New Life is Strange Game Confirmed to be in Development

Today, developer Dontnod Entertainment and publisher Square Enix announced that a new Life is Strange game is in development.

One of the coolest experiences this generation. Beat Telltale at their own game. Would love another game even though I'm not sure how it would work.

If memory serves, they said it'd have to be something new as they felt Max's story was done. So they're probably going to go the final fantasy route where the next entry won't be tied to the last.

That makes more sense. Hopefully the characters are as memorable. The twists in LIS were bonkers.

How about a prequel of the time when Max and Chloe met? Probably play as Chloe too and lead to the events of the 1st game

I think it would make the impact of the story in the first game less significant. LIS was a prime example of how an interactive drama should be made. I think that can be extended to any sort of story, and bringing new characters can keep it fresh.

Even if we saw them as kids, it wouldn't make too much sense given how Max came into her powers much later than that. I'd rather have something that was more mature.

Anyhow, all that said, I think I'd like to see them revisit the Remember me type game. It had that time element which was vastly underused, but was probably the best part of the game. It didn't affect the outcome of the story, and was linear just to keep things moving, but it could certainly be made into something more complex and compelling and multi-branched. Plus the game play was pretty good.

Wasn't a fan of the first game, maybe I'm just too old? I dunno, the characters were annoying, the writing was downright cringey at times, and the story was boring and predictable IMO. The time travel mechanic was kinda cool though. Hopefully they move away from the "quriky teenage hipster" type of protagonist and do something new.

I think the younger folk liked the game the most. I thought it was a good game, with one of the worst ever endings.

I actually liked the game quite a bit, my wife loved it, the whole teen drama thing really kept her attention. I agree the ending was terrible

Well I'm 34 and I think it's one of the greatest games ever made next to The Last of Us, Soma, Portal 2 and Snatcher.

I have just recently played this game and eventhough I'm just a couple of hours in, I can safely say that this one of the best games that I had ever played. The level of interaction, the story, the cast, the graphic, all are top notch and steps above Telltale games (and I'm a big fan of Telltales and The Walking Dead).

This game should be treated as a teenage drama and should be enjoyed as such. The people who enjoyed story in games such as Persona should not have problem enjoying this game.

I really enjoyed it, but I agree, the ending was a a disappointment compared to the rest of the story. I started kind of expecting how it would end about halfway through(both tracks) and I got them both right. While I did find a lot of the non-story dialogue kind of "cringey" and mostly useless to the overall plot, I felt the stuff related directly to the main characters to be really well done. I felt they tried to hard to keep some sort of social commentary in there(bullying to be specific) that really wasn't needed, and while I wasn't really into the teen melodrama setting, it did work for the game overall with most of the characters being stereotypes being it's only real flaw in setting.

Despite all this, I do think it was one of the best games I played last gen. I actually did care about the main characters, and really wanted to see the different outcomes to the time travel stuff. It was a rare treat that I just wasn't really expecting.

Such a grossly underappreciated game among the press, and went unnoticed by many gamers. It had it's flaws, but the story was great, the game was solid, and it had some nice mechanics with the time manipulation which sadly went way underused in the overall game.

Was never a fan of this due to the horrible writing and voice acting it had but it's good to see something as unconventional as this get a sequel (it would have never happened in he past).
