dawn Expansion
Y'S VIII
Ni No Kuni II
FF XII HD
FF XIV expansion
Yakuza Kiwami
Danganronpa Ultra Despair and part 3
Hellblade
Pyre
Matterfall
Warriors All Star
Gundam Versus
Zero Time Dilemma 3

So there won't be a shortage of exclusives already released and to come this year.

E3 for both Sony and MS wasn't on-par to be honest. I don't think anyone had a real killer game that would make one win E3 over the other. Sony showed more games and I was pleasantly surprised by the Shadow Of The Colossus remake announcement. Spiderman looked dope. Days Gone and GOW look great as well. MS showed hardware, so that balances the scale IMO

I think they purposely delayed demos/videos for Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding for next E3 which is why the line up looked a bit less but I think they did the good thing.

But, compared to 2016, this E3 was a bit of a downer. No Megaton moment.

Legendary-Status2920d ago

i think sony had the Last of Us II that was the bomb but no need for that on top i think Sony wanted Days Gone to shine...since the Last of Us deal's with zombie related things too i was thinking that so one let each game shine in their own time zone

WilliamSheridan2919d ago

They proved Sony could shit out a turd and fanboys will still eat it like it's Thanksgiving Day dessert...

AspiringProGenji2921d ago

Hell yes. First party support is what Sony does best and beats MS any day. They barely showed anything new, but Sony's 1st party commitment remains exemplary. That is what MS lacks to push the XboneX

KingKionic 2921d ago

Lol what is Sony doing to push Microsoft at E3 though? They damn sure wasn't doing anything to off shoot Xbox One X.

It launches in the fall.

Its absolutely insane to think 2018 titles give Microsoft any level of worry for launching Xbox One X.

AspiringProGenji2921d ago

They don't have to directly. MS is the one that needs to worry about getting some good content to push Xbox X, while Sony actually got content to keep pushing the PS4 and battle Xbox X

KingKionic 2921d ago

Lol what sidestepping foolery there. Now Microsoft needs to worry about "good content" for Xbox One X.

Before it was "Da ps4 super awesome spectacular xbox killer lineup" was a worry for Xbox One X.

Ridiculous. You cant make this stuff up.

AspiringProGenji2921d ago

What are you even talking about?

rainslacker2920d ago

@Kionic

It's not like MS has a killer line up to go along with the Scorpio. What exactly is MS releasing at the same time again?

Care to enlighten me?

Fight all you want slugger, but like I said your warped narrative ain't going anywhere.

I will be the first to admit that Sony's E3 conference wasn't close to as good as 2015 or 2016 - it could have in mind, but not in reality. The only reason Sony's conference could be considered a disappointment is that some people like myself was expecting Shenmue HD, and Sucker Punch's new IP and new FromSoftware game which are all most likely saved for PSX, and that the past 2 years spoiled us in unimaginable ways.

Sony already has a stacked 2017 and this conference was about release dates for this year and telling us what's confirmed for next year. MS has had an APPALLING year. Sony even has a better fall/holiday lineup than MS this year, with 2 of their supposed big hitters (Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2) being delayed into 2018 - and even their actual first-party showings were abysmal outside of Cuphead and Ori 2.

MS honestly showed mostly content that PS4 is also getting on day one and also drip fed over time. You could call that a better show if you're wanting to try and take claim to multiplatform games and timed-exclusive indie games, but Sony showed plenty that is only coming to their platform that actually looks incredible.

The price made the Xbox One X irrelevant to a whole bunch of people who will not buy it at that price and was expecting $399, and mocking others for suggesting it would not be more - not irrelevant to those who were always counting on buying it no matter what. And when God of War and Spider-Man - both shown on a regular PS4 - look almost as good as anything shown on their high-end PC posing behind-the-scenes as an Xbox One X, you know there's not much left to say.

Z5012920d ago

"everything was 2018 with barely any release dates"
So, you've already completed, Yakuza Zero, Nioh, Horizon, & Persona 5???

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2920d ago

Exactly, Exclusives make up maybe 25% of most gamers library, the rest are multiplats. The footage they showed to show off X1X was mouth watering, especially Forza 7 and Anthem!

