Orbital Speed Studio has announced that its turn-based mech strategy game, DUAL GEAR, has been delayed until 2018.
Dane Townsend of GameGrin previews Dual Gear, writing: "DUAL GEAR starts you on a menu overlooking a mech in what looks like a hangar. When you start, you’re thrust into a tutorial on an aircraft carrier where you’re taught the mechanics of the game. DUAL GEAR’s starting enemies consist largely of dropped-in turrets and, eventually, enemy mechas wanting to bust your lights out. The gameplay loop is a unique one, in that enemies can actually attack you mid-turn if you’re not careful or wait too long..."
Dual Gear is quite an interesting enigma for players. On one hand, it has the action, gameplay, and story beat that’s quite similar to the likes of the Fire Emblem series but with a hint of the Front Mission Evolve for good measure.
But on the other, it’s battle gameplay leaves a bit more to be desire, which may have to influence to not recommend it for now. These are flaws that expected in an Early Access Beta, so players’ mileage may vary.
Neil writes: "Combining 3D Mech Action shooting, with turn-based strategy elements, Dual Gear has today been announced for launch on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC - with gamers on the latter format able to get involved before July is out via Early Access."
