Edit: whoops! Didn't mean to post that there. But oh well, Wolfenstein 2 does look amazing. It was easily the highlight of Bethesda's conference for me.
Nice music lol. Reminds me of another day in the life of Fallout. "Oh my Mary please take me back home and give me a night to remember" FML start the f***** stream already or change the music.
I'm wondering how much that includes or if it's just taking what's already on PS4 and unifying under their umbrella. It could still be just cosmetic stuff, not other things that require audio files.
Yeah, that's the whole question. But, then there's also the question of if that's true, does Sony and Microsoft allow them to charge for this stuff without taking a cut? I notice they have "credits" which might mean people have to buy "Bethesda money" to buy mods that may not use up all of their "Bethesda money" in order to go through the storefronts.
I mean I agree but I could sort of give them a pass because I understand they are a business and they still have to mark it those other things.
I was definitely hoping for an announcement of one of their main line RPGs I was really hoping for a Fallout done by obsidian (Fallout New Orleans) or the new IP that many people believe is being worked on or clearly Elder Scrolls 6 but I guess we're going to have to wait.
I don't know why people put Obsidian on a high pedestal - new vegas was good, but they had no hand in any of the story writing... it was also the buggiest fallout game, which made it unbearable at times when you had to reboot your console every 15 minutes.
And they could have shown all of the games in their presentation as an on-stage demo like they have in the past.
@zigg-will obsidian is still a pretty good developer and I only bring up obsidian because I would believe statistically they would be the likely developer to make another Fallout game after the engine is already built.
I definitely wanted a big RPG announcement but I'm okay with what was shown.
***I don't know why people put Obsidian on a high pedestal - new vegas was good, but they had no hand in any of the story writing...***
Chris Avellone writes for Obsidian and was part of the same team at Obsidian (former Black Isles/Interplay folks) who worked on the abandoned Fallout 3 that was turned into New Vegas. Obsidian wrote Fallout New Vegas. Chris worked for them.
Chris Avellone is one of the key reasons Obsidian gets so much praise.
As for technical issues, I blame Bethesda's requirement they use their engine just as much as anything else. Obsidian didn't have issues using BioWare's old game engines when they made sequels for them, only BioWare.
MS wasn't that bad. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing but they had games and a lot of interesting ones multiplatform or not. The only time they really let the ball drop was when they announced the price of the One X. But I do agree, E3 has been very underwhelming this year (so far, 3 more shows to go)
Trust me there have been far worse press conferences.
Both games are decent and it's kind of cool to hear that both of them are releasing in October this year.
Both of the games announced tonight are day one buys for me compared to a Electronic Arts where I'm sort of on the fence with the co-op Prison Break type game where Anthem is a day one for me.
I don't think it was that bad because I was very doubtful we are just going to get like 5 brand new announcements or something.
They could have just released these trailers on Youtube at any time to the same reception.
They literally announced paid mods. Had some weird child oriented intro and transition sequence. No new in-house Bethesda game (people were hoping for Starfield or TES VI).
Oh and they finally announced The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.
@paytaa-because they can afford to Market their games like this
Bethesda is a growing publisher and I think it's correct for them to establish themselves amongst the top Publishers by having a press conference.
I think what they're trying to mark it is not only quality but clearly excitement and I don't think they want to come across as a publisher that's simply releases their trailers on YouTube and calls it a day as I believe it dampens the excitement it makes them look lesser.
I mean I'm sorry but what benefit to the publisher to not have a press event? To what benefit even to the consumer to not see it?
If they have the money I think they're 100% correct to Market themselves this way. Especially if you consider they've given themselves less than a six-month window on 2 pretty big Triple A games
But you're suggesting they this drop a trailer on YouTube? 😂😂😂 28514;
They have a very tight window to Market and I think this was a good idea for them to continue having these conferences since there's still a growing publisher.
I'm sorry but you're not really giving much benefits to the publisher to not mark it this way.
_-EDMIX-_,Market what? worst conference in E3? that what happened.totally shitshow.just in case, if you don't think so,does not mean that what was not happened.it did.terrible.people are very disappointed, like very disappointed.
A growing publisher that has the audacity to get on the same stage as Microsoft and Sony and announce paid mods? Yeah that's not going to go over well.
Bethesda went hard at E3 2015 which was there first. Now their third take at it and they produce hot garbage. How many times can you seriously announce Skyrim?
The head of Bethesda basically got on stage to present a 25 minute powerpoint that they could've done on their own website or Youtube. The stream live chat was hilarious on how bad they were getting shat on.
