As long as it's with a Japanese publisher it'll be okay they tend to release shitty games when they make a deal with a western publisher.

"they tend to release shitty games when they make a deal with a western publisher."

I don't believe that's it at all. It really depends on what the publisher wants from them. Bayonetta 2 and Nier Automata turned out just fine while Ninja Turtles and Scalebound didnt do so well.

slappy5082961d ago

Your examples illustrates his point. Nier was published by Square Enix and Bayonetta 2 by Nintendo. Both Japanese pubs and both were masterpieces. Whilst TMNT was published by Activision and Scalebound by Microsoft. Both were failures

@Skappy

Are you suggesting that Platinum is giving Western publishers crappy games on purpose then they are able to produce good ones?

I believe it has more to do with what the publisher ask of Platinum games than anything else. You don't ask for the right things and Platinum isn't capable of delivering a quality game.

Also Vanquish and Bayonetta 1 were published by Sega.

Transformers was pretty good though, but that's about it.

TheOttomatic912961d ago

@MasterCornholio I think the reason that Platinum games released under western publishers don't do so well is because they don't really give them as much creative freedom as the Japanese publishers and also don't forget SEGA is a Japanese publisher.

MasterCornholio2961d ago (Edited 2961d ago )

@Otto

I can understand that. Japanese publishers and Japanese developers share the same culture so it's easier for Platinum to make games for those publishers. However when a Western publishers demands that Platinum make the game according to the tastes of westerners that could limit what Platinum wants to do with the title.

I honestly don't believe that Platinum are racist and love torturing westerners with bad games.

rainslacker2960d ago

TMNT was probably more a product of strict deadlines to coincide with the movie. That's why most movie based games suck.

I wouldn't say what you speak of is a problem that it's a western or eastern publisher. Both can be good or bad depending on the situation.

They did mention that they are working on a Switch game.

Possibly a Nintendo Switch game base on his comment back in January.

PlatinumGames – Atsushi Inaba
INTERESTING ASPECTS OF SWITCH

PlatinumGames has already come out saying we’re developing games for the Nintendo Switch, so we understand what the hardware is capable of. Which is why the price was surprising. This thing is seriously cheap. I think it’s the result of a tremendous amount of work, and it’s an indication of their strong desire to see their hardware reach a lot of markets.

Hopefully, they can do a female lead whose body is not terrifyingly deformed this time. Other than that I love the series lol just makes me cringe every time.

If that is true then it sounds like it would be more substantial than just Ultimate Deluxe plus a few new characters.
