Sony Announcing Bloodborne 2 At This Year’s E3 Will Be The Perfect Icing On The PS4 Exclusives Cake

Bloodborne remains one of the best PS4 games of this generation so far. Until earlier this year, when Persona 5 released it and beat it, it was the highest rated PS4 exclusive, and even though it's now been beaten in that regard, it remains one of the first notable killer apps the system ever got.

Sorry pal, but we've seen what happened when you Xbronies laughed at "niche Japanese games" and Sony exclusives, and some of the best games that have come out this year only on PS4 are amazing games, some being game of the year contenders with many more great ones to come this year before the holiday season. Meanwhile on Xbox... cancelations left right and center, games coming out that less people care about or purchased than niche Japanese games. Scorpio will be here to save the day... in 6 months. The reason which is why i think it is not simply rumors is because that a game developer (dont remember which game it was exactly) said a few days ago he is 99% sure that it would be shown at E3. Because that he is a developer he may have access to information which we don't know about. If we go by this assumption and the fact that he mentioned that he is almost sure it would be shown leads to believe he knows that it is in heavy development.

Sega may have no interest in actually doing it though. Sega is really weird about capitalizing on their portfolio when the moment is right.

But, I can't imagine they'd be adverse to another company giving them money to license the rights to do it themselves.

Rumor stated a long time ago that Sega actually had a remaster for both games last gen, but shelved it for reasons I don't know(and not sure if it was stated in the rumors). If so, it means that a remaster may actually be much more substantial than just making a compilation release with some added effects.

But if Bluepoint is working on it, then awesome. I think they have proven themselves as one of the most capable porting/remaster developers out there.

Yeah, so SEGA had no problem licensing out the Shenmue IP to YSnet for a brand new game, which has more potential to do damage than a remaster job where everything is just about taking pre-existing assets and building a modernised product from them. As rainslacker pointed out, SEGA had attempted a remaster already and something prevented it from being released - maybe one day we'll find out for sure.

At this point, I think SEGA knows that there are better people to handle the Shenmue IP these days.

Bluepoint is known for going above and beyond with their remaster projects but Shenmue is a special case. There is a mountain of improvements that could be made such as 16:9 widescreen support, language options across all versions of the game, including things like Shenmue Passport, and importing the higher quality character models from Passport to use in-game, as well as plenty of obscure little things within the 2 games that a lot of other remaster studios might overlook. Bluepoint needs to be the studio to remaster Shenmue, IMO, to do it justice on modern platforms.

Wonder what it would take to actually just replace all the assets with something new. Maybe get rid of that silly wise cracking early 20's protagonist which has cropped up a couple times with their 2nd party games this gen. nioh and code vein (for me at least) less then games in the same genre and more like games inspired by it(like how borderlands is more of an rpg than a FPS. most people wont compare borderlands to cod) nioh is diablo-like games based on dungeon crawling with a combat inspired by fromsoft games. while co vain seems more like god eater (which is made by the same devs)

for me, comparing those games to each other is like comparing CoD,battlefield,farcry,borderl ands,fallout4 and overwatch simply because they are all FPSs

for the "souls-like"games you listed only 2 have pvp (NiOh and BB2) which is a huge factor for the souls community

also, why is it bad for souls-like games to have many games releasing, but its ok to have many RPGs and FPSs?

Bloodbourne 2 needs to aim for 900p 60fps on regular PS4, and 1080p (or upscaled 4k) 60fps on PS4 Pro. 60fps should be standard now for action games that require good timing. Only reason I put off playing the first game for so long was because of the awful performance of the game. Once it got PS4 Pro support, I jumped in and loved it, but 30fps still just does not cut it for me anymore. I loved Ni-oh waaaay more.

No matter how much i tried bloodborne was not my sort of game. I did at least understand the appeal, but i just couldn't enjoy it ( to be fair i did suck at it ). For me i would prefer until dawn 2 as I really enjoyed that. That being said this would be a welcome addition for the large number of people who did enjoy it.
