Tequila Works will remove the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from RiME once, and if, the game is cracked

RiME, a new single-player puzzle adventure game from Tequila Works, has just been released on the PC. However, this game – and like pretty much almost all the latest PC titles – is currently using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Still, Tequila Works reassured fans that it will remove this anti-tamper tech once, and if, the game is cracked.

Might as well go ahead and remove it. Deveno is no longer secure as it was. This security gets broken it what a few days now.

Do you realize that most Denuco games still haven't been cracked?

Pretty much every game on this list have been cracked, at least the ones people care about. Some of them took longer but none of them is actually uncrackable... and Rime will probably be next.

DillyDilly2945d ago

Some games are not cracked because Im guessing the people cracking them have no interest in them but the big games so far have been cracked

bluefox7552944d ago

I wouldn't say most, maybe about half, and many of the ones that weren't are smaller titles that weren't really that popular.

ziggurcat2945d ago

or... you know... people can just buy the game instead of stealing it...

Cmv382945d ago

Won't happen. If not for steam, pc gaming would have become a graveyard because of the amount of piracy.

The Witcher 3 released with a DRM free version and it still sold incredibly well.

That's good and all, but it's important not to forget that people would be a lot more willing to hand over their money if developers actually released competent products on PC.

Here's Rime on PC: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

The Steam reviews and comments seen on other forums lead me to believe this level of performance isn't exactly an isolated case and you really can't blame poor sales on piracy all the time when poorly optimised games like this and Dishonored 2 leave me and many other waiting for the game get fixed up before buying.

"That's good and all, but it's important not to forget that people would be a lot more willing to hand over their money if developers actually released competent products on PC."

that's not a justification for stealing.

Stig1932945d ago

I'm not justifying it, but when developers complain about poor sales they'll more often than not bring piracy into the equation and they'll completely ignore the customers that are willing to pay, but not on shoddy products.

Treat the paying customers with respect with a solid product and I can guarantee you they'll repay the favour with a sale. You can look at Bayonetta's recent PC release for evidence of that.

Seafort2945d ago

What happens now if the game gets poor sales when the game can't be cracked for a bit due to Denuvo? Still blame piracy or their utter incompetence at optimising their game?

Word of mouth can help or hinder game sales it all depends on how the game plays and the attitude of the developer to communicate to their customers and support their game. So far they've done a piss poor job on both points.

From what I've heard the PS4 version isn't much better.

quent2945d ago

Then why pay to have it in the first place, just don't put it in and save some money

freshslicepizza2945d ago

They put it in there to try and prevent the game being cracked right away. Most game sales happen when its first released.

The most amusing part to all of this are the reasons why people hate it. On Steam you hear it all from it slows down my PC to it's corrupted my game. The fact is DRM exists on consoles and people just accept it but on the PC its taboo even though that is the very reason why some developers wont release games on the PC, in fear of piracy.

GameBoyColor2945d ago

Drm isn't really accepted even on consoles (we just have no real say in console business though). Reason why the ms first got a lot of flack for their drmbox1 idea.

MagicBeanz2944d ago

Sounds suspiciously like a challenge.

5 Bad Switch Ports That Should Not Have Happened

Greysun writes:

The Nintendo Switch gets bombarded with many, many ports. But most of them actually run pretty well, with only a couple that we would call bad Switch ports.

While I agree with the majority on this list Bloodstained is far from a bad port. Sure it doesn't run as fast as the other more powerful machines and has some sacrifices made to the graphics to keep the game running smooth. But some of the errors that are being mentioned can be patched and addressed. The game is still fun to play, it's not like it's broken or anything.

King_Noctis2178d ago

Ark should have never been released the way it is on the Switch. The game is so so bad.

It's purely down to the incompetence of the Devs. Just go and look at how more demanding games have successfully been ported to Switch and then you have proof that these are just poorly done.
