Gamespot:Xbox Scorpio Dev Kit's Built-In Screen Can Show More Than Just Framerates

As it's only dev hardware, and the screen won't be in the consumer version of the pro, I'm not sure what use the devs would have for those animations.

lol, no thanks. I'd rather keep my attention focused on the one big expensive screen in my room.

I don't want any kind of second screen nonsense as a distraction. That's why I never even considered buying a Wii U.

And no, I'm not a developer, I realize that this screen is only for the developer console, but I was replying to the comment that said it would be neat to have animations related to the game you're playing.

Microsoft has already said the screen won't be in consumer versions of the Scorpio.

I believe the dev can use it for the game so they don't need a seperate screen if they have multiple dev kits

It would be cool if (even tho it won't be on the final product) maybe the screen could show achievements, who's online and other things that usually pop up on the TV, instead it could just show up there so not to distract you from the game.

I'm thinking if it did come to consumers it could show you what disc you have in the tray or even download percentage/status.

I remember someone else said the same about download percentage which is also an excellent use of a LCD front panel display.

It's crazy what's considered news these days, or it could be that people are just desperate to get any kind of news on the Scorpio. I've seen this news on several gaming outlets already. All this is is just a screensaver for the display. Nothing to be excited about since the consumer Scorpio won't even have a display screen.

"News" stories are typically based on what people are interested in. There are many people that are interested in Scorpio. This article is for them. If you aren't interested, then why are you here?

1. Show me where I said I wasn't interested in the Scorpio. If you must know I'm an Xbox guy, have all 3 consoles and I plan on getting the Scorpio as well. I'm just pointing out what this article is touting, which isn't much.

It's not a screen saver, it's capable of displaying system info, framerates, and acts as a mini-dev console so the developers can see data without having to go through the hassle of switching monitors just to see "metadata value X"

I know what the screen is for. That news came out 2 weeks ago. As it pertains to THIS article however it's about dolphins swimming around on the screen. If you read the article it even states the screen can do some other "mundane things" ; this being one of them.....

I'm not bashing the Scorpio in the least. I'm just pointing out what serves as "news" in this day and age because people are clamoring to get every bit of Scorpio news as they can which bolds well for their e3 conference. I don't recall this much interest for other console Dev kits.

Useful for developers I suppose. Definitely don't want this on the final version, and don't believe it will be included. It would look stupid and take away from the aesthetic.
