Wrong URL, correct one: http://www.doyouevengamebro...

On-topic: can't wait for this, sadly in EU it releases Thursday so have to wait a few more days!

jgarcia2541d ago

I actually linked that URL but for some reason clicking it adds junk to the end which breaks the link

That was a glowing preview from an unbiased chap. The co op mode sounds fun. I'm excited to grab my preorder.

I hope this game doesnt bomb big time like i think it might, Because then i think i may just have to sell my PSVR as i havent useed it since resi 7 back in january. It was a good ride but i dont think most gamers are ready for vr yet. Maybe in 15 years.

BenRC012542d ago

Gamers are ready, devs aren't.

Ya from day one VR was destined to fail imo. I just don't think there's enough interest in the tech right now. Not to mention no ones using the tech properly either. 360 cams should be set up at concerts, sporting events, PSX, and maybe even different landmarks across the globe where you have a mobile cam so ppl can get a glimpse of the world from the comfort of their couch. Gaming hasn't advanced the tech enough for it to sell a whole lot, but I for one would have bought one if I could be at a concert while in VR, or courtside at a basketball game in VR. Or imagine how cool it would be for a satellite in space to have a VR enabled cam on it.

I disagree, its not a lack of interest thats preventing the psvr to be the biggest thing since HD. The price point is whats keeping people at bay, for the time being. When consumers are going to drop good hard earned money they need definitive experiences that justify their purchase. This is one hurdle that separates the "casual" and "hardcore" crowd. I want the newest and freshest experience; psvr provides that for me. I wouldn't let a couple hundred dollars prevent me from having access to the newest tech. Though the price barrier has definitely kept a lot of people from taking the plunge and just buying one.

However, I do agree strongly that the format hasn't necessarily been fully taken advantage of. Sporting events, concerts, PSX(a must really), I'd love to see a dev diaries series made exclusively for sony first party studios where you get virtual behind the scenes access to the newest games and tech coming out of these studios. I mean i wanna see BTS for mocap, hardware engineering, etc. I think a problem i have with 360 cams is that most are horrible. I've used psvr with 360 cam content, and 360 cams are cool and all but its not nearly as immersive and the quality is typically poor. Please send me to sporting event playoffs where i can look up and down the field, court, whatever, and change perspectives, that'd be great, hell, charge me, i'd pay.

Just to clarify and put things into another perspective bc i've been hounded before about this. A major complaint is the idea that most psvr experiences are just that, experiences, not full games. If psvr was half the price there would be a HUGE uptick in sales both from the hardware and software, so many people spend $4 or $5 on a crap mobile game several times a year on several games that they play for a few minutes here and there for a month and then stop. Most people don't bat an eye at a couple dollars here and there so dropping several hundred for a system that has the same amount of content as these mobile games is an issue most people cannot get past. There are some shining games that stand out far from the others and offer better experiences than others. RE7, Rigs, playroom vr(dont hate on this one, ferreal, its good couch co-op) .

@ gamesnmaster1982, strongly disagree with your 15 year statement. The time is now, not jumping on the tech now will only slow the growth of virtual reality which has already been stunted due to technological limitations. I mean when digital printers first came out people had to justify using them. Word processors didnt have as many features, they werent easy to use, and took longer than a type writer. The early adopters spoke up and the tech progressed quickly. I believe we are on the cusp of a new digital revolution as to how a large portion of our digital content is consumed.

Farpoint Studio Tease Cryptic Message for Upcoming VR Game

Its due for release later this year.

PrimeVinister1154d ago

Farpoint VR may be surpassed by other VR first-person shooters in the future but it is an important part of the genre's development in VR.

Neonridr1153d ago

I mean HL: Alyx is probably the best representation of first person implementation into a VR game to date. But it's exciting to see what's on the horizon. I will particularly be interested in the next gen version of PSVR to see what sorts of new interactions we can get with the controller

Abnor_Mal1153d ago

Farpoint was a great shooter with the Aim controller on PSVR, I'm excited to see what the studio is doing next and if its another shooter that will use the Aim again.

"There’s also no mention of what platforms it’ll support, presumably PlayStation VR will get a look in as Farpoint was exclusive to the headset. But there have been fewer and fewer for Sony’s device. With a 2021 launch window, VRFocus would expect an Oculus Quest version due to its popularity."

Sony just announced today five to six new games that will be releasing this year, so the idea of fewer and fewer games on the device is not correct, and there are a good set of games. Whether the game is exclusive or not it would be welcomed either way. How many Oculus Quest HMDs have been sold to date, and are they close to or already closed the lead of Sonys headset?

Games are subjective I guess. But this list is weak. Some of the titles named aren't that good. I could have came up with a better list. And some of the best and latest releases aren't even on this list.

Article could have been better.