A barely 40 minute conference to announce a game that had a 3 minute pre rendered trailer that looked like a bad music video with snippets of gameplay at the end and one game that gets a half gameplay half cinematic trailer is not something you pay money for stage time for.
That is your opinion of it. You've yet to actually make any point why they should not market their games.
They have less then 6 months to market 3 new games, this makes sense for them as they are able to generate excitement. Marketing is not about your personal feelings, its about conveying that excitement to those who care about those IPs,
"audacity to get on the same stage as Microsoft and Sony and announce paid mods?" What does that have to do with marketing?
"A barely 40 minute conference to announce a game that had a 3 minute pre rendered trailer that looked" What does that have to do with marketing?
Buddy, you are crying over this press event, but those 3 games coming out in less then 6 months are not your games, its theirs.
If they want to market them on stage, then so be it. All I'm hearing is you not liking it.....ummmm ok, thats nice. Don't know what that has to do with marketing but ok.
If that's what you consider good marketing, then you must have low ass standards lol.
And it's not just me who didn't like it. Not even 5 minutes after it ended, people on Twitter, Reddit, and others were trashing it. If Bethesda wants to be among the likes of giants like EA, Ubisoft, MS, and Sony, they need more than two expected sequels, talking about a bad MMO that piggybacks off of Morrowind nostalgia, Skyrim's re-re-re release, Quake with more fake actors than gameplay, and Dishonored DLC.
Marketing your game at E3 isn't the only option in the industry anymore. This isn't 2007 where all eyes are soley on E3. Youtube is bigger than E3 and Bethesda has a large enough audience to get the same type of marketing out in the wild.
Their entire E3 presentation was a colossal waste of time and I regret staying up for it. At least Microsoft had a lot of content I enjoyed and PlayStation's tonight will remedy the disappointment Bethesda created.
They didn't have much to show but at least it was short. I liked the Dishonored DLC, The evil within 2 and Wolfenstein 2 announcements. Sadly The evil within 2 leaked beforehand. They could've easily announced those games at Sony's and Microsoft's conferences. 6/10
I find Bathesda to be boring. Shoot, kill, shoot, kill. The setting of their games are all very similar. Destructive worlds with their characters all trying to act tough. It's boring.
Personally, i'm getting bored of the so called top western game companies. Their games are all the same type of games. A serious tone with guns and gore.
What do you mean their games? You do understand that Bethesda is publishing many other developers games by different people right?
Also your criticism doesn't even make any sense I mean what you're actually stating is that sequels to games are going to be similar than their previous versions? I don't understand? Were they supposed to be randomly different?
What game did they show that was similar to another game that they have? I mean seriously I really don't think you're as dense as to honestly believe that just because a game has someone shooting that it must be the same as another game with someone shooting.
That literally sounds like something someone might say that doesn't actually really understand games.
I mean buddy you could have Battlefield ,Battlefront, Call of Duty, Destiny and there all games where you're shooting stuff or shooting people, but I'm pretty damn positive all four of the games I mentioned are not the same.
That's a stupid as saying any game where you're swinging a sword must all be the same...
So suddenly the weapon of a gun and an explosion is all you need to know to understand a game now?
Well I own 12 games and 7 are published by Bethesda ... Doom, Fallout 4, Prey, Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Evil Within, Dishonored: Definitive Edition and Dishonored 2 .. So it's a given that they're my favorite publisher and Wolfenstein II and The Evil Within II are day one purchases :3
I was expecting a little more talking about some of the games but at least they're all coming this year. Won't have to wait long to hear details and see gameplay videos.
Really excited about at least trying Skyrim on the Switch with the new motion controls, and Wolfenstein looks insane graphics wise and gameplay wise.
I'm split on the idea of not showing anything past 2017. It's great to hear about a game and then know it's coming soon, as Wolefnstein looks brilliant. But I so wanted to see what else they are working on.
Just wolfeinstein for me, so far been a disappointing E3 for me. Ms = ori, state of decay 2, anthem, last light, artful escape, metro, Ashen and code vein. Ea= a way out and sratwars
Its not 6pm et, its midnight et. Never knew the sun rose in the west.
Yeah, they're only off by six hours.
Fix the time please it's 12:00am Est not 6pm Est. How does that make any sense if it reads 9pm Pst for the West Coast. and 6pm Est. Some people
Midnight?? Forget that, I gotta make money to afford these games.
