Project Scorpio Shouldn’t be the Focus of Microsoft’s E3

Project Scorpio makes Microsoft's E3 conference feel predictable. That's a problem.

They should have revealed it pre e3, that would have left room to talk about the games.
Givin the history of MS and xbox brand they might not have much to show and is why they are giving time to show the scorpio in action talk about pricing and whatever else scorpio related.
I hope they realize how crucial it is for them to actully bring games. Not a single game has been announced since last year's E3 and they still have games that haven't been released but show 3-4 years back.
Games like cup head has no reason to have been delayed so long. Its an indie. It loOKs fantastic but overall an indie and I can't understand why it's not out yet. Games like gears have been announced and released after cup head was shown...yet here we are still not out.
So all in all they need to show games....period. no excuses, no damage control, just a full on assault. Anything otherwise and the xbox may not recover.

Brave Losers, I said that, and what happened when Scorpio was revealed? They revealed that DX12 HW is baked into the XB1 just like it is in Scorpio. The performance gain you mention is for draw calls specifically (it was Brad Wardell who said it just before the NDA's shut him up), and 500-600% increase in draw call efficiency will easily be gained when using DX12 to make XB1 games that support Scorpio. MS said during the Scorpio demo that they were reducing CPU workloads by as much as 50% when they used DX12 properly. Call it secret sauce if you like, but the secret HW was there all along. Thanks for proving my OP right, for igniting the flames underneath me, and for reminding me just how right everything from the past has been.

Because Cuphead is not the game it once was. Cuphead has evolved from a boss fight only game to a full full fledged platform game. To develop new stages and cenarios takes time. It´s better they take their time improving the game, than gives a release date only to be delayed again. I feel the same way about Detroit

I agree with most of what you posted King, but MS did technically reveal it before E3. They talked specs and elaborated upon them afterwards, showed a demo of it running Forza 6, let devs speak about it more openly, etc. Of course this year will show the games running on Scorpio, but they don't really need to talk any more about the Scorpio specifically.

Phil has mentioned that MS is focused on games now, has teased old IP, has not yet revealed games they were working on before last years' E3, and has plenty of knowns like CD3, SoT, SoD2, etc. Playground is working on a new title, and that there are some loose rumors that some high profile devs working on exclusives as well. There's a reason they've gone quiet on the games front... they were waiting to debut them on Scorpio.

I think that MS can still easily make this years' focus about games with a minimal of additional explanation about Scorpio. I guess we'll finally find out in a few weeks exactly what MS has been up to the last few years though.

There's not a whole lot to talk about for Scorpio hardware. They will show the hardware and then talk about the games that will be played on it. I expect they won't reveal the price or release date until at the very end of the show. I'm sure they will show the specs once again as well. Still, most of this show will be about the games and maybe what new studios they will be acquiring. I'm sure there will be a few surprises along the way. There always is at every XBox conference.

I am wondering if it will be an old IP from the original Xbox that makes a come back or something from one of the studies like rare in the massive ips they had back in the day. Alittle like they did with ki as no one saw that coming. For me I'm happy with the ips the Xbox one has had so far but I see why people want more and for them to grow they need more. Because Scalebounds struggle was PG adapting to the big open world RPG they were trying to make. Not anything to do with MP.
And Darkside were originally not focusing on the SP that's why they pulled funding. All they had was a working MP demo and not much else.

I'm a PlayStation guy so I know perfectly what you write is spot on. For those who just buys one console I understand that a PS4/Pro is a good pick. That said both the PS4Pro and Scorpio isn't for the average console gamer.

It's for early adopters who wants to jump in to "4K" gaming now rather then later. And for those who play allot. And by that I mean most big AAA third-party games. There are a heck of a lot more of them then PlayStation exclusives that's for sure.

Both PS4Pro and Scorpio will never move a significant amount of consoles. Consoles have always been the cheapest entry level to play modern games. And the consoles will continue to be just that. But now we got not one but soon two alternatives for those who want more without taking the jump to PC.

And Xbox will be leading the way for a change after 3 hard years with the XBO. So it's going to be interesting to see what E3 will deliver. I belive, no I hope they have partnered up with several developers to ensure Scorpio will be by a fair margine the best place to play these games. Because the support from developers for PS4Pro have been frankly disappointing with just a few really great supported titles.

E3 is just around the corner. This is gonna be exciting! :)

As in they are gonna pad the games selection with several games that where previously pc only titles. I am not a huge gamer even though family members are(I do play but more casually) but I am deffinetly looking for a good 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos Audio supported, Blu-Ray player and was going to buy a standalone player to do the job, which will plug into my Marantz SR7011 Dolby Atmos/DTS:X surround sound 4K Receiver and 65" 4K HDR TV, but Scorpio will do the job nicely now that I hear it will support all those things and at a cheaper price than a standalone player that doesn't play 4K games. It also has next gen HDMI 2.1 and Freesync 2 ready to go supported onboard. Best of all worlds for me so I am sold on it. I also have two PS4 Pro's in the house but that doesn't do 4K HDR Blu Ray or Dolby Atmos so I will buy Scorpio for that job. The Games and 4K streaming are a huge bonus for me since I wont need to buy two separate devices anymore to achieve what I am looking for ( Standalone 4K Blu-Ray player and another more powerful games console all in one box). This will do it all for what I am looking for so saves me money. For the record I do have a vanilla Xbox One/PS4 in my bedroom and an Xbox One S/ PS4 Pro/ Nintendo Switch, currently sitting in my lounge, and all get used just as much as each other, so I just like console and tech devices lol

MS needs to amaze us with new IP in development, and then follow through, maybe a few weve been secretly working on these and they release soon would be amazing, scorpio is a win already for interest, the games have been lacking lately and if they cant deliver then they will fall behind more.

The problem is they won't be able to really, dev time is now 2-5 years on a triple a game, the budgets are crazy expensive, already reducing the number of games a system manufacturer can realistically make.

You might have a few small games pop up that flew under the radar, however the big boys are virtually impossible to keep hidden from the gaming public for long. Ms screwed up last gen when the gutted their first party devs in favor of natal, and they are paying the price this gen because of said direction change.

Because showing the form factor & telling us the price/date will take an hour. Anything other than games will likely take the 1st 5-10 minutes of probably an hour 1/2 show.

They've to do two things, aside revealing scorpio:
1- announcing new gorgeous games like cuphead, rare replay and sunset overdrive (and like quantum break but better)... or like the 90% of the sony exclusives... I know, it's very hard for microsoft but they should try;
2- monstrously price dropping the xbox one S to 100/150€, so i can buy the normal version of the xbox one (with no external alimentation for example), play the 6/7 games that really interests me right now on it and then leave it to dust, without the sensation to have lost too much money for it.

I don't see why not, A new flagship piece, you would certainly wanted it centre stage.

I'd love to see Ninety nine nights make a comeback and done exclusive for Scorpio.

Never going to happen, but if i'm Microsoft i'm launching Scorpio at $299 & dropping the S to $199. The influx of sales & Live subscriptions will quickly make up for the initial hardware cost hit.

Blah blah blah...original Xbox most powerful console ps2 weakest console for that generation...what happened? GAMES that's what happened... you can have the most powerful console but that means nothing without the content