Spider Man was sick and I got really excited about Shadow of the Colossus! Just beat Horizon so looking forward to Playing the DLC.

I Own a X1 Day One and a PS4 Pro, but I am def getting an X now, especially since Ark is Running at 60fps vs 30fps on Pro

slate912920d ago

I agree kionic. MS edged out. Black desert and PUBg were great announcement. Along with crackdown 3, forza 7, cup head. Ashen looked and played very well too. MS had a lot of content in their conference.

OB1Biker2920d ago (Edited 2920d ago )

'everything was 2018.
you mean like for the Ms conference except for a game announced three years ago of which they showed 20sec of gameplay?

KingKionic 2920d ago

What game from Microsoft announced 3 years ago gets 20 seconds of gameplay and releases in 2018?

Crackdown 3? That game comes out November 7 this fall. Its trailer was 2:49 minutes.

There was more shown off during the Xbox daily show of a full playthrough of the single player.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Im looking forward to the campaign more. Looks fun.

Dark_Knightmare22920d ago

Yeah you're right all these gaming sites calling x1x irrelevant are just lying or fanboys right smh. Oh nice try following your beloved ms and trying to be misleading but Sony had the crowd audio muted which is why you didn't hear the crowd but you already knew that

Rude-ro2920d ago

Forza 6 remaster looked real good.
Letdown 3 speaks for itself.
Then we wait till next fall!
Epic console :/

classic192919d ago (Edited 2919d ago )

Who cares if the crowd was dead though. Fact is sony show them system seller exclusives.. Sony won on their exclusives alone, meanwhile ms best moments was from 3rdparty support. Whats with all the its not coming to 2018 lines? How long did ppl wait for Crackdown3, cuphead, or that pirate game? Yea.. Sony e3 was beat only by its passed shows.. Sony gave ppl a reason to buy and keep their ps4. Ms just said now we got the power and time exclusives.. That said the new xbox looks pretty dope though. E3 as a whole was abit of a meh moment.

I felt it was a tie, to be honest. It is extremely hard for me to give a win of one over the other.

ninsigma2921d ago

I think presentation wise they were equally weak but Sony showed more interesting games for me so I'd give it to them over MS. I hear UBI did a great job of their conference. Mad I missed it now.

UCForce2921d ago

I think Ubisoft win this year. I have to be honest.

gangsta_red2920d ago

Agreed, between MS and Sony it was definitely a tie.

Both showed off games, both showed games we knew about with dates to release, both showed off great multiplat games, both had very interesting games but both didnt show anything new that was hands on your head "omg omg omg" worthy.

In all honesty i thought Bethesdas Wolfenstein 2 was the break out game. Loved that trailer!

Nintendo imo has the right idea, short, hardly any 3rd party fluff, to the point, no cringe worthy presenters tripping over thier jokes on stage and games shown exclusively for their system. Good job Nintendo.

Aenea2920d ago

Honestly, Anthem looked amazing! And yes, I know, that was during the Xbox conf :)

gangsta_red2920d ago

I should have added Anthem because I really dug that too.

FinalFantasyFanatic2919d ago

So hyped for Anthem, I want to get it on PC.

2920d ago
XanderZane2920d ago

I rated both shows a C+. Both were lackluster and missing a ton of content that gamers wanted to see. There were other conferences that were better anyways.

FinalFantasyFanatic2919d ago

I agree, it felt about the same for me, if anything I would mark down Microsoft for lacking exclusives, Sony showed mostly games we already knew we were getting (at least they were games you could only play on a PlayStation). I think Nintendo had the most impressive show out of the bunch, there was some good stuff there.

Survivor Mercs to Gain Couch Co-op Alongside Console Release This Summer

"There are plenty of Vampire Survivors-style "Bullet heaven" games in the sea, but it's hard to care about the ones that don't have co-op. If you don't at least bring the same features to the table as the game you're inspired by, what's the point? Well, Survivor Mercs from Wandering Wizard is already out in Steam Early Access, and when it fully launches, it will bring the co-op. Having tried the single-player demo on Steam, we're excited for it," says Co-Optimus.
